What Are The Differences Between Jee-main And Jee-advanced

What is the difference between jee main and jee advanced?

Every year CBSE(Central Board of Secondary Education) conduct Joint Entrance Exams for the aspirants who are looking for pursuing their education in well decorated institutes like NITs, IITs and other reputed colleges. JEE Main is the first exam conducted before JEE Advanced and it is one of the toughest entrance exam for students. The main difference is that anyone who have applied for this exam are eligible to give JEE Main while in JEE Advanced, who cleared JEE main with cut off score or the top ranker are eligible. The syllabus also differs. JEE main have paper 1 and paper 2, paper 1 are for the aspirants who want to do BE/B.Tech while paper 2 are for the aspirants who are looking for studying B.Arch/B.Planning. JEE also have paper 1 and paper 2 but here the students are expected to give both the papers. JEE mains can be given for 3 consecutive year whereas JEE Advanced can be given for only 2 consecutive years.

No there is not a big rank difference between Jee Advanced and Jee Mains when the ranks are based on marks excluding few exceptions.See since last four the situation has changed a lot ,means the students who got under 5k in Jee Mains were mostly due to board percentage not because of their marks. So they could not perform well in IITjee ultimately they had to take admission in NiTs.Don't worry this year situation will change.I would like to present some data2016My Jee main rank was 13352 withs a marks of 237.(83% in ISC).My friend Jee main rank was 13400 with 135 marks(97%in ISC).So he has to ultimately take admission in some NIT because he could not crack IIT.Just check the data of AIEEE 2012 when competition was based on marks only (NIT trichy)Now see data of Jee Mains 2016(NIT trichy)See the rank difference of electrical and electronics.Compare both data you can easily see what is the truth.Don't worry this year the distribution of seats will be fair and students with high ranks will also get good NITs.

I feel the main difference between these two exams is that in mains you are asked the questions based on the conceptual formula and when it comes to advanced you are asked such questions in which you are exposed to the application of the concepts(not that of direct formula) and even some questions may involve combined concepts of 2–3 different chapters.Another difference may lie in the lines of marking scheme,In mains you are given 30- questions of each subject and marking be like[+4,-1].When it comes to advanced the pattern of will be unknown till you receive your question paper it may involve one or more answers type, matrix, matching, passage questions, etc….The negative marking may vary from 0 to 66%.And then the next question was why are these exams used, technically speaking mains is considered to fill the seats in NITs,some IIITs and some government funded colleges.Where as advanced is considered while filling seat of IITs.

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is an All India Common Entrance Exam for admission to engineering colleges across India. It is conducted in two phases – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The IITs and ISM grant admission based on the results of JEE Advanced. The NITs, IIITs and other central or state-funded institutes grant admission based on JEE Main. Students are eligible to write JEE Advanced only if they clear the cutoff marks in JEE Main. Also, IIT JEE is considered as one of the toughest exams in the world. Over 14 Lakh students appear every year and only 20,000 get a rank.Performance in JEE Main 2017The candidate should be among the top 2,20,000 (all categories included) in JEE Main 2017. The percentages of the total number of candidates for various categories are 50.5% for GEN (from the common rank list), 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. Within each of these four categories, 3% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates. PwD category includes Dyslexic candidates also.An engineering aspirant vying for IIT JEE ought to understand that JEE Advanced is all about quality and not quantity. Whereas the preliminary JEE Mains focuses more on speed, JEE Advanced is the test of an aspirant’s conceptual intellect and application capacity. Consider that only quality preparation can fetch you a place in JEE Advanced and not the quantity of hours and books you read. Quality preparation in terms of learning and time devoted can make all the difference.JEE Advanced is all about quality and not quantity Read this. Will surely help you.

What is difference between JEE and CET?

JEE is for national level and CET is for state level

There's no major difference rather than the difficulty level of questions. Altough JEE ADVANCE excludes many straight forward theory based questions which you can find to some extent in JEE MAIN and most extent to BOARDS.Altough the basic syllabus (i.e. +2 level PCM) being same for all three examinations the cognitive skill’s requirement varies exponentially. For JEE ADVANCE supplementary concepts are also required to learn which are not mentioned in NCERT books.AND YES JEE ADVANCE MIGHT SAY IT THAT THE EXAMINATION IS FOR UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS OF HIGH SCHOOL PASSOUT STUDENTS BUT THE QUESTIONS ASKED ARE NOT AT ALL HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL.ONE SUGGESTION, DONT LEARN AND STUDY JUST FOR THE EXAMINATION RATHER FOCUS ON HOW MUCH KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN GRASP AND APPLY.
