What Are The Domain Redirect Rules

Redirecting URL with C++?

Hi,
I want to make a program that would redirect a person to one URL if they typed in a certain address.

For example, they enter:

www.domain1.com

It would redirect them to

http://www.domain2.net

The problem is that I have NO idea where to start. I don't know any functions or anything that could help accomplish this. Also, do I have to include something called windows.h? Everybody includes that in their C++ program when performing things in Windows, and I thought I might have to do that too.

Can anybody point me out to functions or anything that retrieve an entered URL, and redirect that person? Thanks.

NOTE: I want to make a standalone console program or desktop application (but not that complex), not some CGI program or Apache module. I asked this question earlier, but apparantly, I wasn't clear enough.

I will be determining this by simply putting the URL in the program.

How do I redirect all the pages of the website's to new domain's same pages?

It’s 5am here and I've been pulling a late night’r so my game is off a little and my eyes are starting to jitter from all the caffeine but I would point both domains into the site and canonize the new domain. That’s if your host allows multiple domains or addon domains where you can point the domains into the proper directories. This way the site answers as the new domain even if the request was for a file under the old domain. It might surprise a few wide awake, aware people but nothing harmful. You can create a wildcard 301 redirect for everything on the site using your htaccessRedirect 301 / http://www.newdomain.com/
You need to stop promoting anything under the old domain and only do SEO tasks using the new domain. One caveat is any ‘active’ components (like a forum, storefront, etc.) will probably need some configuration changes for the new domain but locations should still be the same. You’ll want site maps to reference the new domain name also internally… ASAP!Here’s more on this subject…301 redirect code generator301 redirect - URL http redirectionSEO Guide: How to Properly Move DomainsHow to Move Your Website to a New DomainExpectations and Best Practices for Moving to or Launching a New Domain

Which redirect rule should I use for affiliate links?

For use with affiliate links, I recommend using the Pretty Link Lite plugin ... IF you are using WordPress that is. This plugin helps you to increase your site’s click through rate because you have the ability to clean up those ugly looking affiliate links with a more meaningful link. This plugin offers you a choice of redirection type you might want to use (I leave it on default) 307 (Temporary), 302 (Temporary, or 301 (Permanent). The Pretty Link Lite plugin allows you the alternative to use the NOFOLLOW option with all of your affiliate links, which is a highly recommended option to use. Doing this helps protect your site from the search engine raking algorithms that are made to spot sites with lots of affiliate links, lower the rank of low quality sites.Pretty Link Lite protects your redirects because your affiliate link is invisible in the on page HTML code. As such, your links automatically out smart any form of ad blocker a user might have installed on their browser. It’s easy to updated or change your affiliate links when using the Pretty Link Lite plugin because you will only need to do that once, making it so that every time you’ve shared that link it is now updated. Heck, you can even group your affiliate links in this plugin.Pretty Link Lite also offers you a means of tracking your links!Hope this has helped you.

How long does it take for a sitewide 301 redirect to pass on link juice and benefit search engine rankings?

When my colleagues and I were doing a 301 redirect, the rankings on the new domain were almost identical in a few days, some of them were even higher.Actually, the majority of the rankings on the old domain were lost during 1–2 days and the new domain acquired them right after. If we are talking about metrics the PA reached the same value after 8–10 weeks. But don’t forget to analyze the organic CTR before and after the redirect. It may happen the new website/domain somehow attracts less people to click. And that’s exactly what happened to us.Even though the rankings increased by 1.44 positions in average, our CTR dropped by more than 50% on the most important keywords. And that caused a huge organic traffic drop of around 34%.I wrote a very detailed case study on what happened and how we copped with it. Feel free to check it out if you are interested: 301 redirect case study: How we came, saw, and went backDoing the redirect is not only about rankings, link juice and metrics. You have to think about what can happen with the organic traffic afterwards.Hope this helps!

Why am I getting thousands of links from my 301 redirected domain in Webmaster Tools?

Hi Saad, That's a pretty tricky situation. Without really knowing the exact details, I'll just use assumptions.Firstly, don't worry about the links. The domain is now 301'ed (Ill assume that it's properly 301'ed, not just linking.) The traffic will definitely decrease but im not sure how long the duration of all this is. If it's a couple of days, the traffic loss is probably from repeat visitors and new visitors that just saw your site but got a hacked site instead. This happens and if you took action quickly enough, things should be back to normalI would also look if your domain has a warning on Google and when people click on it from the serps. Something like "this site might be compromised" or something like that. Be sure that's not there or people will definitely not click your link.I would also look at your links now. Since you were hacked or injected, the hacked might have sent your site a LOT of links do push their real domain using tiered linking. So compile the new bad links and disavow them. Finally, secure the whole site. (This should've been the first but, oh well, there were more pressing issues)

Does 301 redirection affect website ranking?

Redirection is the process of forwarding one URL to a different URL. There are three main kinds of redirects: 301, 302, and meta refresh.A 301 redirect, or also known as a permanent redirect, should be put in place to permanently redirect a page. The word ‘permanent’ is there to imply that ALL qualities of the redirected page will be passed on to the detour page. That includes:PageRankMozRankPage AuthorityTraffic ValueA 301 redirect is implemented if the change you want to make is, well… permanent. The detour page now embodies the redirected page as if it was the former. A complete takeover. The old page will be removed from Google’s index and the new one will replace it.Visit here for more info

Is it possible to do URL redirect in AWS Route 53?

Yes you can. You need to point the hostname to an S3 hosted site so that is your landing page, then you redirect with S3. It has the added benefit of being reliable. You incur a small fee for each redirect it is not 0 but near to it.As I understand your use case this will likely be a 301 Permanent Redirect so you can set a long browser Cache TTL therefore the cost will be mitigated by a lot to be insignificant compared to whatever else you are using.Bonus. You can point DNS CNAME to Cloudfront endpoint instead of S3 and make a redirect URL without even having an S3 bucket. Just point the source to something non-existent.All DNS providers will use a similar way to redirect even if they offer a `redirect` solution. Reason being that DNS is a different protocol all together and is not aware of the HTTP protocol so eventually a web server needs to handle it.

Why does itanimulli.com (Illuminati spelled backwards) redirect to nsa.gov?

Because a guy named John Fenley registered the domain on GoDaddy and set it up to redirect to nsa.gov. This is child's play. You'd have to ask him what his motivation was. Maybe YOU are John Fenley?

How do I redirect 80 port of IIS server to 8080 port of tomcat?

You could either use HTTP-Redirect or URL-Rewriting within IIS to redirect the browser to port 8080 at the server.Using HTTP-Redirection :Using URL-Rewriting :However, I would advise you use to URL-Rewriting cause even if someone enters a URL like http://www.yourdomain.com/topic/..., they’ll be redirected directly to http://www.yourdomain.com:8080/topic/first , but if you use HTTP-Redirection you’ll be redirected to http://www.yourdomain.com:8080/, the sub-path will go unnoticed.Automatically redirected toHere’s the rewrite map, in case you needed it:
