Step 1: Ant poison in the form of ant cups. This will help, as some of the poison will be taken back to the nest and it will at least help control the population. Step 2. Get some Diatomateous Earth (it is non toxic) and sprinkle it around, especially in those hard to get to cracks and corners. Get some blue or green Listerine mouthwash or its generic equivalent, put into spray bottle, and spritz around. It will kill them and deter them. Step 4. Slather petroleum jelly around the bottom of table and chair legs, cabinets, anything...ants will not crawl over it. Step 5. Keep every single edible you have under wraps, covered, sealed, etc. Knowing you have an ant problem, leaving out a slice of bread, even for two minutes, is like sending out an dinner invitation to the whole colony. The less reason you give them to come calling, the more likely they will go somewhere else. Step 5. Get even and eat the little beggars. Yes, ants are actually quite nutritious, nor are they particularly dirty insects (like flies) and do not spread disease. Your food may not seem appealing after the ants have been around, but it is still perfectly edible. Good luck!

Storing or applying any kind of pesticide in close proximity to foods can be a recipe for disaster. Rather than relying upon naphthalene or other substances to repel insects in the cupboard, it would be far better to protect dried foods by storing them in securely closed canisters, jars, tightly-sealed bags, etc. Is it safe to eat foods stored in a cupboard that contains naphthalene? Perhaps, but it would be a far better decision to use the opportunity to clear the cupboard of food and naphthalene, clean all surfaces well, then restock the shelves with newly acquired food items. Then, practice good cleaning and storing as the means to prevent problems with insects in the pantry. You'll find that there will really be no good reason to use pesticides of any kind in the cupboard.

The potato is fine. If you peel it or cut it open and the inside is visibly bad you obviously shouldn't eat it. The growth won't hurt the inside, but the may have taken some nutrients out of the rest of the potato. If a potato is green on the outside, you should not eat it. Potatoes grow underground in the dark and when they are stored in light, they turn green. The green is the result of a chemical reaction involving light. It is poisonous and the resulting poison is actually a cousin of cocaine.
My mom barely makes or has any food in our house?
My mom always says she has "a lot of food in the house" but it's always 2 week old leftovers that taste diagusting. She makes food every 4 days but it's not much at all. She only goes to the grocery store to buy her stupid watermelons that only she eats and won't buy me anything because anything I ask her to buy (even cereal!!!) she says it's unhealthy or "too expensive" or that "I won't eat it" (she and my dad are soo cheap. (they only buy cheap, crappy food that I can't eat without throwing up (and the worst part? We are not poor, my parents are just cheap bastards that don't give a crap about anything but coffee, working all day, and saving money that they don't need to) then whenever my mom does make dinner (maybe once every 2 weeks if I'm lucky) my dad always says something that makes me want to kill him (oh, and every once in a while I throw my plate at a wall to show my parents that they can't just do whatever the he'll they want) I only have crappy canned liver in the cupboard (again, they got it because it was "cheap") and the fridge is full of rotten food mixed in with some really disgusting bad tasting food. What do I eat? My parents wont listen to Me when I ask her to buy food and just now I told her that there's no food in the fridge and she got extremely mad and filled up a water bottle and threw it in my face. Literally.They will eat clothing, insulation on wires, linoleum, wood, and you and your pets.But the easy things to get rid of or secure is the food in your cupboards. Get a metal cupboard or box and put everything edible in it.Even then, rats have been known to chew through tin to get to food.If you want to live without rats, poison is the best solution in most cases.

Edible food. That's our favorite. If a coven sister brings a dried out casserole to sabbat, we'll probably eat it out of politeness, but believe me when I tell you brownies go first. Seriously there are no restrictions on eats. We do have seasonal favorites, and covens and groves might have certain rules (In my coven, we used to say if you were bringing sweets, you had to have a non-chocolate option, because we had someone allergic to chocolate. Now we do the same with wheat, because we have someone with a gluten allergy.), but overall, it's a free-for-all. I think we can appreciate more "natural" foods as more than a trendy thing, but I have certainly enjoyed my share of processed foods at celebrations! Probably the most important thing to know about food and the Wicca is that if you are invited to a circle, bring something to share!
