What Are The Effects Of The Corruption In Russia

What is one effect of communism in russia?

The most important effect of 80 years of the communist non-stop brainwashing is stupidization of the population. Look at these Homo Soveticus who flock here claiming the virtues of the USSR. Guys, you did not have elementary toilet paper back in the USSR wiping your bums with the "Pravda" newspaper cut into pieces. You envied anybody who had opportunity to go abroad and bring back some West-made rubbish. You collected West-made cola cans proudly putting the collection on display in you flats. You were and still are just miserable slaves who praise their imbecilic plutocratic masters who rob your country. You still have no dignity ready to knee at the first "hush" of your masters.

The Homo Soveticus who are whining about the lost USSR don't understand that what they have now in Russia (appalling level of corruption) is THE LOGICAL CONTINUATION of the Soviet polices. Moreover, the Home Soveticus are stupid enough not to accept the obvious fact that the same Soviet officials are still in charge in Russia.

Are the effects of corruption amplified for smaller countries?

Yes . " amplified" means rapid growth in time, which is easy in small countries( common sense) . But the correlation is not causality. there are exceptions like India and Russia. Feudal lords in those two countries were waiting long and once " liberalized" they now acting in full force.

Corruption perception index is big western joke like human development index.

Greatest joke is , Indian scams grown 10 fold in 20 years but World Bank compels India to allot subsidies to consumers ( in cash) who are illiterate, poor, stupid, ignorant drunkards mostly !! World bank says giving cash will reduce corruption .... BUT in reality, they were at least getting groceries cheap, now they won't and they will spend the cash on illicit liquor.

If you asking for economic principles there are none - economics is a normative science they say, I say even their observations are fake statistics.

Academic resources (sources?) could be ample but abundantly worthless.

Lastly, which corruption ? Monetary, moral, sociological, mental, logical ?

What are the effects of corruption?

corruption caused talented people to engage in rent seeking rather participating in productive activities

As politicians who are supposed to encourage sports in India try to fill their pockets.Whatever the condition of India is, Corruption is behind everything. What the effects of population in economy?

Positive aspects:

1. The growth of skilled population will create more wealth at a better rate.
2. The growth of population may increase the market size which in turn will command respectability

Negative aspects:

1. Growth of population may lead to more people sharing fixed resources, leading to lower the per-capita availability of resources. This may lead to unemployment and lowering of standards of living etc.
2. Growth may call for diversion of scarce resources towards non-productive infra structure to handle the population growth.
3.Growth can also make the administration of economy complex, leading to corruption etc.
4. The shrinking population can make a particular nation vulnerable to polical exposures like invasion etc.

What is the impact of the Russian Revolution?

The problem is that Nicholas and Alexandra were the two stupidest people ever to try and govern a major country. Even at that they may have survived if it wasn’t for the entry into WW 1. This resulted in severe hardship and famine at home and an unsustainable number of casualties at the front. The people wanted “Bread and Peace” and the government was giving them famine and war.The next major causes came about because the autocracy led by the czar refused to share power with a rising middle-class. In Russia, power had always been in the hands of the nobility but as the country began to modernize it gave rise to a new “capitalist class” whose standing was based on wealth rather than land and coming from a noble family. As a sop to this growing class, a duma or parliament was formed, but was essentially powerless and existed at the pleasure of the aristocracy. After the czar was forced to abdicate, the duma was able to seize power and formed a liberal government under Kerensky. Unfortunately, they did not understand the importance of withdrawing from the war, which paved the way for Lenin and the Bolsheviks who were willing to make peace at any price. After the Bolsheviks seized power, a civil war broke out between them and the nobility. (The Reds and the Whites). Armies from the western allies were sent to intervene on behalf of the whites; but to no great effect except to cause years of mistrust and enmity between the new Soviet Government and the Western Powers. The Reds won the war because the whites were just as ineffectual as the czar had been. The Reds would go into an area and redistribute the land from the nobles to the peasants. When the whites came in, they would take the land away from the peasants and give it back to the nobles. This is a very broad outline of these events. There are many excellent books on the subject and if you are interested, I would recommend that you read three or four of them to get a clearer and more detailed picture of these events.

Why did the Soviet Union become so rampant with corruption post-Stalin?

Compared to the modern Russia, corruption in the USSR after Stalin’s death until somewhere in the 1970s was not rampant.Bribes were ubiquitous, but these were one-off affairs. Money and favors exchanged were simply laughable by today’s standards. A bottle or two of expensive booze, a few sexual services, a week’s worth of industrial salary, a pack of smuggled cigarettes. People simply were too poor. The effect of Stalin’s purges sat on a subconscious level. You don’t fool around being in a position where all your predecessors were shot or arrested for God knows what.Police and secret police went about their job very seriously. They were a privileged class, and their performance was measured by number of crimes and perpetrators they managed to bust. If they were too lazy to do the rounds, they would gladly cook up one for someone random. The same was true for Communist functionaries. If you as a head of the local cell allow people around you to steal too much (and get caught), you shoot your own career in the foot. There’s something in the old Russian urban culture that resists corruption. Both my parents didn’t know how to give bribes. They simply could not find the words or the voice for that. I learned the simple beauty of bribing myself first in the 1990s, as a world-weary 30-something, long after the Soviet rule was gone. This changed with Brezhnev on the throne (1964–1982). The man was simply too self-indulgent and generous to people. “If we don’t get to Communism by 1980, let’s at least have fun”. Fish gets spoiled from the head, as we say in Russia. Bureaucrats on the top received the signal loud and clear, and it rippled wide across the empire.Leonid Brezhnev and the Bond girl in 1971: Live and let live.
