This Microsoft Outlook Configuration Tutorial is a step-by-step guide on how to configure your Microsoft Outlook email client in order to make it work with your web-based email account.

Step 1: Open Outlook, and click on the Tools menu. Please, select E-mail Accounts...

Step 2: Select the option Add a new e-mail account. Click 'Next'



Step 3: Select the type of account you would like to create (IMAP or POP3)



Step 4: Fill in the Internet E-mail Settings fields as follows:

Your Name - Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of all outgoing mail
E-mail Address - Enter the email address which the others will use to send email messages to you.
Incoming mail server (POP3/IMAP server): yourdomain.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP server): yourdomain.com
User Name: please use the full e-mail account name. Example: you@yourdomain.com instead of you.



Step 5: Click on the More Settings... button

Choose the Outgoing Server tab and check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.

Check the option Use same settings as my incoming server.



Step 6: Choose the Advanced tab

Here you can choose if you wish to Leave a copy of the messages on the server or not.

Please do not use secure authentication as we do not support this method.

Click on YPOPS link on the left.
Then Click on Configuring email clients towards the bottom.
Choose the appropriate link for your mail client.

I currently utilize version 2.0.0.4 of Thunderbird
and version 0.8.3 of YPOPS (there is a more recent version of YPOPS that you need if you are Yahoo Beta Mail) and have no problems.

Yahoo email settings for Outlook?

I have an existing yahoo email account established. I recently bought a new Dell laptop and installed Microsoft Office 2007 software which comes with Outlook 2007. When I am on craigslist.com - looking for jobs, I click on the hyperlink to respond to a job and the "Outlook 2007 wizard" says I'm not completed yet.

What are the yahoo email settings that I need to use to set up Outlook to support my yahoo email address?

Yahoo Mail offers standard POP3 access for receiving emails incoming through your Yahoo mailbox, by using your favorite email client software.

To setup your email client for working with your Yahoo account, you need to select the POP3 protocol and use the following mail server settings:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110) if Use SSL then Port 995
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25) if Use SSL and TLS then Port 465

- If you are using the paid (Plus) version of Yahoo-Mail:

I am not 100% sure, but POP3 is not accesible to all free mailaccounts, maybe only for UK, NZ and AUS, not for US and other countries.

Yahoo! says:

Upgrade to Mail Plus so you can:

* download your Yahoo! Mail in an email client, such as Outlook
* forward your Yahoo! Mail to a different address

I know that Gmail comes with POP3, IMAP, import, forwarding etc. for free.
