What Are The Essays On The Ap World Test 2014

What did you guys get on your 2017 AP tests?

Despite my courseload, I elected to only take the three AP tests that my college would accept: Calculus BC, and both Physics C.When I walked out after taking both Physics exams, I felt like collapsing, or screaming, or eating a gallon of ice cream. I felt awful about those tests, as did all of my classmates. At most, I had thought I scored a 3 and a 4 on them, which were irrelevant because my college only accepts 5s. I had hoped these tests was going to go well, after many successful practice tests and A+’s all year in class.Walking out of Calculus only confirmed my fears about how awfully Physics went. Calculus comes naturally to me, and I almost had fun during the exam. The AP Calc Exams are much easier than my teacher’s in-class tests. I was sure I had secured a five.Fast forward to July 5th. My friends posted a website that will grab your CollegeBoard information. I wasn't going to use it (viruses, ya know?), but when alll of my friends started posting their scores… well, let's just say peer pressure is a magical thing.I may have felt like screaming after the Physics exams, but I did scream after seeing my scores from it.Fun fact: I didn't tell my family until the next day because I didn't want to have to explain what a VPN was.

Advice for AP World History?

lol the whap exam is so easy dont wrry about it. Almost 92 percent at my school get above a 3 on the exam haha...Don'r ruin ur summer too much. You will learn all you need to know throughout the year. To help in prep for the ap exam tho, you could use the ap review book to help review class material as you learn in and in preparation for the in class tests. That way, by the time of the exam, you will have already gone thru the book at least once! I know i am an extremely bright student so maybe i'm biased when i say it's really easy, but yeah don't wrry abt it over summer. I literally didn't even write one of the essays correctly to its prompt and i still made a 5 haha

What is the best AP WORLD HISTORY prep book?!!?

There are several good AP World History review books. Many students also find the Barron's Flash Cards helpful.

The key is to find one you will work all the way through. A great book that you don't use is not nearly as good as a good book that you use thoroughly. The key is to work through the entire book and do all of the practice exams with the same time constraints that the real exam will have. Then check your answers. It is crucial that you spend time understanding why you get questions incorrect and why the correct answer is right. If you do this you should be in great shape.

I have put together a collection of the best AP review books by exam at http://www.APReviewBooks.com. In addition to study guides, each exam has information about the exam format and links to released questions to previous exams.

It is important to start reviewing early and not wait until the last minute this will give you time to learn any topics you are struggling with.

Good luck on your exams in May.

Mike

What are some good study tips for the AP World History Exam?

There are a variety of things you could do to study for the AP World History Exam, of which I am going to do to prepare for the test myself, which is only around 3 weeks away now, I believe.KEY CONCEPTS!!! Can’t stress this enough. This is what is going to be on the exam. Sure, you could say that your AP World History textbook has all the content that will be on the AP World History Exam, however, knowing the key concepts and how to demonstrate your understanding of each of them is crucial for success on the exam. The official AP World History course description by CollegeBoard has a list of the key concepts that you need to know. https://secure-media.collegeboar... It starts around Page 20, I think. However, this is only the list. For detailed information regarding each Key Concept, I would suggest these two websites: AP Worldipedia (AP Worldipedia - AP Worldipedia) and this Wikispace Site (AP World History). Read the Key Concepts, like, every night!Study your notes! If you’ve been a good student in class and have taken all your notes, study them. They’re your own notes and they will be very helpful to you. If you were one of the slackers that BSed their notes or copied other’s notes, it won’t be as helpful.John Green’s Crash Course videos! John Green has made some really great videos on World History, 72 in total, with two series, the first with 40 videos, the second with 32 videos. I’ve started this so far, and I watch around 3 a day, which is a healthy amount. They’re pretty informative and nice to do when you are tired from studying or doing homework, as you just have to watch and listen (not really do any work). They’re on YouTube, search it up.Review books! Yes, a review book would be very helpful. I recommend REA AP World History Crash Course as it contains all the information that you need to know in a time saving format (so you can cram, or if you don’t have enough time). If you get the 2017 edition, the essay formats have been updated, and you can definitely use their sentence starters to make your essays more professional and to ensure that you get the point.Best of luck on the exam! :)

How many AP tests did you take during high school, and what were your scores?

Total of 9 tests. These are a little fuzzy.European History: 3 or 4?Chemistry: 3Physics: 3U.S. History: 4…? Yes.Calculus AB: 4?U.S. Government: 5English Language: 5English Literature: 5My crowning achievement - AP Econ: 1The story behind my AP Econ class is fraught with frustration and anger and a general sense of exasperation from all of my high school classmates. We banded together and made a pact to all get 1s (it wasn’t hard - we all learned nothing in that class, taught by an immature, disrespectful man whose concept of teaching was playing episodes of Seinfeld and The Office all class period). By senior year, motivation was low all around. One of my girl friends scored a 2 and everyone was outraged. How dare she!Ultimately, they were a waste of money and time, and I wish the whole system was done away with. It’s just another way to bloat your college applications, and they didn’t amount to much in terms of giving me course credits at Amherst. There is, however, an unfortunate sense of urgency that compels students to enroll in AP courses to “stand out” on their college applications. I believe I would have been much better served taking the Honors equivalents, without the stress of having to prepare (that is, cram and memorize everything) for the AP tests. If you’re stressing about AP tests in the coming weeks, try not to freak out. As you can see, my smattering of sub-par scores didn’t affect my future much. That’s true for most everyone.

What is the best way to do chapter outlines in AP US History?

First anyone who took AP US History before 2014 probably shouldn’t be answering this question as they will have taken a test which is drastically different from the current iteration. The new version of the test which came out the year I took the class is designed to test what the College Board calls “historical thinking skills”. The biggest change in the new test is that they changed the multiple choice. Instead of asking stand alone questions they now give you some sort of stimulus(a map, a historical document, etc.) and then ask you a set of questions VERY LOOSELY based off of it. This means that it is no longer necessary to remember any exact dates. What you need to know is approximately when something happened. You also need to understand what the College Board calls “periodization”, so basically the similarities and differences between different time periods. You also need to be able to explain causes and effects for different events. You also need to be able to assess economic, political, and social changes within and between time periods. These are also tested in the essay portion. So basically your outlines need to lend themselves to learning these “historical thinking skills”. What I would do is list the major events in the chapter. Then contextualize what caused these events, what were the results of these events. Write down some similarities and differences between the time period described in the chapter and previous time periods. Make note of economic, political, and social changes. That’s how I would do it if I actually bothered to do outlines or take notes. DISCLAIMER: I did not take any notes nor read a single page of the textbook. I did however receive a 4 on the AP test. So while I might not be the best at taking notes, I know how to beat the test and that is by learning and practicing the historical thinking skills described above. If anyone has any note-taking tips to meet those objectives don’t hesitate to comment. If you have any other questions relating to any AP class (I pretty much took and earned college credit in them all) let me know, I’ll be happy to help.
