How do I write a formal email to my professor to regrade my test?
I’m going to disagree here and say that an email is a fine and potentially good starting point. The problem with face-to-face meetings is that it’s easy to get off on the wrong foot. In an email, you can write the message, not send it, review it, get input from others, and avoid escalating the problem.Don’t ask the professor to regrade. The email should look like this:Dear Professor Gross,My name is Foo Bar and I’m in your XX123 course. I have some questions about the exam; is there a time we can meet to look through my work?Sincerely,Foo BarYour professor might know you, making the introduction unnecessary.The advantage of this is that you are not accusing anyone of anything or claiming anything. You want to talk and get some clarification. It’s not going to surprise the professor that you want a higher grade if possible, but the key here is that you are admitting that you might be wrong. Starting with that will go a long way toward lowering stress.When you meet, be clear about your concerns, and focus on your work and how it was not sufficient. Before you go, make sure you’ve read through the instructions carefully; the most common reason students miss points (besides not knowing things) is by far failing to read and follow instructions. Also, go in with the goal of learning and improving. Let the grading fall where it may; one exam is usually not a huge deal.
Is the correct grammar "I look forward to meet you" or "I look forward to meeting you"?
