Ever heard of coital cephalgia? Are there any cures?

Also known as "sexual headaches", coital cephalgia are a rare type of severe headache that occurs at the base of the skull before orgasm during sexual activity, including masturbation. The pain usually moves from the base of the skull through the head towards the frontal lobes. Extremely severe and sharp pain behind the eyes is also a symptom. The headaches usually have an immediate onset and typically last for a few minutes to a few hours, although it is possible for such headaches to last up to a few days.

More prevalent in men, by a factor of 3 or 4:1, these headaches appear in roughly 1% of the population, though it has been suggested that the prevalence may be higher, due to the embarrassment of presenting with the disorder, especially in cases where spontaneous remission occurs after a few days. It is important to see a doctor if you have such symptoms in order to rule out a potential brain aneurysm, or tumors. In most cases, these headaches are benign. More serious symptoms include a stiff neck, confusion, and dizziness. For example, a man could conceivably argue against sex on the basis of a this condition, riffing on the classic "Not tonight, I have a headache" routine.

Little is known about the cause or treatments for sex headaches. Some scientists suspect that a history of high blood pressure, or pre-existing migraine and psychological factors may contribute, especially episodes of increased stress and anxiety. A concern outside of physiological problems is that persons who are affected by sex headaches will develop a fear of engaging in sexual activities or masturbation.

As for treatment, a doctor may recommend abstaining from sexual activities and masturbation for a short period of time ranging from a few days to a few weeks. In addition, Propranolol may be prescribed. Reduction in weight to a more ideal level and increased exercise may also reduce the likelihood of recurrences.

What is post coital tristesse, how do I know if I suffer from it and is there any treatment?

This syndrome is described as post sex agitation, aggression, anxiety and or melancholy which you feel after sex as opposed to the euphoria one normally feels. As far as telling you how to know if your suffer from it only you can answer that question if you have the above symptoms. It often happens in people who have numerous sexual encounters with strangers who you have no feelings for. People who are lonely often try to find someone by having sex with them on a first date.  Afterwords they realize they have just had sex with a stranger they have no bond to.If you have a regular partner who you care about or even love and have this syndrome it could be caused by mental illness or even hormonal imbalances.Your best bet is to see a counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist who can get to the root of the problem.  It is not incurable and the longer you put off getting help the worse it will get. Good luck

Do non-cardio-specific beta blockers cause hypoglycemia, and if so, how to deal with it?

Well In general beta-blockers( cardio-specific and Non-cardiospecific) are generally avoided in diabetics not because at clinical doses they cause hypoglycemia but they can mask or prevent the symptoms of hypoglycemia (e.g increased sweating, palpitations, lightheadedness and shivering etc) from occurring in the first place and that can be dangerous for a diabetic patient as due to the masking effect of beta-blockers even if a person is hypoglycemic he/she may not feel any symptoms as a result will not take necessary measures to correct their hypoglycemia and that can be catastrophic. Also as far as beta-blockers are concerned it has been seen in many experimental studies that these cardio-specific beta-blockers lose their selectivity at very high doses so essentially at very high doses all beta-blockers are non-selective. So that's why all beta-blockers are relatively contraindicated in diabetics. But if there is an indication for beta-blockers in a diabetic patient(e.g heart failure,SVT,AF etc) we generally prefer most cardio-specific drugs like Bisoprolol or Metoprolol etc but the risk of their masking effect still remains. So for such a diabetic it's better either to strictly moniter their blood sugar levels, take meals at regular intervals or stop taking anti-diabetic drugs that cause hypoglycemia (e.g sulfonylureas, insulin,Meglitinides, TZD's)

Whatr are headaches caused from besides stress??????

I'm not sure.
But when I was little I would always have my hair up in a tight ponytail
and I always got headaches.
It somehow had to do with my hair being tight?
It could just be a reaction to some medication or something.

Can masturbation or sex cause an aneurysm?

If you have an aneurysm you wouldn't have lasted 3 minutes, let alone three days.

So the answer is no (it is not impossible, just very unlikely) - sounds much more likely that you have something called a benign coital headache - but far more common in men than women, who tend to have them more often when sex is in the offing, than after, I'm told.

However a headache lasting any prolonged time needs investigating - so you should go to you doctor if it carrries on.

Why do I get a headache as soon as I orgasm?

Check out Coital cephalalgiaThe pain usually moves from the base of the skull through the head towards the frontal lobes. Extremely severe and sharp pain behind the eyes is also a symptom. The headaches usually have an immediate onset, with some gradually worsening during sexual intercourse and others (referred to as "explosive headaches") occurring almost instantaneously at the moment of orgasm. It normally goes away after some days, maybe up to 2 weeks. The reason is, that blood rushes to your head, but it cannot be transported that fast... And yes, that is totally annoying. What you can do to reduce the effect is do not rush that fast to a orgasm. Make it slower :-) Therefore the blood rush is also not that fast.Means: more foreplay^^
