When Prophet Mohammad was told by Allah that he was the first Muslim, then why do some say that his predecessors, including Jesus were Muslims as well?

Prophet Muhammad wasnt told that he was the first muslim. Islam didnt start in Arabia with Prophet Muhammad.According to Islamic theology, Adam from the Bible was the first human, the first prophet, and the first muslim. Islamic sources claim that before Prophet Muhammad, 124K prophets and messengers were sent to different regions all over the earth, each one entrusted with the message of Tawheed (uniqueness of God), in their respective languages. So those prophets propagated Islam in their local languages and were probably called muslims in their native tongues. The fact that only those who are mentioned in the Bible are repeated in the Quran is a topic of another debate, but according to Islam, humanity started with monotheism,which later corrupted into individual sects and polytheistic faiths.Out of those 124K Prophets, some of them are Moses/Moosa (the most mentioned prophet in the Quran),Noah (Nuh), Lot(Lut), Abraham(Ibrahim), Joseph(Yousuf), Zacchariah(Zakkaria), Jesus(Isa), Jacob(Yakub), John(Yahya), Jonah(Yunus), Ishmael(Ismail), etc. Notice that all of these are repeated from the Bible, no prophet is mentioned who was sent to say, Japan, Australia or America.These prophets might have been Jews and Christians, but Islamic theology states that they were just prophets who preached the oneness of God, whose messages were corrupted by later generations. Until Prophet Muhammad came in the Arabian desert to perfect religion for all mankind,regardless of the fact that people living in far away lands in different geographical and social conditions had no chance to learn about him for centuries,so they might have been condemned to hell now for not being muslims. And since he was an arab, the religion was called Islam and the followers were called muslims.

No, Islam is very much not a sect of Judaism. The Quran specifically contradicts the Tanakh in many instances. Muslims regard the Tanakh as filled with major scribal mistakes, to such an extent that, although they view the hypothetical "original document" as holy, the "original" would bear virtually no resemblance to the Tanakh as it exists and has existed throughout history.There are indeed many similarities of practice, doctrine, and some scriptural parallels between Judaism and Islam, but that does not make one a subset or variant of the other.I'm going to disagree with Shulamit Widawsky regarding her comment about Christianity. Christianity maintains the Tanakh as part of their Bible, and originated as one of many sects of Jews during the Second Temple era. Personally, I don't think that modern Christianity is a sect of Judaism either, but there is a much stronger argument to me made for Christianity being a sect of Judaism than for Islam.
