What Are The Set Texts For English Literature A Level

Is English Literature A level hard?

I am choosing to do A level English Literature also next year, and speaking to a friend who got an A at it at A level and is currently studying Law at University said as long as you prepare, practice and put your mind to you are able to achieve a decent grade. The key is to plan and prepare. This will give you the upper edge when it comes to the test. For example practice questions, essays etc are brilliant as it familiarises you with the types of question, but also how to answer them and how long to spend on them. Also the Russel group universities (the top Uni's in the UK) view English Lit as a brilliant subject as it develops very good writing skills and techniques that will help you in almost any white-collar working job.

English Literature Help!!!!!?

The plot is basically an outline of what will happen in the story so 'Plot - Establishes an order of events'

The setting is where the story takes place and it sets up the mood in a way e.g. if the setting is in a haunted mansion then the atmosphere would be tense and edgy so 'Setting - Contributes to the mood'

Conflict is the problems that causes issues. These issues usually affect the characters and this can lead to fighting between characters so 'Conflict - Builds the tensions between or within characters'

No character = no overcoming problems = no story, therefore 'Character - Acts to overcome obstacles'

The theme is normally some sort of message or idea that keeps coming during the story e.g. if the story takes place in a war-torn country with the character overcoming the problems that come with living in that country then the theme would center around war and the effects of war. For that reason 'Theme - Conveys a message or truth about life'

Hoped this helped!

How do I prepare myself for the NET English literature?

One has to prepare from the very beginning of the history literature…As such you cannot find any syllabus…because the questions range from the author of a book to in which year did the foreword of a particular book get published…Follow the timeline and put as much as possible in your head… you must have sufficient time in your hand as you need to prepare and remember a lot…New literature like Canadian, Australian,African etc must be followed along with recent authors and their books … don't go too deep just prepare the basics but on a solid ground…As for paper 1 you should get hold of some good teaching and research aptitude book … you can do so for the second paper too as you will have an idea about the past years' question pattern…Leave nothing out of the syllabus but at the same time don't stress too much…All the best!!

I need desperate help with my gcse english literature exam answer, any response would be much appreciated!?

From the AQA website - All specifications in English Literature must require candidates to demonstrate their ability to:
AO1
• respond to texts critically and imaginatively; select and evaluate relevant textual detail to
illustrate and support interpretations - It sounds like you've checked this box
AO2
• explain how language, structure and form contribute to writers’ presentation of ideas, themes
and settings - and this one
AO3
• make comparisons and explain links between texts, evaluating writers’ different ways of
expressing meaning and achieving effects - and this one
AO4
• relate texts to their social, cultural and historical contexts; explain how texts have been
influential and significant to self and other readers in different contexts and at different times - and I think you've done this too.

to be honest it sounds like you've written three excellent pieces there, the points you've made are excellent so providing you've written them in a clear way (which i'm sure you have) then it should be fine. It's a shame you didn't have enough time to finish your point about the unknown girl but you shouldn't lose many (if any at all) for that and you seem to have hit all the assessment objectives so i'm sure you'll do just fine! so stop worrying and good luck with your other exams!
