What Are The Travel Restrictions For Israelis Living Abroad Who Have Deferred From Military Service

Is an American-born child of an Israeli citizen compelled to serve in the IDF?

I worked for Taglit (Birthright Israel), and we had this issue with American born children of Israelis that were interested in participating.Essentially, you are not compelled to return to Israel in order to serve in the army. However, if you have an Israeli passport and you do return at any time after you are 18 years old (even as a tourist), you will need to serve in the army and you will be drafted. If you don’t come back to Israel, you will not be drafted nor will you be compelled to leave the United States to come to Israel and serve. There is the possibility that you can try to get a draft exemption, but you need to go to your local consulate or embassy in the United States BEFORE you make any trip to Israel. From my recollection, you will need to do this sometime after your 16th birthday.Any exemption paperwork you receive needs to be carried with you and your Israeli passport when you arrive in Israel. Do not assume that just because you received your exemption that they will have some sort of electronic copy of it or record. Assume the exact opposite of that.If you have Israeli citizenship or passport, DO NOT try to avoid being drafted by entering Israel with a non-Israeli passport. This is illegal.

What happens if a dual-citizen is drafted by both countries to which the person is a citizen of because the two countries are at war with each other?

Assuming the person is a citizen of the United States and goes to war with the person's other country of citizenship in most cases the person will be guilty of treason against their other country. So what happens depends on the person and their other citizenship. If they are more loyal to the USA than their other country and the other country permits renunciation, they renounce their other citizenship. If they are more loyal to the other country than the USA, they depart the USA and go to a US embassy overseas to formally renounce their US citizenship prior to engaging in hostilities. If they are more loyal to the USA and their other country considers them a citizen-for-life and does not permit renunciation, they need to notify the US government that their loyalty is to the USA and they renounce their allegiance to their former country officially and they can be considered a traitor for bearing arms against their former country if posted there during hostilities.  Many nations with such policies will usually execute you if caught in arms against them. That's really it.  Otherwise bearing arms against the USA while still a US citizen constitutes treason.  18 U.S. Code § 2390 - Enlistment to serve against United States Whoever enlists or is engaged within the United States or in any place subject to the jurisdiction thereof, with intent to serve in armed hostility against the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both. Not a death penalty offense by itself but if you're a naturalized citizen, you'll be stripped of your US citizenship following your prison term and deported.  This, of course, assumes other laws of war aren't in effect and you aren't conveniently shot for espionage. In my case, should the Cola Wars ever spill over from Canada into the USA, I'd have to make a choice.  Service against either of my nationalities constitutes treason and I need to renounce one before taking up arms.  For me that would probably mean a trip to Washington DC and then a request to the US military to not post me on the Ontario front lines.

Do any Jews realize that Lying, killing, and the pursuit of money and power, are not endearing qualities?

Dd, I think the point will be lost on many here, but dare you say that they should not be exterminating another race (Lebanese Arabs) and you wait and see the response you get.

Of course not all Jewish people support the genocidal actions of their government, just like the majority of people oppose Bush's attack on a sovereign nation resulting in the ending of tens of thousands of Iraq lives, opening the can of worms that is civil war, and creating more terrorists and terrorist actions than the people had ever previously experienced.

The problem with the Israeli sympathisers and they cannot see it is they claim terrorists are threatening them and their lives, but it is ok to terrorise and kill Lebanese women and children in pursuit of a group they are too afraid to face head on, despite their supposed military superiority, and result to the cowards option of lobbing bombs from a distance. Shame on them.

bumpocooper, our tax dollars are enough thanks. From a discredited adminstration to a discredited terrorist state.

What would happen if Malaysia and/or Indonesia invaded Singapore? Would Singapore be able to defend against the invasion? What's the implication of this scenario?

With all due respect. If malaysia and Indonesia joined forces to destroy singapore. They will easilly do so. Indonesians have 210million population, a fierce army (although equipment is outdated). Singapore only has around 3-4 mio tops, and that numbers includes kuniangs, elderly, kids, the rich (who probably be the first one to flee), good paid employees with many things to lose, etc.Singapore would be a small red dot, if both indonesia and malaysia carpet bombed singapore, or launch a few ballistic missiles every missile would be a hit since every inch of singapore is densely populated.Sure singapore will hit back and hard but sorry, realistically speaking without nuclear or wmds the odds are too big. Even when malaysia and indonesia stupidly makes blunder in the war on the grand scheme of things the numbers and casualty would be something that's out of the question for Singapore.Singapore might retalitate in johor but they have not enough manpower to secure it, best case scenario they can strike back and hold johor, kl, Jakarta, batam, that's 4 major cities with millions of occupat. Jakarta alone has 12m population. How does singapore find enough people to control the city? One guy has to watch and control 10 people, and that is if you include the kids the women and the elderly. The war on attrition would be hugely against singapore as for 1 singaporean has to fight against 50 indonesian plus 15 malaysians. The only question is at what cost?Although luckily i dont think this will happens. Singaporean wont surrender, foreign nation would intervene, sanctions, the us will play their parts, and the actual prize of Singapore is her people, if you invade and kill everyone inside singapore is nothing but a piece of worthless land which malaysian and indonesian has plenty of.EDIT: I’ve lived in Malaysia/Indonesia/Singapore for a time, and I have no hate/favor towards one another, and this war will never break out in real life, but in quora universe, with the assumed constraint (No Outside interference, no WMD) there’s not a chance Singapore could win. The only question will be how much of the enemies they take down with them before the city falls.
