Awesome series which is aired on History channel so you can understand the amount of detailing you will find in the season. 4 seasons have come till now.The Last Kingdom - Based on a similar theme as of Vikings where the people of Wessex try to defend their kingdom against the Vikings. One Season 1 has come till now.Black Sails - Set around the era of mid 16th century when England was trying to annex the West Indies which was a paradise for the Pirates. 3 seasons have come till now.Marco Polo - Marco polo the adventurer servers in the court of the great Kublai Khan. Great series with some awesome actors . Focuses on the Chinese culture since Kublai wants to rule whole of China. 2 seasons have till now.Da Vince's Demons - This series will show you the the various side of the the great Da Vince’s who not only was a great artist but was also a great scientist and great war engineer. Full Roman culture is shown here with nice script. 3 seasons have come till now.Spartacus - Another good series which shows the entire life style of how Gladiators train and fight. Naturally because the LGBTQ+ community is hugely under represented or misrepresented. TV is one of the most powerful mediums to spread awareness, communicate ideas and entertain. From election of world leaders to the latest advances in the sciences, a vast population of the world still gets its information from television. And what better way to promote equality and representation of characters than through new tv shows!They help break stereotypes and give the audience a chance to understand their characters over a period of time which is not possible via other mediums like movies. Even a movie about homosexuals typically lasts 2–3 hours and the amount of money and time needed to invest in one is more compared to tv shows.In tv shows like Glee, Queer as Folk, Modern Family etc we see the characters going through the trials and tribulations of their life like everyday people and we see how they fulfil the various roles as well as any member of a responsible society. We see them beyond their sexual orientation how they play the role of parents or siblings or students or friends like everyday people. Basically, they give viewers the time to analyse that LGBTQ+ people are no different from them.This is certainly a very progressive attitude and tv studious are banking on this progressive behaviour to promote their shows. Shows with LGBTQ+ actors/characters bring diversity to the show, make them more inclusive to attract a section of the population that has been marginalised and mistreated since the longest of times. Moreover, it sets a trend and brings something new to the screen. We have all seen platonic romances or break ups but most would be clueless about the workings of a LGBTQ+ relationship and their perspectives.
