What Are The Twelve Ways This Christmas

12 Dental Days of Christmas?

In making this up, I _tried_ to stick to more or less the original rhyme. For instance, it says, "11 drummers drumming," so I wanted to rhyme with that. But, I CAN use "11 Cleaners Humming," so thanks Lillian. I do like "lights a'curing," though. And yeah - I know we don't use Novocaine, but I just sounded better than all the current brands to me. "Cartridge" rhymes with "partridge." Maybe "Prilocaine" is closer to "pear tree..."

The "fingers typing" was to acknowledge the front desk.

THANKS and keep them coming!

Algebraic equation to twelve days of christmas?

The formula for expressing the sum of consecutive integers is:

TOTAL = (n*(n+1)) / 2

So, the sum of the numbers 1 through 5 equals

(5 *(5+1) / 2 = 30 / 2
= 15

SO, for the 12 Days of Christmas you would get
(12*(13))/2 = 78

Then of course if you had to determine the sums of 12 through 1 , 11 through 1, 10 through 1, etc
then you would add

78
66
55
45
36
28
21
15
10
6
3
1

With a total of
364

Is there a formula for summing the sums of consecutive integers?

What is Christmas?

Christmas is a winter festival celebrated on December 25th around the world in countries influenced by the Christian faith (and on January 7th by some countries that follow the Eastern Orthodox calendar). It traditionally lasts for twelve days until the feast of the Epiphany on January 6th but it is focussed on its first day.Christmas in the Christian tradition is the festival that marks the birth of Jesus Christ, whom Christians regard to be the Son of God. The date does not correspond to the actual date of his birth but was chosen in the early centuries of the Christian era as the date of the "mass of Christ", hence the name of the festival. In most cultures Christmas is far more than a religious festival and it has become attached to other midwinter celebrations, some of them much older than Christmas itself, including the ancient Roman Saturnalia and the Norse festival of Yule. Christmas is also a highly secularised festival in many parts of the world and an excuse for winter revelling and merriment. It has become associated with over-indulgence and commercialism. For children it is very often about receiving presents, part of a long gift-giving tradition associated with the Christmas season. In some cultures the gift-giving is more connected to St Nicholas day (December 6th) or Christmas Eve (December 24th).Christmas is also known as the season of goodwill and good cheer and has been widely celebrated in popular culture in music, literature and film.

How do Christmas celebrations differ between the US and UK?

I've lived and celebrated many Christmases in both countries. But left the UK 35 years ago, so much of the following is based on history:In England we would wait until Christmas eve to put our tree up. We left it up for 12 days (the twelve days of Christmas). In the US the trees go up as soon as the day after Thanksgiving, and come down the day after Christmas. (Actually, my family stuck with the British tradition after moving to the States, and people saw us as eccentric). Also in the UK there is Boxing Day (December 26th), which is a public holiday. That doesn't exist in the States.Santa Claus in the US is called Father Christmas in the UK.The Brits have a tradition of going to pantomimes (musical comedies) during the Christmas season.I think it became politically incorrect to send Christmas cards and say "Merry Christmas" to people in the US (to be replaced with "holiday cards" and "Happy Holidays") a long time before that happened in the UK. But I think it has spread there too, now.Americans (the politically incorrect ones) say "Merry Christmas". Brits say "Happy Christmas".If I think of any other differences I'll add them.

Do Amish people celebrate Christmas?

If you are referring to the Catholic Holy Day of Christmas, technically known as The Nativity of the Lord, then no: no Protestants ever celebrated Christmas, and the Puritans who founded the original 13 Colonies were particularly “anti-Christmas”, which after all refers to Christ’s MASS, the holy Mass celebrated on the feast of Christ’s birth.Catholics have always gotten the day off on major feast days, and were to refrain from work, and attend Mass. The Puritans were so AGAINST Christmas that they legislated that people MUST attend work on Christmas, etc.The Amish are in the same mold. As we have gotten further and further from our religious roots, even some of the Amish are now accepting a few customs with the secular celebration of Christmas, but certainly not the Catholic Holy Day.

In how many ways can Troy select nine marbles from a bag of twelve?

Combinations without repetition (n=12, r=9)

C (n,r)= n!/r!(n-r)!
=12!/9!(12-9)!
= 220
---> That was solved with a scientific calcuator.

220 entries. = Troy has 220 ways to select nine marbles from a bag of twelve.

Combination problems are quite easy, I hope you study and figure them out yourself.
