What Are Those Hanging Seats Toddlers Are Put In Called

What are those things called that you put on furniture legs to protect your floors?

The ones that sit on the floor are called caster or coaster cups. The ones that slide right on to the leg itself are sometimes called crutch tips. They both come in various sizes so you need to know what size your furniture legs are .What I do in a case like that is take a small piece of cardboard and slide it under the leg so it makes an indentation in it.Then you have the right size to take with you to your home building center or local hardware store. Good Luck !

Infant car seat in a 2000 Mustang?

I have a 2000 Ford Mustang and I placed the infant car seat that I bought in the back seat to see if it would fit. I was able to put the base in and buckle it in but about half of the base hangs over the edge of the seat. I have the front passenger seat moved as far front as it goes and it touches the top of the car seat. Is any of this safe or should invest in a bigger vehicle?

Should i put my daughter in a rear facing seat?

The baby can turn forward at 2 per the AAP http://aapnews.aappublications.org/conte... but the NHTSA recommends rear facing through age 3 http://www.nhtsa.gov/ChildSafety/step2

Here's a visual explanation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sssIsceKd...

Here's my list of recommended car seats with rear facing weight limit in parenthesis:
Sunshine Kids Radian (now Diono) (65SL (now R100) - 40 lbs., 80SL (now R120) or XTSL (now RXT) - 45 lbs.)
Britax Marathon 70/Boulevard 70/Advocate 70 CS (40 lbs.)
Safety 1st Complete Air (40 lbs.)
Learning Curve True Fit models (35 lbs. but taller than most)
Graco MyRide 65 (40 lbs)
Evenflo Triumph 65 (40 lbs.)
Evenflo Momentum 65 (40 lbs.)
Cosco Scenera (35 or 40 lbs)

How old was your baby when you started leaving the car seat in the car?

This might seem like a dumb or obvious question, but it's really something I'm wondering!

My daughter is 8 months old and it's really getting to be a pain in the butt carrying her carseat inside up 2 flights of stairs at our apartment, or hauling it into the store and putting it on a shopping cart. I have one of those shopping cart covers, but it's been really cold and rainy lately and if I'm going in somewhere, I don't want her to get rained on so I usually end up leaving her in the carseat and bringing her in like that.

What age was your baby when you just left the carseat in the car and started carrying your baby into your house, into the car, into the store, whatever?

How do you go shopping alone with a stroller?

You don't put the car set in the shopping cart. You don't say where you live. In the US, the markets have special shopping carts with a baby seat attached. You can purchase special covers to line the baby seat before you set the baby in.

Some moms use two shopping carts: they set the baby in his car seat in one and then collect the groceries in the other. It takes some efforts, but you push the baby ahead, and drag the loaded cart behind you.

I did the two-cart method. It's a pain, but you do what you must.

Wait until you have two toddling along beside you AND one in the buggy. Now that's a party!

Good luck!

Car seat concerns?

Get a good convertible car seat. Cosco Alpha Omega is one that works well for my family. I have also heard many good things about Britax brand seats. They are expensive, but perform very well in crash tests.

Your child should stay rear facing as long as possible for maximum safety, keep him rear facing until he reaches the height and weight limit of the convertible seat. Under NO circumstances should a child be turned forward facing before one year old! The whole point of a car seat is to protect your child in the event of a crash. No seat can protect a child whose body is too young to be forward facing, and who has been turned too soon.

Ask yourself: which looks more likely to cause severe injury or death to a small child?

Having the legs folded is not hazardous. Having their skull yanked forward and then snapped back during a crash is. My fourth child stayed rear facing until he was two. My youngest is only 4 months, but I assure you she will stay rear facing until I have to turn her around due to the height and weight limits of the carseat, even if that means she's still rearfacing at age 3. She's far too valuable! :-)

Why do people put toys / dolls in the back of a car?

When I bought my car, I was genuinely excited about the ownership. I actually bought a stuffed Winnie the Pooh to be kept at the rear. My reasons were as follows:Because I had seen others do it and I thought it a nice ideaBecause it would be a sort of personalization of my car. Bumper stickers get dirty with time, decals are more long lasting and expensive. I already had a car hanger/ dangler in the front, I needed something at the rear, so stuffed toys. The toy I eventually got was a dangler (it had a thread attached to Winnie's head with a suction pad at the end, which could be stuck and hung from any vertical surface). The toy lasted in the rear for a month when I removed it to give the car for servicing. Henceforth, the toy sits on a table in my bedroom, and my car is empty (I'm not the decorative sort anyway). As others have mentioned, people mainly keep toys, cushions etc for mere decoration. It's nothing to do with warning fellow drivers about kids in the car. There're proper "Baby on Board" and "Kids on Board" stickers to warn other vehicles about the car's occupants. Likewise, the toys aren't always for kids' play because such toys would be strewn in the rear seat. Also, kids usually go out with their own favourite toys. I can say this because I have known people with kids, who don't keep toys in their cars, and I know people without kids who keep toys in their cars.Nowadays I keep a bobblehead in my car in the front to entertain anyone riding shotgun.
