What is your favourite video game music?

Oh! Oh!I sense a soul in search of answers…Nope, can’t play it cool. I so got this! For me - the music makes the game more often than not!Others have mentioned Skyrim - and with good reason. Here is the London Philharmonic’s beautiful rendition of Jeremy Soule’s ‘Far Horizons’:While I’m agreeing with other answers, I give a big tick to Darren Korb’s music for Bastion and Transistor, the music from Ori and the Blind Forest, and many tracks from Final Fantasy (Terra’s Theme comes to mind!).The Civilization series - Civ 5 for a taster! For me, Brazil’s war theme from Civ 5 by Geoff Knorr is a favourite (Brazil - Pedro II) as is the haunting Field of Poppies from the same game:The composers/music directors for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt absolutely killed it. Some of the most powerful moments for me didn’t even appear on the soundtrack (e.g. the Phantom of Eldberg contract in Skellige) but here’s one example that did make the OST for the Blood and Wine expansion, ‘Seeking Resonance’ by Marcin Przybyłowicz:Those who recognised my opening line will know that this was coming: Diablo and the ‘Tristram’ theme. It’s just… just… look, just know that I took the time to learn to play a sad simulacrum of it on my guitar. On the topic of Blizzard games, it may not have aged nearly as well, but I still have a particular weakness for the Warcraft 2 soundtrack. I could put the game CD in any old CD player and the music would play. That was cool as shit for teenaged me.Homeworld 2’s greatest moments came with great tracks - the Movers were scary as the first time through and it was all down to the sound! That said, some soundtracks don’t survive all too well being transplanted away from their original context and sadly, HW2 is one such.Chrono Trigger had a ton of sweet tracks, and its main theme was also covered by the London Philharmonic!I think I am about done for today but don’t think I’ve forgotten:This is my kind of question!

What is your #1 favorite song from a video game?

Oof. Hard to pick. Can I pick two options?Supergiant Games must be doing something right, because another option already listed Transistor. However, I absolutely love the song “Setting Sail, Coming Home”, from their game Bastion. This song is actually a combination of two themes heard earlier in the game, “Build That Wall” and “Mother, I’m Here”. I recommend listening to those two songs first. The next song goes by two names, ether “Aria of the Soul” or “Poem for Everyone’s Souls”. It is an opera-like aria from the Persona series of games. This song plays in the Velvet Room, a reoccurring location in the series where you summon Personas, beings from the Collective Consciousness of humanity. This song has no words, but conveys the mystery and beauty of the human soul, almost like a song sung not FOR your soul, but BY it.

What is (are) your favorite piece (pieces) of video game music and why?

I love the soundtrack for Ar nosurge Ode to an Unborn Star. It wasn't the best game I ever played by a long shot but the story and characters combined with the soundtrack made it something memorable, the music is just haunting and sticks with you, it makes the major game events really stand out in your mind. Here’s a few of the tracksbecause of the soundtrack, this is one of the most unique gaming experiences I’ve had.

What is your favorite video game soundtrack from a Microsoft game?

I don’t really like most video game songs are really repetitive. The ones that look like a real soundtrack are normally classical music with some faint chorus:Similar to gladiator movie soundtrack. they sounds cool during the game (or movie) it is boring to hear during the day.BUT, there is one song:It starts the same classical+chorus deal but then… classical rock (I guess?).The rest of the soundtrack is the same classical+chorus idea, but that song is really different and uplifting.

What is your favorite Video game soundtrack to listen to while working?

I like to listen to light music when working. Especially JPOP music. I think these songs will make you work better. You will not regret it1. Lemon – 米津玄師2. Umi no koe – 桐谷健太3. Inochi no riyuu4. Arigatou5. Best Friend6. Sakura

What is your favourite movie or video game soundtrack?

GamesMy three favourite Game Soundtracks are-1. UndertaleMost folk on the web, even those who aren't particularly fond of this game, think the Soundtrack is amazing.2. Vampire-The MasqueradeI could listen to Lecher Bitch for hours. Every song fits the scenario quite well. Each nightclub has its own song for the soundtrack, whereas most games just reuse the songs from earlier.3. Most Pokémon Game Battle ThemesI love every song from Pokémon Red and Blue, Cynthia’s theme is beautiful, and Pokémon Sun/Moon has arguably the best set of themes in Pokémon history.Honourable Mention - World Of Goo.Am I the only one who remembers this game? I loved everything about it. The challenging puzzles, the Sign Writer, MOM, and especially the final level of Chapter 2. I can still hear the final level music in my head.Movies1. SerenityI is Firefly nerd. But that doesn't bias me AT ALL.Seriously though Serenity’s soundtrack is perfect and beautiful and now Ron Glass is dead so I cry even more watching this movie.Ron Glass - Wikipedia2. Star WarsNeed I say anything?3. How to Train Your Dragon (Both)Though I personally prefer the sequel, both movies and their soundtracks are perfect. I suggest Where No One Goes (Dragon 2) and Test Flight (Dragon 1)\U0001f409\U0001f4324. Moana/Hunchback of Notre DameMoana is my all time favourite Disney movie. And I adore every second of it, including the songs. But, to be perfectly fair, Hunchback has a better soundtrack. Hellfire gives me chills, and the whole thing just has the perfect songs matched to the perfect scenes. But those F’ing Gargoyles! NO.Honourable MentionAll the other Disney movies.Lion King especially.
