What are your thoughts on the girls name Sonia?
I like Sonia. My husband actually saw it on Yahoo! Answers about a year ago and decided it was his favorite girls' name. So it became #2 on our list, right after Clara. It's not the usual style I go for. It doesn't quite have that Victorian vintage feel of so many of my favorites. But I like that it's both simple and elegant, and it's a two-syllable A-ender (which I tend to like). Its Russian heritage lends it just a little bit of exoticism, but its sound is all simple and sweet. And it perfectly strikes the balance between not too common yet very familiar. Plus, since it comes from the name Sophia, it would be a GREAT alternative to that top-10 choice. And it means "wisdom." All in all, I think it's a great choice. Either spelling works, but I prefer Sonia personally. Sonia Genevieve sounds great! I love the rhythm of a two-syllable A-ender with a three-syllable consonant-ender (Clara Anneliese, Leda Gwendolen, Anna Juliet, etc.). We have Sonia Marigold on our list -- Marigold is to honor my husband's grandmother, Floris Marie (since Marigold is floral and starts with "Mari.") Remember how I didn't like Camilla Genevieve as much because I thought both names sounded too upperclass so the whole combo was just a bit snobby? Well, Sonia's sweet vibe is exactly what Genevieve needs. And both names are just a little bit exotic yet still very familiar. Love, love, love! P.S. I met a couple last weekend who are about to have a daughter named Sonia Jasmine.

Like (Steph- en) not Steven or Stephan. Just random. I'm obsessed with The Vampire Diaries and was wondering what ya'll thought of the name. I have grown to like it since I'm in love with him. Hahhha.

i love it! it is unique name and its very pretty. a lot of people don't have the name so now people will hear it again!! Hope that helped!
What do you think of the name Elena?
I'm not pregnant, I just like watching that show "the vampire diaries" and the main character's name is Elena (yeah I know it's totally dorky for an adult to watch teen vampire shows but I don't care). Anyway it made me think of how pretty the name is, and it has a cool meaning "bright, shining one." Am I alone on this or do you think Elena is a great name for a girl?

I'm really starting to like it! I like the spelling Marcos better... but which one do you like Marcus or Marcos? I'll probably wind up calling him Marco, which I think is adorable. (Despite the character on Degrassi, which I happen to love.) The only thing is, I can't find a middle name to go with it. Suggest one, please? Can you also tell me what type of person you associate this name with? BQ: His sister's name will be Elena Katherine, Leni for short. (E-LAY-NAH / LAY-NEE). Can you suggest another boy's name to go with Marcos and Elena - Marco and Leni? Do you think Marcos and Elena sound nice or at least 'okay' with each other? I really like the name, but I feel like there is a large potential for pronunciation problems, so it turns me off the name a tiny bit. I know how I pronounce it. How do YOU pronounce it? Also, if you happen to actually know an Elena (with this spelling), how do they pronounce their name? Thanks! :)

I love the name Elena, it is very feminine and elegant, it is a timeless classic. And it ages really well too. Middle names: Elena Charlotte Elena Catherine Elena Grace Elena Ruby Elena Gwendolyn Siblings: Elena and Lydia Elena and Julia Elena and Juliet Elena and Isabelle Elena and Catherine Elena and Sofia Elena and Alice Elena and Adele Nicknames: Elle, Ella, Lena, Lennie, Ellie, Elen, Eli Very beautiful name indeed. :-)

This VERY talented young lady is Miss Elena Ling House. Elena is EVERY BIT as breath taking and accomplished as mentioned and much more. What Is Your Honest Opinion Of The Name Elena + BQs?
Yes, I really like the name. It's really pretty, classic, feminine, traditional, but still pretty unique. I also like that spelling and pronunciation a lot. It also has really nice nicknames: Elle, Ellie, Ella, Lena, or Lainey. :) I think it's a great name for a girl, and would be a nice, strong, and beautiful name. BQ1: Johanna, Matthew & Elena would be a lovely sibset. Even the nicknames work too: "Joey, Matty & Ellie", "Joey, Matty & Lainey" or "Joey, Matty & Lena". No matter how you slice it, the name works well with big sibs. BQ2: Catheryn is a nice name, but I don't really like that spelling. Katherine or Catherine would be a lot better. :) Elena Isobel would be pretty, but doesn't really flow well because of the vowel transition from the end of Elena to the beginning of Isobel. Georgette is nice, but it's not one of my favourite names. Chloe is a bit too "young-sounding" for Elena in my opinion -- it needs a much more classic, feminine name. Elena Violette Marie is gorgeous, but not if you pronounce it differently -- the French way is awkward in this combo, but the English "Violet" pronunciation works really well (but if that's how you pronounce it, then why spell it differently?). Elena Violet Marie would be gorgeous!!! Favourite: Elena Violette Marie (but especially Elena Violet Marie) Least Favourite: Elena Catheryn Marie (only because of the spelling) Suggestions: Elena Caroline Marie Elena Charlotte Marie Elena Vivienne Marie Elena Evangeline Marie Elena Josephine Marie Elena Jacqueline Marie Elena Beatrice Marie Elena Rosette Marie Elena Juliet Marie Elena Pearl Marie BQ3: Nothing really comes to mind -- it's the name of a girl, so I guess I would think of a girl. I think the name is pretty, so I think of a pretty, nice, and sweet girl. The name also ages well, so I also think of a strong, but nice, and pretty older woman too. I can imagine a female of any age pulling off the name Elena well. Also, I knew a girl with the name Elaina -- she was very annoying, but this doesn't ruin my opinion of the name.
