Well, as a long time music fan (I got my first official album, The Beatles’ Revolver, in 1970, when I was 11) and a long time Tom Petty fan (first saw him in concert in August of 1979 at the Universal Amphitheatre in L.A. and had You’re Gonna Get It in 1978) I don’t know if I can pick just one song as his best, but if I had to, it’d probably be Free Fallin’. I love its weightlessness, the way it hangs in the air and its lush pastel colors. It’s just an incredibly beautiful and moving song - and damn near a piece of musical perfection.But other favorites include Learnin’ to Fly, A Face in the Crowd, Luna, Mystery Man, Listen to Her Heart, Strangered in the Night, It’s Good to Be King, Square One, You Don’t Know How It Feels, You Wreck Me…I could go on…and on. Tom Petty is truly one of the greatest songwriters of the rock era, up there with Lennon, McCartney, Bowie, Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Sorry I can’t be more precise, but there’s just too many good songs to choose from.

I’m not a huge Petty fan beyond liking a few songs and liking what he stood for as a musician. I’m not sure how obscure it was but I had never heard of it when introduced maybe 10 years ago to it. It’s “The Last DJ”. It’s my favorite Tom Petty song. It was released in 2002. Tom Petty song help please : )?
to the navy guy - no this is my only account. And I did google it and even look on wikiepedia but can't find anything definitive. On wiki if you look up each song it doesn't mention ANYTHING about Tom Petty, but if you search for Tom Petty lyrics "Runaway Train" will be there, even though other sources doesn't mention him at all for that song (just mentions Soul Asylum). And thanks for your absolutely useless answer.
How is Tom Petty Ugly?
I know that so many people out there call him ugly, but I really can't see how. I mean, he's not really that good looking today, but I think he was pretty cute in the 80s. I mean, he's (in my opinion) not just sexy/ugly, but sexy/cute. And keep in mind that it's only my opinion. Don't start yelling at me about how "wrong'' and "stupid" and "blind'' i am. Thanks!!
Tom Petty = Creepy?
Yeah, his videos are strange. "Don't Come Around Here No More" > That video was creepy. Plus, now that he has that beard he kind of looks like Charles Manson. However, he does make good music.
