What Bands Sing Many Sad Songs And Play Sad Music

Why do people love sad songs?

People like sad songs because of either empathy or connection. The sheer emotions let out so honestly in those beautiful ballads we come across over time make us fall deep in the melody, so much so that you feel YOU are the one singing them, that YOU are the one who's heart is being poured out - irrespective of whether you've gone through a similar experience or not. When you listen to “The Scientist" you know even Chris Martin regrets the past, wishing he could go back and change it.When you listen to "Someone like you", you imagine how hard it must be for Adele to see the love of her life getting married to someone else. When you listen to "You're beautiful" you can empathise with James Blunt for falling for someone whom he had no chance with. When you listen to "Somebody to love" you wanna shout out with Freddie Mercury in those cold lonely nights. When you listen to "Miss Atomic Bomb" you can feel the pain in Brandon's voice for letting his girl go out of mere jealousy and misunderstanding. When you listen to "Yesterday" you are just as perplexed as Paul McCartney thinking *sings* why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.Sad songs get you through the times when you don't think your issues are big enough to bother your best friend with, when the nights are lonely and you miss home, when you feel like cherishing some memories and through all the irrational mood swings!Sad songs are beautifully haunting. People like them because they can connect to them. Even the most introverted of us all want to let out their feelings sometimes, to talk or maybe shed a tear or two. Sad songs let you do that in your heart, they let you do that all by yourself. They make you feel that you are not alone, those amazingly talented Artists become our companions, our on-the-go therapists.Excuse me, I think there's something in my throat. *Puts on the headphones, goes and lies quietly in the corner*

What are some sad songs to sing/play on piano? Examples?

I am wanting to learn a few new songs to play on a piano. I am looking for sad/emotional/touching songs such as

Evanescence - Hello
Gary Jules - Mad World
Coldplay - The Scientist
Love Story Piano Theme

Songs like that..can be instrumental or not. If anyone has any recommended songs to play or even listen to, please let me know. Thanks.

What bands sing many sad songs and play sad music?

The Fray's songs usually all deal and talk about suicide and loneliness...

Ex:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdY0CxiZul0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nUuBjz4Vhc

The Fray still writes music but they changed now meaning that instead of sad depressing songs they're starting to sing more happy dance/rock songs!!!! ;D

Also Jamestown Story has a sad very depressing song 'Goodbye I'm Sorry...' and it talks about a teen boys struggle with depression, self-harm, and suicide...

Now I don't know much about Jamestown since this is their only song i'I've actually listened to so I don't really know anything...sorry!

Sad Songs From Musicals, Broadway about Loss, Friendship or Death?

We're doing a play this fall about a girl who looses her family in a tornado, and she has to cope with it, and her friend helps her along the way.
we always have a theme song to go along with our play that we sing during warmups as a group.
I need a song (preferably from a musical) that deals with loss or friendship
any you can think of?

Why do people like to listen to sad songs?

Music is expressive. When i'm happy, i tend to listen to upbeat music and avoid sad music. When i'm sad i listen to sad music. When i'm dealing with a problem i listen to music about the type of problem i'm dealing with. Most people listen to the type of music that fits their mood, since that's what music is all about. Expression.

Why do I like sad songs so much even when I'm not sad?

I love sad music, I've been told to much. Literally had a friend say “why do you do this to yourself. Example from my top 5 favorite bands is Modest Mouse. Now to answer your question, it is because sad music usually is the realist and purist in my opinion. The best songs ever written in my opinion are those that make you feel sorrow, nostalgia, and grief. There is a beauty and necessity of pain and sadness…. For instance some love song can bring negative feelings because God, how do I still miss her? What is she doing? Her laugh and smile then in a instance you are able to almost relive some of y'alls happiest shared moments. You remember, its up to you to feel sour about reliving it… I say embrace it, it happened and will forever be apart of you.Sad negative lyrics can be political also forcing you to think about it… which is good. I hope I'm not alone feeling this way either. It's important to REMEMBER bad and good, and to think about current global/political issues.Kendrick Lamars recent album (DAMN) I think years from now will be renowned genius. Off that album, song- pride“Now, in a perfect world, I probably won't be insensitiveCold as December, but never remember what winter didI wouldn't blame you for mistakes I made or the bed I laidSeems like I point the finger just to make a point, nowadaysSmiles and cold stares, the temperature goes thereIndigenous disposition, feel like we belong hereI know the walls, they can listen, I wish they could talk backThe hurt becomes repetition, the love almost lost thatSick venom in men and women overcome with prideA perfect world is never perfect, only filled with liesPromises are broken and more resentment come aliveRace barriers make inferior of you and ISee, in a perfect world, I'll choose faith over richesI'll choose work over bitches, I'll make schools out of prisonI'll take all the religions and put 'em all in one serviceJust to tell 'em we ain't shit, but He's been perfect, world”

Why do depressed people like listening to sad/emotional songs? Shouldn't they listen to happy songs to improve their mood?

… I’m not going to answer your question, Elton John(with Bernie Taupin) is:Guess there are times when we all need to share a little painAnd ironing out the rough spotsIs the hardest part when memories remainAnd it's times like these when we all need to hear the radio'Cause from the lips of some old singerWe can share the troubles we already knowTurn 'em on, turn 'em onTurn on those sad songsWhen all hope is goneWhy don't you tune in and turn them onThey reach into your room, oh oh ohJust feel their gentle touch (gentle touch)When all hope is goneSad songs say so muchIf someone else is suffering enough oh to write it downWhen every single word makes senseThen it's easier to have those songs aroundThe kick inside is in the line that finally gets to youAnd it feels so good to hurt so badAnd suffer just enough to sing the bluesSo turn 'em on, turn 'em onTurn on those sad songsWhen all hope is goneWhy don't you tune in and turn them onThey reach into your room, oh oh ohJust feel their gentle touch (gentle touch)When all hope is goneYou know sad songs say so muchSad songs, they saySad songs, they saySad songs, they saySad songs, they say so muchSo, turn 'em on, (turn 'em on), turn 'em on, (turn 'em on)Turn on those sad songsWhen all hope is goneWhy don't you tune in and turn them onThey reach into your room, oh oh ohJust feel their gentle touch (gentle touch)When all hope is goneYou know sad songs say so muchWhen all hope is goneYou know sad songs say so muchWhen ever little bit of hope is goneSad songs say so muchWhen ever little bit of hope is goneSad songs say so muchWhen all hope is goneSad songs saySongwriters: Bernie Taupin / Elton John_______________________________________________________I think that says it better than anything I can come up with……others can disagree.
