Minorities receive special treatment and benefits is just a made up myth, agree or disagree?
Affirmative Action=special treatment Hate crimes legislation=special treatment (I don't see whites on the list of protectees) Racial quotas in the United States began to be implemented with government approval after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 In a 1973 court case, a federal judge created one of the first mandated quotas when he ruled that half of the Bridgeport, Connecticut Police Department's new employees must be either black or Puerto Rican. It's interesting how a simple internet search can prove someone so totally wrong.
What are benefits of being a minority by religion in India?
Being a minority, you’ll get the benefits only if you are declared as minority.And once your caste is declared as minority, you’ll get all types of benefits in education and government jobs in terms of fee concessions and reservations. You’ll also get the benefit of getting selected with low marks than the general category with much higher marks. You will get age relaxation for giving government job exams.There is a list of other endless benefits which a declared minority gets in India.But the harsh reality is that the actual minority class for whom these rules are made, get none of these benefits as higher class declared minorities steal all the benefits and getting richer.This gap between rich and poor is only increasing day by day.
Why do Mongols and Manchus receive minority benefits in China even though they were the most privileged people in the Yuan and Qing dynasties? Why are Hui people classified as an ethnic group when the only difference is in religion?
Because the modern China is a republic for all people, not a revenge on previous dynasties. Recognized minorities are granted with privileges regardless of their histories. How privileged they are depends on their current status, not their status hundreds of years ago.In the Chinese criteria for ethnic groups, religion plays an important part. Because Han Muslims are distinctively different to the other Han people in religion, they are classified to be a different ethnic group. This probably would not happen if the Islamic culture is, say, 80% similar to the Chinese culture.At the end of the day, the culture is a more direct reflection of how a person behave in a society than his DNA or what his ancestors did in the past.
As jain has come under minority therefore what are the benefits or services which a minority can enjoy under education, jobs, etc.?
as a minority we are entitled to receive minority scholarship by Government of India on higher education(PG/UG),we are elligible to receive 50% of the fees refund for which the limit is set up as 25000/-.There are no other benefits jain enjoy as a minority ,now a days the fee for higher education is so high that 25000 hardly matters.....
How did New Deal benefits apply to women and minorities?
Federal Housing Agency stopped black from moving into white neighborhoods and some public works projects refused to hire blacks. AAA pushed African Americans off their farms because it paid the White landowners not to grow food. When they received this money they dismissed many tenant farmers and workers. Recipients of AAA money were supposed to share with their Black workers but the reality is that this wasn't done. Social Security left out blacks because it was only those who worked and paid FICA tax into the system would get out of the system. Since many African Americans either worked "off the books" or for cash they never paid in and thus never received Social Security. Jobs - WPA developed a non discrimination policy. Widows and wives of disabled men were allowed to receive jobs through the WPA. The WPA, NYA, and CCC relief programs allocated 10% of their budgets to blacks (who comprised about 10% of the total population, and 20% of the poor). They operated separate all-black units with the same pay and conditions as white units.
Why do minorities get special treatment?
It's not true that businesses require a certain percentage of their employees to be minorities. Businesses are expected to make jobs more publicized and accessible to minorities - not necessarily to hire someone less qualified. To hire (or not hire) people on the basis of race, colour, religion, national origin, or gender would be a violation of Title VII.
Do Minorities Get Special Treatment?
I was looking online and found out that in congress, there is a Congressinal Black Caucus and a Congressional Hispanic Caucus, but there is no Congressional White Caucus or an accepted one if there is one. What if White Congresspersons would create one, would they be forced to resign under racism charges?
