Subplot Ideas For My Story?

Hello friends,

I am working on writing a book and I've come to ask for a little help. A need some ideas to get my mind cranking so I can brainstorm some good ideas. No, I'm not asking you to write my story with or for me. I would just to kick my mind in gear and other people's ideas tend to inspire me.

All I know about my book that I'm writing is it's going to be about two girls - we'll call them Character A and Character B. Character A is helping Character B because Character B is suicidal, suffers from depression, anxiety, and some other physiological problems. So, Character A helps Character B (because they're best friends) by taking her to group therapy sessions. There will also be a part where Character B is going to jump off a building, or some type of suicide attempt, and Character A saves her.

Now, this isn't very original, is it? That's what I thought. So I decided to give it a little twist.

It turns out that really Character A is the one with all these problems and Character B is the one trying to save her. Confusing, right?

Other words, Character A is actually the crazy one and she's not going to realize it until the end of the book. Or near the end. So, it was really Character B taking her to group therapy, instead of the other way around, and it was Character A who was trying to jump off the building, per se, instead of Character B.

Hopefully, you understand what I'm talking about because I know the concept can be a bit obscure.

That's all I have up to this current point. Now, this is where you all come in. As you can see, I only have the main idea thought up. I'm curious to see if anyone has any intriguing subplots? Perhaps a little side romance idea ( I was original thinking that, maybe, the two girls could be lesbians... but there needs to be other characters involved and a side romance and a boy might fulfill that need). Or something dramatic could happen at their school that involves either Character A or B. I don't know.

I love out of the ordinary. I love twists. No idea is stupid.

What is a subplot?

In a novel, the main storyline is the plot. If some asks, "What's the book about?," what you tell that person is probably the plot, the main storyline. There are no doubt other secondary or subordinates storylines that may or may not affect the main plot. Those storylines are the subplots. The story of Boo Radley is a subplot in To Kill A Mockingbird. hamlet's relationship with Ophelia in any Hamlet. A love affair in a war story is a subplot. Television shows have subplots, too. A show might have a storyline that runs through the entire season. Each week, the individual episodes might have subplots that are resolved within that episode. A good example is  "Sons of Anarchy," which had a main plot line through its entire run, and dozens of subplots that resolved over one, two or three few episodes.

I don't get what a subplot is!?

A subplot is a smaller plot within the plot of a movie or story, usually to keep the reader engaged or to provide more detail about a character.
I can't think of a good example in Finding Nemo right now, but strangely enough, I recall one from Twilight (I'm assuming you either read it or watched the movie). Jasper's/Carlyle's/Rosalie's/etc. stories would be considered subplots.
Of course, in most movies and books there are several subplots. There is much more to a story than just beginning, middle and end.

What is difference between Plot and Story?

The Story is the entire description of what is to happen in a book, screenplay, script, manuscript, etc. The story would involve the events, characters, Act I II III structure, the conflict and the climax to everything.

The Plot is a part of the story that is considered in main or sub categories. A plot follows some particular characters and their story throughout a book, screenplay, etc. in simple words, it goes along the story as it changes.

Example - Lord of the Rings Trilogy (is a Story) - The Fellowship (is the Plot, it is the main plot in the story because you see the making of the fellowship, the breaking apart, the coming together at the end and finally the ending) Aragorn and Arwen (Subplot - this is just a little part of the story, not everything revolves around it) Gimli and Legolas (Subplot - their friendship is a little part of the story)

Example - Ben-Hur (is the Story) - The love between ben-hur and esther (subplot) The life of Jesus (is the subplot) ben-hur meeting the sheikh and the chariot race (subplot) the conflict between ben-hur and messala (is the plot) Ben-Hur's faith (is another plot)

What does "subplot" mean?

A subplot, sometimes referred to as a "B story" or a "C story" and so on, is a secondary plot strand that is auxiliary to the main plot. Subplots may connect to main plots, in either time and place or in thematic significance. Subplots often involve supporting characters, those besides the protagonist or antagonist.

How does a subplot support the main story?

Best practice is for subplot to connect to the main story, provide important but not crucial background or character details.Subplots are best written when they intertwine with the main plot in such way that it remains clear which one is the main plot, but also for readers to immerse in the subplot so that in some moments it gains prominence of the main plot.In contemporary writing, you can weave several subplots so that they all connect to a powerful finish…

How do you come up with and write a subplot for a film?

THIS IS THE BEST! Imagine a film about you writing a screenplay. You are in your own subplot in your own story right now!You are writing a screenplay, it is going well but there is something missing… Hey a subplot, yeah that’s the thing, but how to get a credible subplot? Ask quora. When you get your answer, your subplot is now almost finished. When you find it, write it and resolve it, then complete the rest of the script. Your subplot and now the story is complete.Subplot can be anything else that comes up in their journey, perhaps they meet someone looking for a lost puppy. Things throughout the adventure hint and nag at the characters. An hour later they find the puppy and return it to the owner. Learning something about themselves and each other in the process. Not to be confused with obstacles that are just the problems that get in the characters way throughout the story that they must overcome.Best of luck in your film.
