What Can I Do About An Afterschool Schedule

Boarding school schedule?

i bet it depends on the level of the boarding school but the one i attend has been great so far; i am loving this experience of boarding before college and hating the academic rigor because even though that is the reason i applied to boarding school, i was not used to getting anything below an A. this is my schedule on a good day
7am- wake up, get ready
7:30am- dining hall. breakfast sandwich or waffle or bagel. theres a bunch of other stuff but these are my favorites. we have really good food actually, better than all the colleges i have visited so far
8am- class. sometimes i have this free like on thursdays and can sleep in
9am- class. dissecting weird organisms
10am- class. integrating stuff
11am- class. pondering the meaning of life
12pm- dining hall. eat. gossip. study for test
1pm- free/ give tour to prospective students
2pm- class. test. bs my way through
3pm- done with class!
3:30pm- sports! i play field hockey in the fall, ice hockey in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring
5:30pm sports end
5:40pm dining hall. eat everything in sight.
6:00pm or 6:30pm club meeting or chorus or other meeting of some sort
7:00pm start my work in the library
8:00pm procrastinate
9:00pm chill out with friends, eat ice cream
9:30pm must be back in dorm
10:00pm studying
11:00pm studying frantically
12:00pm give up. roommate is asleep but i still have work because i procrastinate.
1:00pm my friend who also procrastinates like its her job comes in my room to join me. we do calculus together. ***** about grades and gossip about college
1:30pm fall asleep during english reading

on bad days, i wake up early to finish homework. but basically that is like an average day.

i go home three times a year because i'm international and plane fares are not cheap. but most people go home every month or so

average boarding school size (in US) is 135 acres and 300 students

i am allowed to go offcampus. my town is considered campus. to go to a different town i must sign out. but no one really cares

i love boarding school! :D (except during the time period 12am-1am. then i hate it)

How much work do teachers have after a school schedule?

A lot of people have tackled the daily tasks, which are legion. In case the question was asking about the “off season”, like summer in the U.S. (for those that do not have year round schooling). This is when teachers tackle a lot of long term projects, improvements, and the behind the scenes work. This summer I am volunteering to lead a summer reading group, which entails reading the book with the students, planning the discussion on the return, & develop an escape room to help supplement discussion. I am also helping make sure all students (returning and new) sign up for one of the groups, update the website that alerts parents and students which group they are in, remind students who have not signed up, etc.I am structuring a whole new class, which involves creating syllabus, lesson plans, daily assessments, etc.I have a new teacher teaching one of my sections, so we need to coordinate our schedules, what talking points, moving to an all digital testing method (which requires importing all of the quizzes and tests into a new program). My department has been asked to create an writing/grammar assessment test.I am also directing a play next season, teaching at a summer camp, and volunteering. This does not include any professional development or teaching certification requirements. Oh, and make sure you keep up with the daily emails. So the summer is not a free time by any stretch.Thank you for reading. Hopefully you found it helpful.

What is your school schedule this year?

BQ: I'm going to be a junior! (11th grade)

My classes (I'm on block schedule so I only have 4 classes a semester)

Calculus
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Government and Politics
AP English Language
AP US History
Honors Spanish III

Then I have some after school classes at the community college, I think I might take some sociology classes.
In the fall I'm doing Sherlock Holmes Play so I have rehearsal every day from 6-8. Then in the Winter and Spring I have Varsity sports so I have practices and games. Plus I'm auditioning for Les Mis musical so I have rehearsal from 7-9 for that. I take some days off to participate in my clubs too :) I'm in 8 clubs, and hopefully the junior class president or student body vice president. I am REALLY HOPING to be on the school board as the first ever student rep

What is a good after school study schedule?

Probably getting back at home by 2 and lunch done by 3 pm along with some recreation.Thereafter, some studying from 3 to 5 and complete everything that there is. Take small breaks about 5–10 minutes in half hour or an hour however it suits you. Thereafter, enjoy some recreation, some snacks and tele or games whatever helps you relax for an hour. After that, if you want to continue with your work or study something else and do something that is productive and healthy and unique whatever you may like. Next, another break at 7:30 till 9, 9:30 when you have your dinner and more recreation. After dinner, it really depends on your biological clock if you prefer to get up at 4:30–5 am or rather sleep late and do what you like. If there is pressure of homework you can complete it, you can revise your lessons at school and study something further or unrelated from school you can even do other things like reading or listening music, etc. etc.Hope this helps! If you find my answer useful, then check out my blogs at The Stories of My Life and Duty Calls.

TEENS! What's your weekly after school schedule?

I'm fairly packed also,

I have Rugby Wednesday at 6:30AM, Monday after school and throwing practice Monday at lunch
I have weight room training at Lunch on Wednesday and After school Friday
I do Improv. Tuesdays at Lunch ( and occasionally after school)
And I help with food preparation within several school events.

Here's my schedule when I arrive home: (when I don't have something going on that day)
3:15 arrive home and eat a large snack
mess around until 4:30 (hang out with friends, etc.)
4:30 start my homework
7:30 finish
7:45 Eat dinner
8:30 Have a shower
9 Mess around until going to sleep
10:30 normally around the time I go to sleep

I completely understand what it's like to have a hard schedule. I dropped a sport and jazz band this year due to the high amount of work. Keep trying though.

Universities like it when you have done many extra curricular activities.

Drop your extra curricular activities if they're damaging your grades however, because your marks are priority. Good Luck!

What does the Japanese school schedule look like?

School starts at 8 am. Usually the first 20 minutes is dedicated to silent reading/studying or homeroom activities. Then the first period will begin 8:30-8:40. There are generally 6 periods a day, although sometimes only 5 on a special schedule day. Elementary school classes are 45 minutes long, junior high classes 50 minutes long. The first four classes are in the morning, then a break for lunch. Lunch is prepared and served in the classrooms, by the students. Lunch break is separate from eating time and is 45 minutes long. It seems pretty long since I remember lunch break in the U.S. being about 45 minutes - which included waiting in line for and eating food. This is a good thing of course, as the large majority of the kids play and get exercise outside during this time. There is no real "recess" though as far as I can tell, just the short breaks between classes (though sometimes I see kids play outside during these breaks, so maybe it is a short recess). Usually after lunch there is 10-2o minutes of cleaning. Sometimes this is at the end of the day instead or may be skipped in lieu of homeroom activities other days. Then 5th and 6th period. 6th period in junior high finishes around 4 pm (about 3:45 pm at elementary school). Then they usually have a "going home" meeting with their homeroom (kaeri no kai). Older elementary school kids usually leave the school around 4pm (quite late compared to my schedule as a child in the U.S.). Younger grades leave after 5th period I think, so around 2:45 (I usually teach only grades 5 and 6 at elementary so not so sure about this). At junior high, kids who aren't in any clubs can leave school around 4:30 pm. Kids with club activities have a short break and then practice until around 6 pm. So junior high kids are often at school more than 10 hours a day! It is pretty effective at keeping them out of trouble, but a lot of work for the teachers who thus also have to stay until 6, and for students, who still have homework, cram school, and chores to worry about! Excellent preparation for a life of drudgery as a salaryman though, I expect.

Getting fired over a school schedule conflict?

in the US:
NOT illegal (including the schedule that you claim is illegal)
NOT discrimination
Maybe not fair (but we only have your side of the story)

if you can NOT work as scheduled you need to discuss that with management.....
how long was the schedule posted and when did you let them know your school schedule?
did you explain how far you must travel after school gets out, have you requested they work with you on a different schedule?

the employer does NOT have to make changes for you and they do NOT have to make exceptions for you because of school BUT if you are a good employee, work hard and are making an effort to do the job to the best of your ability (and NOT making excuses) then generally they are more then willing to work with you on your schedule request.....

being pregnant does NOT mean you have to be treated special or any better then anyone else,
you can NOT use your being pregnant as an excuse for your inability to work as scheduled.........

"I work for walmart and that about said it all im sure"
that quote shows just what your attitude is, and says most of these problems are probably due to that attitude........

if you want to know what is and is NOT discrimination see:

What does it mean to have a block schedule in high school?

A block is schedule is designed so that your schedule is divided into two separate days. The first day you will have four of your classes (about 90 minutes long) and lunch... the second day will be your next 4 classes (again 90 minutes long)
The high school in the system that I work for has black and gold days. They give you a calendar at the beginning of the semester with dates and days labeled, so you know what day it is after a vacation and you don't get confused.
The purpose was to allow students 90 minutes a period so that they can finish those longer "labs" during class time or get instruction and guided instruction so that student have a chance to make mistakes and learn from them, before taking home homework.
