What Can I Do Or Who Can I Contact If My Doctor Can

Do doctors check for contacts?

I am not sure what the standard of emergency care is in different places, but around here, I have heard of medics removing and throwing away contacts in an emergency situation. So, I have heard of them doing it. I have no idea if it is standard operations proceedure. You could call your local ambulance companies and your emergency room and see what their policies are. I am sure that they would tell you and it would be an interresting thing to learn about.

Does 1800Contacts contact your eye doctor to check your prescription?

Legally they are supposed to. Most of my experience is that when one of my patients orders from them they do call me and I double check on expiration dates, proper power, and proper sizes. If any of it is wrong I fax to them the issue. If it is expired my patients do not get their contacts and call and yell at me, so I know that they do check. They got sued and heavily fined for NOT following the LAWS concerning contact lense prescriptions, so I think that they do try, to the best of their ability, to follow the rules. Sometimes, I am sure, that a few slip by the system. So good luck, they might ILLEGALLY refill your RX for you on accident. Why not call your Doctor and tell them what you want to do, and they might float you a couple of trial lenses until your appointment date, or they might be able to get you in sooner!?! Think of all that money you spend on internet and cell service and cable a year and compare it to the skimpy amount you spend on your eyes! THESE ARE YOUR EYES! Don't be a cheapie!

What can someone do if your eye doctor refuses to write a contact lens prescription?

The eye doctors office we visit has a stated policy on their wall that they do no write contact lens prescriptions. But, from what I have read, by law, they cannot refuse to give you the prescription once your exam is complete.
What course of action should be taken if the eye doctor refuses to give you a written prescription?

Can a life insurance company contact my doctor and ask for my health records if I did not provide consent?

They typically don’t have to. Life insurance companies have a tool they use called a MIB. Short for medical information bureau. Works like a credit bureau, but for your medical history. So similarly to when you apply for a auto loan the bank doesn’t call your credit card company, or your mortgage or credit card companies to see how reliable you are, they run a credit report, tells them your current.balances and if you were ever late in a payment. MIB works similarly, it has stastically compounded the data on doctor visits, surgeries, and medications you take. Hope this clears it up. Very rarely have I seen a insurance company reach out to a doctor for your chart personally. They don’t have to, the infomis there for them to Study whether you give consent or not..

I think my doctor gave me the wrong contacts prescription?

So she gave me -2.50 contacts for both eyes. I thought it was weird because the last time I had my eyes checked for eye glasses (10 months ago), my left eye had a stronger prescription. Now when I close my left eye and look out of my right eye everything is perfectly clear. If i close my right eye and look through my left eye, everything isnt that sharp. But the thing is, we just ordered and recieved a years supply of contacts from the office. What can we do?

Who do I contact if my prescription from my doctor was not received by the pharmacy?

Call your doctor. If the pharmacy doesn’t have it they can’t fill it. And they make money by filling your prescription so I promise if they had it they would process it.Check the pharmacy they sent it to. Verify they sent it to the right location. And ask them to do send it again! Scripts do get sent to the wrong place and also get rejected sometimes.

How can I get contact lenses if my optometrist (eye doctor) doesn't want to prescribe me them?

There are several reasons that an optometrist might not supply contact lenses. Some people's eyes are too dry to wear them for long without discomfort.Sometimes the degree or angle of astigmatism is such that stable vision is difficult or impossible to achieve with contact lenses. Some people are exposed to environments which can make contact lens wear uncomfortable. Some people display poor standards of personal hygiene which can lead to concern that they may develop an infection if issued with contact lenses.Children are sometimes not mature enough yet to be trusted to reliably follow whatever cleaning and use regime of the contract lenses the optometrist deems appropriate.Contact lenses are usually a significantly more expensive option than glasses for children and sometimes a parent will ask the optometrist in private to tell their child they can't have lenses simply because they can't afford this option. You say you are a minor but don't say exactly how old you are so the last two points may or may not apply.

What institutes/hospitals should contact if doctors can't diagnose my condition?

Just to add to the good answers already here:Responsibility for diagnosing a patient’s problem rests entirely with that patient’s physician, even if the physician (or physicians)are directly employed by a hospital.  The hospital, as an institution, has no direct responsibility for diagnosing patients or for making the kinds of referrals your question suggests. If you have a problem or condition that you feel has not been properly or adequately diagnosed, the first and best course of action is to seek the advice of another physician who specializes in the kind of problem you have.  There is a lot of information available on the internet to help guide your search for more information and an appropriate physician for another opinion, but do use established, reliable sites like WebMD—there’s a lot of misinformation out there, too.  The hospital does have a responsibility to make sure the physicians who practice there are qualified to do so, behave in an ethical manner, and so forth.  Depending on the nature of your concerns, you can certainly express them “up the chain of command” to your doctor’s clinical department head or someone in hospital management.  If you’re not satisfied with the answers you’re getting, you are your own best advocate and shouldn’t hesitate to speak up.  A final, cautionary, note (especially concerning what’s out there on the internet):  sometimes patients diagnose themselves and then go looking for someone to confirm the diagnosis.  “Shopping” for a compliant doctor who will prescribe medications  or perform specific surgeries the patient things he or she needs is a bad idea and can be very risky. Hope that helps.

How can I get to know if my prescription is sent by the doctor to the pharmacy?

Call the pharmacy and ask the person who answers if they can check and see if a prescription was called in for you. They will ask for your name and DOB, and look it up for you. If it hasn't been called in, check with your doctor's office again.
