What Can I Wear To Prom

Could I wear a hat to prom?

I'm a bit of a figure in my area and my girlfriend wants me to attend her prom. I don't go to her school but I'm one of the more popular guys with the kids that attend her school. Everyone is going to expect me to look my best and usually I have a signature "lid" you know those baseball caps with the flat rim. I didn't hear about and no one seems to know about any clear rules on hats for a prom, and the one I'm going to be wearing matches my tux and is mellow it won't draw much attention. Its going to be brand new so nothing shabby looking. I figured it'd give me a nice touch and reflect my style a little better. I know proms are formal but its just a hat and I figured it might not be that far out of the question. I won't wear it for pictures or anything, just while everyones tearing it up on the dance floor. Figured I'd ask if its a possibility before I made a fool of myself. Thanks for the help. :-)

Do you have to wear a tux to prom?

Not technically, but yes.If you don’t wear a tux to Prom, you’ll be one of, or possibly THE only one.Prom is different from Homecoming because it’s even fancier, a tuxedo fits the occasion. You should definitely rent them to save money though.Give this a read: How to Dress for Prom | A Young Man's Guide To Formal Menswear

Should I wear a tux or a suit to prom?

Conventional tuxedos are considered traditional and hence may look boring .On the other hand your suit may be a bit underdressed for the occasion .Take into account the ambience i.e whether it's more of a party or a traditional prom .Then another factor is your height .If you are shorter than most of your piers ,go with suit and tie .If tall ,get the classic bow tie look .Optimal solution : Black fitted blazer and trouser combo with accessory (bow or tie) depending on height .P.S - You can coordinate the colour of your tie or bow with what your partner will wear .That is what proms are for . :D

Can I wear my dress blues to prom?

That is up to you. People will be divided on this; some will feel that it's not an appropriate occasion, or that there are better choices (like a tux).

Personally, I think if that's what you want to do, then you should do it. It's not a poor occasion to wear them, it saves you a ton of money on a tux rental, and you've earned them at the end of the day.

What should I wear to a high school prom?

Am I late to the party? Yeah, probably. Oh well, it showed up in my feed and not answering it could keep me awake at night.Whatever you want. I’ll give a guys opinion here.I was 13 when I went to my first (and, incidentally, only) prom. In Australia we don’t have them, I was fortunate enough to be in the United States at the time. Now, 13 year old me wasn’t a good looking kid (and believe me, I’m definitely better looking now than I was then). Here’s a 13 year old me just before going to prom. Note how the arm length of the suit was too long, the left cuff isn’t right and I’m not wearing a watch. Also look at the hair, the pants and the mustache. Looking back, I wasn’t as “smart” as I thought I was. 10 years can change a man; and I’m bloody glad it did/does.Point being, I wore a suit to what would ordinarily be considered a “casual/business casual” event. And man did I get brownie points for it. If only I had a date, it could’ve made the night magical… but instead I goofed around with some of my American mates and partied like it was 2006; because it absolutely was.Being a 23 year old male who hasn’t done this for 10 years, I can’t give you much advice (assuming you’re a girl, that is) but if you’re a guy - dress to impress, man. Even if it’s just the teachers; suits are great. Just… don’t do what I did.SHAVE and do NOT wear a red shirt. I looked like a Mafioso according to one mate. But, hey - 10 years later and I still have the tie! It would also benefit you to NOT look like you haven’t slept at all since you were born. Then again, I really didn’t want any pictures taken. And yet this one survived…I’ll defer to another, more experienced, Quora user (who just so happens to be a lady) who can (hopefully) give you a woman’s perspective if need be. Kelley; you’re up.

Can I wear the same prom dress twice?

The Fashion Police will arrest you and throw you into fashion jail should you dare to wear the same dress twice to the same dance.

People forget that a couple generations back, all you had was two changes of clothing, one you wore all week and one for Sunday best.

Expectations are that you find another dress. Reality is that you may not afford to lay out the cost of a new dress. Check thrifts and 1/2 price stores to see if anything catches your eye in your size, you'd be surprised at the selection out there. IF you can't afford a dress, then add some embellishments to your old dress to change things up.

In the end, what you wear is what YOU can afford and desire to wear.
