What Can My Character Say

Why do anime characters say Do your best?

It's one of those things that appears a lot more often in translated japanese than in actual english, because of how it gets generated in the translation. See, the japanese actually have a single verb, 'ganbaru' (I think it's spelled that way), which literally means 'to do one's best [at whatever]'. In other words, for them it is linguistically as 'easy' as for us to say something like 'go' or 'stop' or 'run' (when we are telling someone to do that). But there's no brief equivalent in english, so instead we get the full phrase 'do your best' in the translation.

This isn't the only case where this happens. You'll notice there are other japanese words as well which require several words to say in english, and idiomatic expressions for which the english equivalent is not idiomatic. This is just one of the most common ones.

What movie and what character says "she can sue me, sue me sue me...."?

it's from the beginning of super troopers, and it's one of the pot heads in the car that gets pulled over. it's the guy that ends up eating all the pot and mushrooms

I move on easily. What does it say about my character?

It can mean several things. It can mean you are content with your life, you have figured out what you want and you are not going to let anything stop you in pursuit of your goals. If someone or something, a job perhaps, gets in your way and is not helpful towards getting you to your goal, you are able to let it go and walk away from it without regret. You know inside yourself that the right person or job will come along in the future so you are not worried about walking away from this present one.It could also mean that you are detached - from people and things. Maybe you have been hurt in relationships so many times that now you do not get deeply involved with someone - you are always ready to leave the situation if it isn’t ideal. This isn’t a good way to approach life - if you are detached from people you could end up alone, and also it would be difficult to be a good employee if you are a detached person working in a large office with lots of other people.

What can you say about characters, plots, settings and themes in a typical fairytale?

A typical setting is long ago and far away.A typical good character will be royal, holy, or generally special in some way. This may be the character who is the protagonist, or it may be the object of the protagonist's affection.A bad character will typically be an animal, or a humanoid who is atypical in some way. A bad character who eats humans is common. The protagonist typically has a special power, or a unique outlook, and that power or outlook plays a role in the protagonist's eventual victory.

Does anyone know which cartoon character says "To the Rescue!"?

It isn't any of the characters that any one has so far mentioned. This is going back a few years...maybe the 70's? It may have been a mouse and they take off saying..."To the rescue!" It's been driving my friend and myself crazy trying to think of who said that.

In what movie does a character say "that's my philosophy. That, and everybody wang chung tonight"?

Luke: No regrets, that's my motto. Well... that and everyone Wang Chung tonight.

I think that's the one you're looking for. It's from Out Cold.

Why do anime characters say things like "~Desu" Or "~De arimus" At the end of thier sentences?

Desu is actually used at the end of the sentence to imply the meanings: Am, is, to be, etc.

For example,
My name is BLAHBLAH would have to end in DESU, because the speaker is saying his name, or a state of being something.

However, Desu or other words are usually added to the end of random sentences as a habit.
For example, Naruto always ends with "Ittebayo" when he is excited.
Also, Momo from "MOMO", always ends with Noda.

It's one of those strange characteristics given to the characters to add charm or whatever.

In the movie Hostel what does the main character say in GERMAN when he is tied to the chair???

By the time i find that scene on my dvd, someone will have come back with an answer... I'll come back with an edit of the answer if no has it yet...

Ok, found that part. But my german isn't very good so you'll have to settle for the gist of what went on...

The guy is saying he's not from there and is asking the guy who is about to cut him if his wife and kid knows what he's doing. Then he asks if the guy would still be so eager to go on if he wasn't a foreigner. Then kinda loses it and starts begging for mercy.

That's the best I could do...hope that helps.

Why did my runescape character say taste vengeance?

I know it's a magic spell but I don't have it. I was just randomly fighting and all of a sudden it said you are unable to deflect damage, and then my character said taste vengeance! is this something new?
right before this girl was doubling money, could she have hacked me through doubling with some kind of thing to double money and like make my character messed up?

How do I respond to someone criticizing my character and saying I'm paying for my friends because I'm in a sorority?

Being in a sorority as well, I understand that struggle so well. I find most people who have this opinion and come off so abrasive are ones who are not in Greek life at all. To be in a sorority, you are held to a higher standard. You need a certain GPA, a specific amount of hours of community service and on top of all that, you have to balance any other challenges life throws at you. I lovingly pay my dues not because these women will not be friends with me if I don’t, but because paying them means I’m providing an opportunity for another women's life to be changed in a positive way. Being in a sorority you are given life long friends, and life long connections. Next time some one tries to tell you that you pay for your friends laugh and know that they don’t understand what its like to be in such a special and fantastic organization.
