The worst consequence of giving out that information for an adult is being pestered by junk mail and telemarketers. After all for most people that information is in the phone book. In the case of kids those are three pieces of information that I, as a computer tech working for a school district, advise them never to give out online. Keeping that kind of information private online helps provide children and teens a much needed buffer against online predators.

Hackers and normal criminals don't .There was an idea somewhere on Quora these days where this may have originated: the classical voice mail systems have a lousy level of protection. People can access your voicemail account with no big problems, unless you have given a real password. 99% of users have not given a password, or a password that is easy to guess. With listening into the list of voice mails, you can generate the impression that you have control over the phone (since you know a lot of the callers, including time of calling, messages etc.). Something like that must have happened on greater scale in the UK lately, and was reported in the press. Now it is a big hype.

wish some hacker finds a way to do that... anywayz no such way as yet.. and yeah options are - changing ur own number - blocking from the operators side - annoying them by answering and cutting on and off :D till they get fedup of calling or give someone who is jobless to speak with them or maybe u could put some annoying music just to make them feel like shissshhhhh crap have i got ma ears yet :d....

In order to track you through your phone number, they (whoever they are) would need - either an IMSI catcher (highly illegal in most countries, although it's a bit difficult to say against which law...) and be close to you (a couple of hundred meters) - or get access to your phone provider's database. This information usually (i.e. in most countries) is only given out either through a court order or (for some phone companies) to the contract holder - or after (i.e. exactly at that moment) when you respond to a SMS that request you to release this information Of course, that doesn't exclude the possibility of tracking your phone's location through any of a number of social networks you are participating in and on which you are sharing your location - but that doesn't have anything to do with your SIM or phone number. But in most cases, people won't care. Most people are somewhat used (if surprised) to false calls.
Can someone find out my phone number from my IP address?
So I'll admit that I chatted and exchanged emails with the same person from two different email accounts (both with different names, lol). And I just didn't trust them, so I wanted to see if they were telling the truth. Anyway, like 4 months later they began accusing me of being the other person. They said that they could tell by my IP address. I denied it, lol. But obviously thats indisputable. Could they find my phone number or address from my IP address?
Someone is giving out MY phone number as theirs. What can be done about this?
Someone is giving out MY phone to people, and saying it is theirs. They are giving out this phone number to debt collectors, and people they are trying to avoid. On average, i get about 15 calls a day for this person! Its getting on my nerves, and even when i tell them that person doesnt live here, it takes them a while to stop calling. As soon as i get one to stop calling, a new one starts. We have had this phone number for many years, so i know its not that he used to have this phone number..... And this person is CURRENTLY still giving out this phone number as his own! I had AT&T call me the other day, and say that he JUST made a purchase, and used MY phone number as his own! He hasnt been paying his debts, and they keep calling my house, sometimes when i am sleepying or eatting dinner. What can i do about it?
