What Can You Do For Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless Leg Syndrome?

I think I have it, even though Im 14 and it seems rare to get it at such a young age, my mother got RLS when she was 15. Here are the synptoms:

1] Uncontrollable urge to move legs
2] Weird feeling in knees and in lower legs
3] Legs feel itchy if stood for a minute or two

And also, when I was little, I would move my legs a lot, though there would be no weird feeling to them, I would just move them a lot to get comfortable. Even when Im sitting in chairs or even in bed, I have constantly move to legs to a comfortable position which can sometimes take like 10 minutes. In dance class, I would be the only one to move around while the instructor would be instructing. It happens during the day, mostly at night before and after I go to bed.

I would go to the pediatrition, but they are not open on the weekends. If they have a website, I will ask my mother to email them.

Restless leg syndrome?

I have never tried this but I have read many times that putting a bar of soap under your sheets can help with this. I have no idea why it would work but why don't you do a search for bar of soap and restless leg syndrome and see what you come up with? It can't hurt. Good luck. I read it several times in a column by DrQ. This is either an urban legend or a friend is playing a joke on me. She says that if you sleep with a bar of soap (not Dove or deodorant kind) the restless leg syndrome (RLS) will not occur. She swears that she read this someplace and that it worked for a relative. Since it was non-invasive, I slept with a bar of soap for two weeks. No RLS, but I still had leg cramps.

Is this a placebo? Mind over-matter? It is NOT logical! Have you ever heard of such a thing?

A. Your friend may have read about the soap remedy in our column. We agree that putting a bar of soap under the bottom sheet is illogical. Like most remedies, it has never been tested scientifically. But we have heard from many readers that it helps prevent their cramps. Here is one:

"I have had severe leg cramps for years. When I read about putting a bar of soap in bed, I got a bar of Ivory and put it under the bottom sheet near my legs. It's been a month since I did that, and I have not had one leg cramp."

Restless leg syndrome (RLS) differs from leg cramps in that the person feels the urge to move the legs frequently. It too can interfere with sleep.

We have collected a wide range of remedies for these conditions in our new Guide to Leg Pain. Anyone who would like a copy may send $3 in check or money order with a long (no. 10) stamped (60 cents), self-addressed envelope: Graedons' People's Pharmacy, No. RLS-5, P. O. Restless Leg Syndrome?

I have RLS it"s a terrible feeling in your legs when your trying to sit or when you lay down. my systems are heaviness in your legs, tingling, creepy crawling feeling. like you can't stop moving them. aspirin helps . I also will lay flat on my bed and stretch my legs. like say someone was standing at the foot of your bed and pulling your legs and feet towards them. stretch your body like you were being pulled apart. just your legs though. not the whole body. flex your feet downward while you are stretching do this several times and you should find that it really will give you some relief.
I hope that I have answered your question. and that you get relief.

Do i have RLS (restless leg syndrome)?

YOU DO NOT HAVE RLS.
Most common signs of RLS are unpleasant sensations in the legs that may feel like bugs crawling inside your skin. The symptoms are WORSE at night and cause trouble sleeping. You can read more about it at the link I provided below. I am a nursing student and have studied this syndrome in school, which is where I've obtained much of my knowledge...

You don't have anything in that matter wrong with you. The things you do actually, I also do! I can't help it. I also have a fast metabolism and LOADS of ENERGY! I'm guessing you do too but correct me if I'm wrong. I'm also a drummer, which leads me to constant tapping. Maybe you should be a drummer. Also, if you consume much caffeine, it wouldn't hurt to cut back. ;-)

Hope this helped! Vote Best Answer if it did.

What would the ER do for Restless Leg Syndrome?

RLS is not an emergency. You should not go to the ER for RLS. The ER would not do anything. They might refer you to another physician or specialist.

Can you get restless leg syndrome in your arms and how do you get rid of it?

Arms, hips, shoulders, back…it’s maddening. How you get rid of it is a tough one. If you have RLS with periodic limb movement, there are drugs out there to help you. It might even actually be tied to your iron levels. If you’re like me, and you don’t have the PLMD with it, there is a good chance that the usual suspects won’t work for you. But you should try them anyway because they might. For me, if I catch it early, Klonopin really helps. If that isn’t cutting it, sometimes a warm shower will help. When they’re really bad, the only thing that helps me is opioids. I have excruciating chronic pain, so I have them on hand.I’ve noticed that, like a lot of parasomnias, my RLS is a lot worse when I haven’t slept, so if you have insomnia or other issues that are keeping you from getting the sleep you need, you should try to get treatment for those, especially if the RLS meds don’t work.
