What Can You Eat With Strawberries

Can you eat strawberries whole?

Yes.  You can even eat the leaves if you wish, but most people don't.  I've also seen whole strawberries with green leaves go into the blender at a frou-frou smoothie bar.  There are recipes which include dried strawberry leaves for tea.Wilted strawberry leaves will give you a tummy-ache.  Make sure they are fresh and springy, the way you'd like your salad leaves.

Do you eat the strawberry leaves?

I do not. I have heard they are edible, so you can eat them. They would not harm you, as far as I know, but I still don't want to eat them. The strawberry is enough for me.

Can you eat strawberries when you're sick?

I have never heard of that before, Strawberries are high in antioxidants and Vitamin C which are both good for your immune system.

Strawberries some are a little mushy?

Yea,

I've had many strawberries that were ugly but they were also the tastiest.

If it's dark red, it's fine, but if it's fluffy white, THROW IT AWAY!

Can you eat the green tops of strawberries? What are some uses for them?

Sure, just make sure the berries are as fresh as possible and have been properly washed beforehand as dirt residue can accumulate on the underside of the leaves. On their own they taste a bit watery and slightly grassy but not unpleasant. I often eat whole strawberries with the green tops that give a nice balance to the sweetness of the berry. Smoothies would be a great way of incorporating the whole berry, tops and all.NB: Some strawberries, especially larger supermarket varieties are picked while still quite unripe and then artificially ripened with ethylene generators. They usually need maceration with plenty of added sugar as the berries may look great but can be a bit bland and flavourless. Freshly picked super-ripe berries from gardens and farms are something else entirely and that includes the green tops. It’s all good!Enjoy! ~ :)

You eat a strawberry. How much plant material do you have to eat to gain 1 kg of mass?

With an extremely simplistic interpretation of the "Rule of 10", you'd have to eat 10kg.

The rule of 10 states that only 1/10th of the food material you eat is actually converted into mass for you (the rest is lost as undigested waste, or otherwise not used).
So to gain 1kg of mass, you'd have to eat 10 times that amount of strawberries (ie - 10kg).

What are the adverse effects of eating too many strawberries?

Tough to say.  Too many for you might be OK for someone else.  A half-flat might give you a stomach-ache and the fiber and excess vit.C might distress your intestines later.  It could upset the resicent microbiota in your large intestine to such an extent that you produce a gaseous problem. The carbohydrates in a huge amount could give you blood sugar problems, especially if you are diabetic or are pre-diabetic.  And the calories are relatively low for "normal" amounts of strawberries compared with most fruits, but every calorie will count if your body is storing too many.  But then overeating strawberries is much better than overeating cheesecake.Wretched excess is rarely good
