What Career Should I Choose

What career should i choose?

Here is what I do:

1) Close your eyes and think--If you did not ever have to work again, and had all the money you needed, what would you do to feel your free time? After the first year of being retired, how would you spend your days? That is what you are meant to do in life.

2) Now think. How can you make money off of that? Who would be willing to pay you for making that product/service for them?

3) Now. Learn to make that product/service better than anyone else, and figure out the best way to get it to those who will pay you.

Hope that helps.

How should I choose my career?

I have mentored several students in the Bay Area. There is always a lot of context behind this question such as your academic record, your dreams and goals, and your history of successes and failures.Without knowing any of these, I would start off by saying a significant fraction of high school students are not sure what to major in. Some decide based on what they are good at or what they think they would like or what would be bring in a safe income in the future. From what I have seen, most do not yet know what they are good at because they have not had enough experiences to know what they are bad at. Most do not know what they truly like because again, they have not had enough experience to know what they dislike.I would recommend spending some time to think about what you’re better at than your friends and peers around you. Think of your current friends and peers as a small sample size of the competition you will face for future internships, jobs, promotions, etc. You are not only hired because you meet the job description and get along with the team, but because you are better than the other person in a meaningful way. So be honest with yourself, and consult your friends and family. Often times, the answer to this question feels insignificant such as, “I empathize with others very easily” or “I can remember a long list of items that someone reads off a lot better than my friends” or “I am very organized and never forget to text before I arrive, send a message if plans change, etc.” Companies need people with soft skills such as these, in fact, see the latest report on LinkedIn.LinkedIn Data Reveals the Most Promising Jobs and In-Demand Skills of 2018In very broad strokes, being near the top of any profession will bring in sufficient income. Going into a STEM career means you can be average, but still make good income. Going into a creative career means you need to be above average to make the same income. But focus on your strengths that gives you an advantage, and you’ll be above average in whichever career you pursue. This will likely provide sufficient income, and provide a joy/contentment that money cannot buy.

What career should i choose?

The most important question you should be asking yourself is, is this something I really want to do, and would I be happy doing it? ESPECIALLY cardiac surgeon...you're going to be in school for many years and spend many years in residency and accumulate a lot of debt, so you had better be sure that's something you want.

Cardiac surgeon pros: One of the highest paying jobs, saving people lives, could be very rewarding.
cons: extremely competative to get into medical school, lots of debt, a long road to get there, VERY stressful

Software engineer pros: pay very well, interesting if you like computers and are creative
cons: depending on your work environment may be isolating and repetitive

I want to be RICH. What career should i choose?

Firstly: Creative jobs are terrible jobs to get rich.
Writers, script writers, directors, producers, architects, painters... the list goes on... they only make money if they are famous... and that is hard work... like REALLY hard work.

Secondly: Doctors, Lawyers, and so forth are often said to be rich... but you are working insane hours, and the truth is that it is an investment of 10years of your life before you even get lots of money. If you are a doctor your insurance is also huge, removing almost half your money before you even get paid.
Lawyers are similar... the work hours are criminal, and you will have little time for any fun.

To be rich you must have good strategy and be able to take risks. The best way to do this is to either have money to start with or have connections in high places. This is not hard to do, but takes special qualities to do so. You will need to start small and spend a lot of time creating a large social circle and then investig in risky ventures that have quick payoffs.

Another method is to move to an area that no one else goes to. Examples of this often include the mining sector. Oil rigs pay off BIG, but you are stuck on a rig for a month and some people go nuts.
Working as a truck driver on a mine is 100K a year, however you often stuck in a desert somewhere, and current markets there are NO jobs going (except maybe in gold industry, which is bad at all other times).

Unfortunately to get rich quick requires lots of time, effort and motivation.

And sorry to say what you dont want to hear... often those that earn lots of money and are not used to it spend it really badly and get into more debt because of it... i see it all the time with the people in the mining town i live in.
