What Caused The Lebanese Civil War

What were the causes of the Lebanon Civil War?

Long term causes:Lebanese society had too many different religious factions which did not agree on how political influence was administered since the time of the French mandate in 1920.Each faction desired something that antagonized with the other.Lebanon as a country had been created by providing ports such as Beirut, Saida and Sour to the montaneous region of Lebanon. The borders were drawn without much consultation to its owners.Christians wanted more ties with the west and thought it was necessary to elude pan arabism. Some other factions wanted to align with Syria and other Arab nations while moving Lebanon away from Western influence.Short Term Causes:After the 1948 Palestine war, Lebanon received almost half a million of Palestine refugees. Following the Black September terrorist attack, the PLO established itself in Lebanon to use it as base of operation to attack Israel. These Palestines behaved as if they ruled Lebanon and thus the Christian population began defending themselves from what they considered abuses. The country divided itself taking (and switching) sides pro and against the PLO.You can trace the beggining of the war to the event known as “Black Saturday” in December 1975 when the PLO ambushed Christian members of a militia called Kataeb killing them. These events inflammed a situation that was growing inside the country for decades.Disclaimer: This is my opinion based upon my own research. Many other can strongly disagree with me.

What caused the civil war?

The civil war was caused because some Roman generals got greedy and thought they could wrest power away from the Republic. That is the answer you expected, right?

Cause of civil war in lebanon?

The cause was simple the Christians were controlling the entire country so the Muslims wanted some rights in the Government and than it all happened.

Palestinians firing rockets from the south which caused the Israeli invasion of 1982. Amal movement emerges fights the Israelis in the south and in Beirut continuous fighting with Palestinians. Hezbollah originates in 1985 joins the Palestinians against their fight with Israel, Amal movement, and the South Lebanese Army which supported Israel. Yasser Arafat sides with the Muslims and Beirut and clashes with the Phalangists while the Druze were killing Christians in the North. 1990 Most Amal fighters join Hezbollah to get rid of the Israelis. During this whole time the Syrians first came in to help the Christians than sided with Amal against Arafat. By 2000 the war was almost over and the South Lebanese Army started to collapse. All this while the Syrians were still in Lebanon. And than again in 2005 Hariri is assassinated and the war of the words started between Beirut and Damascus.
Tensions between Jumblatt and Hezbollah rise. They were very close allies in 1985-1999. In 2005 Israel strikes a Hezbollah post in the South. Hezbollah responses a year later with the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers and the killing of 3 others. After the war Hezbollah demands a unity government just like the one the Muslims wanted from the Christians. In 2008 the government threatens to shut down Hezbollahs telecommunications system. HEzbollah sends men to the airport to make sure the government doesn't shut down the network and thus clashes start. The Lebanese Civil War isn't over it still going on. All these wars are related to the 1975 war. And there is still a bigger war on the way.
The Lebanese war criminals of the Civil War are still free and are still part of Lebanese politics. Thousands of people are still missing since 1975, mass graves are being uncovered to this day since 1975, Israel still occupies part of the south, Ron Araad is still missing, the Iranians diplomats are still missing, and the Lebanese Army is still a disgrace.
