Why do us men love beer so much?

I can tell you have not gone much out of the United States. In many countries it's a Choice of highball style drinks (gin and Tonic, whiskey and water or straight on the rocks) or Beer. Beer is advertised as a MALE drink here----- so it's what men drink. In Europe it is advertised as a generic drink. Just look at "Sex in the City" to a TGIF commercial they seldom show women with beer unless at a sporting event or one in the background.
Men went to bars after work and grabbed a beer, cider,or mead after a long day at the factory or grabbed a pale for the walk home. Women were home with the kids making dinner. Beer was cheap and there was plenty. Times changed-- people didn't, until 1941 when women started being accepted in bars and spending their own money from working in factories making planes and tanks. Women were now meeting in bars to be social with friends and co-workers rather than tea parties or lunches. But the adds in posters, movies, and magazines showed "Rosie , Mabelle, ETC." smoking with a holder and a martini glass waiting for Joe to come home from the war. Because they wanted to show women as being Feminine not passed out over a the bar with a stack of beer glasses in a pyramid
Advertising causes an Idea, Idea causes reality,Soon what was advertised becomes real---- and the idea lives on until something changes.

Do men want to have babies as much as women do? Why?

Men are all unique creatures. Some of the answers here focus on not playing with dolls and a man's higher sex drive as indicators of not wanting children. I am a man, was never interested in dolls and have a strong sex drive, but I always wanted to be a father. Even as a child that was part of my dreams. It all depends on what your values are and where you expect to find happiness and contentment. Men I know who had unhealthy families and grew up with a warped sense of family, do not seem able to committ to a woman, which is the foundation of building a healthy family. You must find an emotionally healthy woman and committ to her, and vice-versa for her. Men who use this criteria of preferring women who will be good mothers over an easy lay or arm candy, show that their priority is family over just sex. Not that the two are mutually exclusive, but different men will prioritize differently, and it actually has nothing to do with sex drive, but rather the value he places on family.I have met just as many women whose criteria in selecting a mate is skewed toward attributes that do not indicate a good father, or even someone who is interested in being a father at present. These women may think they want to be mothers, but they do not deep down, or at least do not know how to build a healthy family. If they did they would be attracted to good fathers. You can always see a person's world-view and priorities based on his or her choices and actions.People who prioritize the contentment of a strong family unit will want a good parent as a spouse, and will deeply want children, man or woman.People who do not prioritize a happy family life, or who are afraid it's unrealistic and that they'll end up with an unhappy family regardless, will be afraid of a partner who wants children, and will avoid the situation altogether. In this case, the women may be more inclined to still dream of being mothers than the men, or to dream about it more passionately anyway.Of course many will go on to become mothers, often with uninvolved or missing fathers. In the end, when raised in a healthy household, men and women seem to want children equally. When not raised in a healthy environment, women have a greater drive than men to become parents, and many end up being single mothers. Of course, many people break from these molds, but they do establish trends in behavior based on someone's background, even if these aren't hard-and-fast rules.
