Can neck and shoulder pains cause headaches?

Absolutely. As you can imagine, neck is what connects your head to your body. So, if you have neck pain (or shoulder pain), the high chance is you'll suffer from headache too. All these little muscles and tendons in your shoulders and neck not only support your head but also help your spine be healthy. If muscles work bad, spine puts pressure on them and on veins and blood vessels. So, you can begin to have a serious headache - either from getting not enough oxygen or from having neurons in your muscles and other tissues squished by vertebrae. If you have headaches  and your neck or shoulders hurt too much, visit a doctor. You need a good physical therapist or chiropractor or maybe acupuncturist. In any case, it may be serious. I would definitely go to a PT clinic if I were you.

Do cluster headaches cause neck pain or do they only affect the head?

For me, yes. The same side as the headache, right on the bony knob at the bottom of my head and top of neck, which would radiate straight down after a little while. I always tended to scrunch up that side of my neck because of the pain there. But really, it was secondary to to the much more severe pain in my head and eye.

Bad headache and neck pain, help?

You have tight neck muscles causing your pains. The neck muscles go to the top of your head where they connect to muscles going around your head. When the neck muscles get tight they pull the head muscles into pain and that's your headache. The pain on the back of your head is right off the muscles themselves. The nerves for your eyes go to the back of your head passing next to the neck muscles. When the muscles are tight they can press into the nerves to cause pains on the back of your eyes. More pressure will cause the pupils to dilate to make you sensitive to light. The tight neck muscles are pressing into your throat with enough pressure to cause the problems you have there. When the neck muscles are tight they are restricting the blood flow out of your head and it backs up into your head giving you all that extra pressure you are feeling there. To get rid of these problems you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After about 30 to 45 seconds, when you don’t feel the muscles releasing any longer, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. repeat if needed.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

What is the best pain killer for headache and neck pain?

I would really recommend not to ask for medical advice from random strangers on the internet. Instead, give your doctor a call.Overall, paracetamol and NSAIDs in normal doses are relatively harmless, but they have some contraindications. We don't know if you have any of these… Similarly, we don't know why you may have these pains. Different causes can have different treatments. In some cases, painkillers are fine, in other the pain can be caused by underlying conditions. So give your doctor a call, and ask for recommendation from him/her.
