How do you color a backpack?

My answer may be too late to help you, but perhaps this may help others. As a backpacker with hundreds of miles under my belt in the Western and Eastern Sierras, American and Canadian Rockies, Alaska and Hawaii, and a mountain biker on hours-long rides throughout the Pacific Northwest, Pacific Southwest, and Vermont, I know how an excellent backpack that fits you well can augment your comfort level and ease of use. I bought different brands over the years. (Okay, decades.) Like you, I found that Osprey made the best backpacks for multi-day hikes and for hours-long mountain biking treks that suited my sensibility and taste. The unfortunate thing was that the packs that I liked best were invariably colors I disliked. My Osprey multi-day backpack was teal blue. Definitely not my favorite color, but I lived with it. I never liked the color. (I gifted it to my nephew recently. He didn’t care about the color. He was impressed with the Osprey’s built-in “airscape” along the back.) My Osprey mountain biking daypack is purple. I get compliments on my backpack still, though it is a few years old. Osprey still makes my model, the Raven 10. I love the purple pack, but now the park agency wants us mountain biking volunteers to use a black backpack for our medpack. What to do? I researched that you CAN dye backpacks in a pot of boiling water with fabric dye, then set it to be the permanent color with vinegar — much like years ago when I dyed my daughter’s home-sewn Halloween Tinkerbell costume the color that Disney used. To be safe, dye test and vinegar-set one of the straps first. I would also be concerned about voiding the warranty if it is dyed. Best to refrain from using fabric paint. It will be a mess, and under stressful conditions (90F+ humid weather, climbing multiple 11,000 ft peaks, sweating like crazy), the paint may rub off onto your clothes or into your skin (and be absorbed). I decided against dying my beloved and functional purple Raven 10 daypack. Instead, I’ll buy another Osprey daypack — black — for when I volunteer.

Can you tie dye a Jansport backpack?

I heard the material might not take to the dye. If dying the backpack is possible is there any method of dying that gives really intense color? I want the bag to be as colorful as possible and buying another because I mess up is definetly not an option. So should the just buy a navy backpack for school or rock the white one with dye? Thanks.

What backpack should I get for private school?

So after summer vacation I am going to start private school but the school is great except they don't have lockers! So every kid that goes there have these big backpacks that they have to carry with them all the time. I was thinking about going with northface? But the backpack I get has to be able to hold a lot, sturdy, and won't get damaged easily. So these are the ones that I like.

What color clothes should i wear if I don't want to attract bugs?

It is important to choose hiking, backpacking, and camping gear and clothing that are natural earth tone colors like green, brown, tan, or black. There are many fashionable earthy shades to choose from.

It has been reported that tests have shown the colors of light green, khaki, and tan to be the some of best biting insect repellents as far as clothing choices. It has also been reported that most biting flies are attracted to dark colors like blue and especially black. White is an obscene color choice and I don't know what studies have to say about yellow but yellow is an obscene color as well. Red is an an obscene color too and mostly likely falls into the dark color category.

Bright colors like yellow, red, white, purple and blue do not blend in with the environment, can often be seen from miles away and contribute to a crowded feeling. Remember that your presence can negatively affect the enjoyment of others who seek solitude. Out of sight out of mind. Remember: cover as much of your skin as possible.

Why are Fjallraven backpacks so popular? They are expensive and feel flimsy to me.

I’ve had my Kånken for almost four years, and it’s holding up extremely well. Sure, the color is starting to get a little bit washed out, but that just makes it look better in my opinion.Other than that, it’s not at all worn out, and considering how much abuse it’s suffered, that’s amazing. I’m not the most careful person, and I could probably have worn out three or four cheaper backpacks in the time I’ve had my Kånken. I’ve brought it with me into the woods, I’ve used it as my carry-on when traveling, and I frequently use it as my work bag.It fits a lot more stuff than you would think even though I have the classic size, which some people think is too small.Today when I walked to work, I was carrying the following things in my Kånken:1 laptop (13″)1 binder, containing at least 200 sheets of paper1 plastic folder, containing some more paper2 books1 laptop charger1 pair of sunglasses (in a fairly bulky case)1 thin shirt1 walletvarious small stuff: medication, hand sanitizer, extra earphones etc.I did have to carry my lunch in a separate bag, but I can live with that.TL;DR: It’s not flimsy, and you get what you paid for.
