A dark brown bag should do as it will always match your shoes. Correct? EDIT: Dark brown should match black, khaki, and (of course) dark brown clothes and accessories.

Backpack or messenger bag for high school girl?
Hmm, there's definitely pros and cons for each. The main concern I think should be comfort. There's no use having a really cute backpack or messenger bag that hurts your back or is really uncomfortable to wear. Also, you should consider how much stuff you have to carry. In terms of comfort and health, a backpack would be a lot easier on your back. Also, it would probably hold more things than a messenger bag, since most backpacks have several different compartments. So if you have a lot to carry, I'd definitely go with the backpack. However, you mentioned that you don't need to carry any textbooks, so I'm guessing that your bag will not be THAT heavy. If so, I'd go with a messenger bag. Also, they tend to look a little more stylish, IMHO. Especially if most of the girls at your school carry purses/tote bags. I personally would go for brown leather, since it seems a bit more casual and school-ish than black leather. Good luck! :)
