What Color So My Eyes Look

What color are your eyes?

My eyes are good ol’ brown! There they are, in all of their glory. In person (and without camera flash) they don’t look as yellowish on the outsides, but more of a warm brown with darker brown in the middle. Please excuse my wild and untamed eyebrows…They pretty much maintain the same coloring at all times, though when sunlight shines through them, they take on a lovely warm, golden color.Even though brown eyes are quite common, I’ve grown to love and embrace mine. They’re pretty awesome!

Can you guys tell me what color my eyes are?

I had asked this question earlier but wanted to add more photos. So, I’ve always been asked what color my eyes are and I’ve always said brown. But a lot of people lately have been asking that same question or try to tell me that they’re either light brown, hazel and amber. What’s your opinion? I had provided pictures with different lighting for better accuracy.

So what color are Gerard Way's eyes, anyway?

I'm pretty sure they're hazel. *drools*

Why do my eye color look so different in different photos?

Okay in this photo my eyes look pretty green: http://s1052.photobucket.com/albums/s442...

But in this one they look more brown/amber: http://s1052.photobucket.com/albums/s442...

Why is that? Maybe my eyes shift in color but I think it might be more the lighting?

Are my eyes truly green or what color are they if not green?

Yeah, they're green. Simplified, everyone has two eye color genes.
Eye color dominance goes brown>green>blue. So if you have a brown eye gene, you'll get brown eyes, no matter what other gene you have; to get blue eyes you need both your genes to be for blue eyes, and for green eyes, you can have 2 green eye genes or a green and a blue.

Your mom has 2 genes for blue eyes and your dad will have a brown eye gene but he will also have a green eye gene, which is what you got. You inherit 1 eye color gene from each parent, so you got blue from your mom (which is all she had to give) but your dad's genes were dominant to hers, which is why your eyes are no longer blue. If you'd got dad's brown eye gene you would have brown eyes but instead you got his invisible/recessive one, for green eyes.

Pretty cool stuff.

Why are blue eyes so intense looking?

When I look into my boyfriends eyes its like i see a different side to him, but when he is angry his eyes turn REALLY dark blue almost black looking and it always creeps me out..

his eyes change from light blue to really dark blue and its like his eyes change color with his moods.

Why are blue eyes so intense??

random question i know but earlier today my boyfriend and I had an argument and his eyes changed from a medium blue (his normal eye color) to a REALLY REALLY dark blue.. it was so freaky.. lol. its not the first time but i never noticed till now lol.

Does looking at a green color make your eyes relaxed, such as trees, grasses, etc.? Why?

According to Wise Geek :Scientific researchers in neurology, psychology, and ophthalmology actually have found some preliminary evidence that the relaxing effects of green do not solely depend on cultural associations with leaves or meadows. Our eye perceives color using tiny sensors called cones. Certain cones are sensitive to red or green or blue light. However, overall they are the most sensitive to wavelengths at 510 nm, which translates to green light. Researchers hypothesize that this sensitivity to green objects might affect hormonal production or the circulation of neurotransmitters that in turn influence mood.

Does being in the sunlight make your eyes change colors?

yes. and the type of day makes them change, too.

'An interesting question about changes in adult eye color is often asked. As we have discussed previously, eye color is about reflection of ambient light from the structure of the iris. People with lightly colored irises note that their eye color changes according to the colors they wear. No mystery there, but the resultant apparent color of the eye is a combination of the color reflected from one's clothing (or even eye make up) and is not always what you might expect!

Some people have noted that when they are ill or under stress that their eye color becomes darker or lighter. Clearly there has been a change in the distribution and/or density of melanin or lipofuscin on the iris. How this actually occurs is not fully understood, but we are beginning to have some clues as to the processes. A recent medication used to treat glaucoma, latanoprost, causes such a color change. We understand, at least partially, the mechanism of action of the drug, a prostaglandin analog, which means it mimics this hormone, which is normally present in the body. It would appear, then that hormones may have effect iris pigmentation and this might explain the change in eye color sometimes seen in adults. It should be mentioned that there are certain specific systemic and eye diseases that can cause a change in iris color and any marked change of short period of time requires prompt medical attention.

So here, in 2004, what we DO know is that eye color is a polygenic trait and that we humans have a variety of iris colors. Eye color changes in infants as a developmental response and eye color changes in adults is not well understood. '

Why do hazel eyes appear to change colors?

Hazel eyes are one of the least understood eye colors. What color are  hazel eyes? This color is semi-rare and is a combination of several  other colors including green and brown. Hazel eyes have less melanin  than brown eyes, but more than blue eyes. This eye color can be  difficult to define since there is often substantial variation in this  eye color. Hazel eyes often appear to shift in color from brown to  green. People with this eye color often have a multicolored iris with  one color being found close to the pupil and a different color found  around the edges. One study indicates that 74% of hazel eyes have a  brown ring around the pupil. Hazel eyes are a combination of Rayleigh  scattering, the principle that makes the sky and blue eyes appear blue,  and melanin, the pigment that makes brown eyes brown. They can appear to change color as they reflect colors around them more so wearing green makes them look more greenish, where wearing brown can make them look darker.
