What Could Be Causing Hand And Wrist Pain

What is causing this sudden wrist pain?

Hi it sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome to me. I actually have it myself from being a nurse and repetitive motion of opening pill bottles etc. And it is a severe pain when you get it. What i have done when it kicks in is to wear a wrist/hand splint at night when i sleep and during the day if i am not doing something that requires all fingers and wrist action. If you wear this for several weeks at night it should help. You probably have a job that requires your fingers, wrist movement and over time of the same thing carpal tunnel can develop. These splints you can get at Wal-Mart or any drugstore. I have one for each wrist when it kicks in and bothers me. If it continues you should have it looked at by a doctor to make sure it is nothing else going on. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hand and wrist pain????

My wrists and fingers hurt whenever I pick something up in a way that my wrist is turned sideways. Like a plate, a coffe cup, coffee pot, etc.

On both wrists, what is causing wrist pain?

It can be easily anything, from the first signs of arthritis, to simply overloading the wrists with unusual type of work the day before. Try to give it time if you're unsure what it is. Or put an anti-inflammatory ointment onto it... or maybe try local application cryotherapy if you just felt the pain today. The quicker is this type of treatment, the better is the effect.

What are the causes why I feel pain in my wrist veins?

The muscles could have tightened up and that is pulling your arm closer to your wrist. That closeness will cause the nerves to touch in your wrist to cause the pains in it. to get rid of the pains you have to free up the muscles in your wrist and here's how to do that:With hand resting in front of you with the palm up, bend your wrist as far as you can. Then press into the area behind the wrist, where they take your pulse, and hold a good amount of pressure on it. After 30 seconds slowly open your wrist up as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your wrist open for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Pain in hand from wrist-watch?

It could be too tight, cutting off the blood circulation, but as an alternative theory, it may be the metal in the watch causing bone or muscle pain. I don't know of much research being done on this but as explained by a book I read by a chiropractor, the electrical impulses in the body can be disturbed by the presence of metal.

My father and I both cannot wear wrist watches or rings directly on the skin without bone pain. My father swears by the leather band he wears under his watch... That may be a solution for you if it's not an issue of the watch band being too tight.

What could be causing my left wrist to twitch?

If the twitches make your hand fist like shape (obstetrician hand), then it may be due to low serum calcium called hypocalcemic tetany. Most common cause. Take diet rich in calcium like small fishes, ragi, green leafy vegetables or go for calcium carbonate tabs

Signs and symptoms-

Carpal tunnel syndrome typically starts gradually with a vague aching in your wrist that can extend to your hand or forearm. Other common carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms include:

Tingling or numbness in your fingers or hand, especially your thumb, index, middle or ring fingers, but not your little finger. This sensation often occurs while driving a vehicle or holding a phone or a newspaper or upon awakening. Many people "shake out" their hands to relieve their symptoms.
Pain radiating or extending from your wrist up your arm to your shoulder or down into your palm or fingers, especially after forceful or repetitive use. This usually occurs on palm side of your forearm.
A sense of weakness in your hands and a tendency to drop objects.
A constant loss of feeling in some fingers. This can occur if the condition is advanced.
