What Could Be Making My Dog Itch So Much

My dog makes me so itchy?

I got a new dog 3 weeks ago and when his fur touches my bare skin, I break out in a rash and it itches. I've given him a bath and used hypo-allergenic conditioner. My other dog and cats don't cause me to itch like this, they just make me sneeze. Going to a doctor isn't an option right now since I don't have insurance. What can I do?

My dog makes me itchy?

I'm dogsitting for my cousin for a week. I'm perfectly fine with dogs. I don't get any red bumps or sneeze around them but I do get itchy like invisible ants are crawling all over me. I let the dog sleep in the room once on my bed and she was cleanly showered and given flea shots already but I still get itchy. Now she's sleeping in the garage my bed still makes me itch. My sheets have never made me itchy before and just playing with the dog has made me itchy. Can dogs carry bed bugs? I just get a bump or two from where I scratch most

How can I soothe a dog's itchy skin?

A Vet should definitely be your first option for advice and mediation. You need to find out if the itching is an allergy, fleas, mites or some other cause. Some plants like grass can cause dogs to itch, or it could be a food allergy. Orijen dog food making my dog itchy?

From all the great reviews about Orijen dog food, I went and got some for my Yorkie. It seems that right after he's done eating or in the middle of eating, he gets itchy. He rolls all over the floor, seeming to be itchy at his neck. I thought it might have been a coincidence, but it's happened on more than one occasion. I should probably give it another couple of weeks before taking him off the food, right? His new food is still being mixed in with his old one, so the mixture of foods could cause the problem, no?

Anyway, don't really know what I'm asking. Maybe someone has been in a similar situation?

My dog is itching and crying, what should I do?

Often allergies can cause skin irritation, some dogs have grass allergies but often times it is diet related. A change in diet to find out what might be causing the itching can be a good place to start. My dog has chicken and beef allergies, both of these foods cause extreme itching and redness. Grains/gluten in processed dog biscuits is another thing that can cause issues. I found a good quality grain free dog food helped a lot.

Why is my dog scratching his mouth so much?

No matter how many experts try to answer your question it cant be answered without an exam of the dog. Many dogs will scratch their mouth area if they have a contact allergy to food or plants etc. they have eaten or chewed on. Another reason could be mouth pain like an infected tooth or gum disease. Another would be some bit of food or plant or whatever the dog has chewed on got lodged in the teeth or gums. Please get your dog to the vet ASAP.

What should I do for my dog's itchy eyes?

My dog's a White Shepherd and I'm pretty sure that they just itch. They are not red and do not have any discharge or anything, but he'll sometimes rub both sides of his head on things or use his paw to scratch at them. I don't notice any behavioral triggers, but he seems to do it more frequently after walks, but always in the house...

I think he may have allergies because he sneezes a lot and sometimes his nose actually drips mucous. The vet said that I could give him some Benedryl, but I know that it makes me really tired so I don't really want to give it to him unless he seems really miserable.

Is there anything that I could give him just for his eyes that isn't systemic? Drops or something?

Taste of the wild makes my dog itch?

lots of dogs are allergic to certain animal proteins ... sounds like you should keep your dog on the blue buffalo salmon one ... my dog can eat no red meat at all without extreme allergy symptoms .... eating fish she is just fine ... taste of the wild makes a fish-based one if that is the brand you prefer ...

either of those brands are a good choice :O)

Why does my dog keep shaking his head and scratching his ear?

I worked in veterinary dermatology for a few years, so ears are one of my specialties! Ears are part of the integumentary system, so all kinds of ear problems came through the dermatology department.Your dog most likey has an infection which can be yeast OR bacteria, or both, or it is inflammation from seasonal allergies, or both of these things. This time of year is huge for allergies to flare up, and many dogs get itchy skin and often inflammed ears that itch. Dogs can develop seasonal allergies at any age, but usually by age five most who will have allergies develop symptoms in those first years of life.Mites are less likely, unless this is a puppy with a weak immune system, or it could possibly be Scabies mites. (Typical ear mites prefer kittens, so it is rare to see any appreciable ear mite infection in adult dogs.) Scabies LOVE the ears, and this will be especially evident if there is any roughened scabbing along the ear margins. (Scabies also primarily affect the elbows and hocks so check those areas too for any skin irritation or crusting.)Go to your vet and have an ear cytology done. Please do not put alcohol, vinegar, peroxide, or any other homemade concoction into your dogs ears! Most things are caustic to the skin and can break down the inner ear tissues, making treatment much harder and painful for the pup.
