What Csus Do I Have A Shot At

Is it hard to get into CSU fresno? ?

Most sites actually agree that the Cal Polys (Pomona, SLO) are the best along with CSU Long Beach. You can look through this thread here and then browse the forum; College Confidential is the most commonly used college forum site where people not only talk about colleges, but actually post admission decisions and can sometimes even get official admission members to come on: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/coll... The U.S. News & World Rankings are also some of the most respected in the world, so it's worth looking into the Regional rankings for the West region of public schools: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreview... CSU Fresno is one of the more selective CSU's with a 55.9% acceptance rate, but that's still ridiculously high with regard to most private schools and a solid number of public schools; it's just because it's California that you have lots of applicants that they can't accommodate. You probably also want to watch this developing story: http://www.dailytitan.com/2012/03/budget...

Your GPA is a little low (average is a 3.28) and you still have to take the SAT or the ACT, so there's still a lot that goes into this, but if you can be slightly over the requirements/average for other categories, you should have a good shot (http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=842)

Odds of getting into CSUN?

your odds are very high. They say that every year and end up accepting just about everyone. Last year the average SAT score was just 925, which is a little better than guessing on all the questions.

As you can see from that link, CSUN is one of the easiest CSUs to get into. Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona and SDSU are the tougher and consequently the better campuses.

CSU/EOP Help Please?

Hello, I am a high school senior currently waiting to hear back from the schools I have applied to. One of the schools I applied to was Fresno State. I checked my portal earlier today and found that I have been denied acceptance due to a lack of space. I also applied to the EOP program for all the CSU's I applied to. My portal says that I have to send my transcripts to EOP.I know of cases where students have been rejected by the school but accepted into the EOP proram,so they essentially get accepted to the school. So I was just wondering if I should send my transcripts anyway although I have already been denied admission by the school and hope that I could be accepted by EOP or will that just be a waste of time?

Thank You for your time!

BTW I will choose a best answer

Why does Ranto hate CSU's?

I don't hate them. I think they have a place. However for most potential students there are many better options.

If someone asks if a UC school is better than a CSU school -- I will give an honest answer. And the honest answer is that the UC schools are much better.

I believe that you can go to a CSU school and get a very good education. The problem is that it is hard for employers to tell which CSU graduates got a good education while there. Most of the CSU schools are not very selective. The Freshman retention rate is not very good. The percent who graduate within six years is fairly low (e.g., only 57% of students at SDSU graduate within six years).

The result of this is that if you are a good student, you have a hard time convincing employers that you have a better education than the typical CSU student. The simple fact is that if you go to a more prestigious school -- then you don't have to do that. More doors are open for you.

You claim that some CSU students are successful and get into great graduate schools. I don't dispute that this is true -- however, it is harder for them to get into the great schools.

In my MBA class at Duke, there were 16 students who went to a college in California. Out of those 16, 11 went to a UC school, two went to Stanford and three went to a CSU. But even here, the prestige of the school comes into play. Out of the three CSU students, two went to Cal Poly -- which is the best of the CSU schools by a wide margin. You may think that CSU students go on to great grad schools -- but I suggest you look at the statistics again.

Is CSU, Chico a bad college?

When I went there they were getting over some of that reputation as a party school. It was long after they had eliminated pioneer days. My second year they limited the Halloween celebrations so that they were in a rectangular area downtown (I forget but it became something like 3 x 5 blocks) During memorial day (I may be off on the holiday, its when everyone tubes down the river) there are no glass on the river and no way to travel without going through a DUI checkpoint. That is CSU, Chico making attempts at losing or minimizing its party reputation. As for is it a good school? The degrees hold as much weight as other schools. It is more competitive than almost all other CSU schools except for Cal Poly SLO. When it comes to Construction Management and (I forget the names) some agricultural degrees it kinda is the best by far. When it comes to technical degrees lots of hiring managers choose Chico because working in small groups prepares students for life in the workplace. I admit that I am bias being a former student, but lots of people consider it a very good school.Oh and one more thing. This could be used as ammunition for or against.https://www.usnews.com/best-coll...

Is it possible to get into a CSU or UC if I had terrible high school grades though I focused on writing code and programming during school which paid off later when I sold my application?

“Terrible” high school grades probably won't get you into any UC school. You may have a shot at a CSU school - for a GPA less than 3.00, a correspondingly high SAT or ACT score will help you meet admissions requirements. Your success in programming and producing an application is certainly something to discuss in an application essay and interview, although when I went to CSU no essay or interview was required. Perhaps you could include in your application anyway an essay discussing your aptitude for programming; the admissions committee just might be impressed with your determination and moxie.

CSU Long Beach - hard to get into?

Your chances depend on whether you live near Long Beach or whether you live elsewhere in California. All of the UC and CSU campuses give priority and have different (lower) requirements to students who live in their local service area. These rules are called Eligibility in the Local Context. If you don't live near Long Beach, your chances are very low unless you boost that SAT score and show improvement in your GPA. However, you do have the opportunity to go to a community college to prepare for upper division transfer. This will give you a chance to start over with a clean slate and guarantee admission to CSULB if you earn a high GPA and fulfill all of the transfer requirement. It will also save about $20,000 in college expenses to transfer instead of entering as a freshman. You also may increase your chances of academic scholarships with a high GPA at community college. I graduated HS with a C+ GPA, but I earned a 3.95 GPA at a community college and then graduated with highest honors with two degrees at a CSU. Community college is a great opportunity to prove your academic potential for transfer.

If i don't take algebra 2 in high school, will I be able to get into a Csu?

You cannot get into a CSU without at least three consecutive years of high school math. Right now you only have two. You need to find out the CC entrance requirements to determine what is the minimum. That said, you will need to pass more than Algebra 2 to graduate from college. You need to think long and hard about whether or have the ability or willingness to do the work. Not everyone is cut out for college.

What are my chances of getting into a CSU? UC?

I am not familiar with the admission policies for CSUs, but I can offer some information about the UCs.

CA residents must achieve a UC GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for admission. To calculate your UC GPA, average your grades from a-g courses taken starting from the summer after freshman year to the summer after junior year. You should weight up to 8 semesters of honors/AP courses and exclude D or F grades you have already repeated. If you have a UC GPA of 3.0 or better, you should be guaranteed admission to ONE UC campus (likely Riverside or maybe Merced). If you do not have a 3.0 or better, you are unlikely to be considered for admission.

What schools can get into with a 2.8 GPA?

Assuming you have a decent SAT Score to compensate for it. You can’t get into any schools with a 3.0 requirement.Go on Princeton Review, any school that have students below a 3.0 making about 1–5% of the student body likely have strong extra curricular, strong essays, strong recommendations and fantastic test scores (1400–1600). A private school may give you a shot particularly schools with 60–75% acceptance rate.Public Schools, as long as you exceed the SAT Or ACT average by a mile, you have a shot into.As long as the rest of application are strong, you have a shot. Many colleges will reject you, some may waitlist you, very few decent colleges will accept you.If you lack a good test score, let’s say you have a 1250. You still have a shot at many colleges. (Granted you have strong extracurriculars)Here are a few:Arizona State University: highly distinguished engineering programUniversity of New Mexico : on Princeton Review’s best 382 collegesIndiana UniversityUniversity of RedlandsIF you don’t have a decent test score, extracurriculars, etc. Consider going to community college.
