What Dentist Gas Is This

What is laughing gas like at the dentist?

I am getting some teeth pulled and I am scared to death! They won't knock me out but want to give me laughing gas. Will it hurt? Will I know whats goinf on? Please help it scares me!

Do you get laughing gas when you go to the dentist?

Yes, even for cleanings. I'm an anxious patient with sensitive teeth and inflamed, recessed gums; nitrous helps with the discomfort, calms me down, and makes the time in the chair go by much faster. Without it, it's a white-knuckle ordeal. Nitrous makes the experience much more tolerable for me and for the hygienist (since I'm not tense as a board, yelping in pain, etc.).Insurance doesn't cover it, but it's worth the extra $40–50. It wears off pretty fast (except the time they really cranked it up at my request and didn't leave me on oxygen long enough afterwards; then I sat on a bench outside and waited it out until I felt OK to drive).

Why do dentists use laughing gas?

Nitrogenous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. Nitrogenous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one option your dentist may offer to help make you more comfortable during certain oral procedures.

Why is it so hard to get Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) from the Dentists ( in Florida)????

You have you give em a few buck under the table to get the gas

How much will laughing gas cost at the dentist?

To clear up the confusion: there ARE things you may "take with you". The nose piece you are given to inhale is difficult to sterilize, so it makes sense to sell you your own individual unit. You can either take it home, or leave it at your dental office with your name on it for use whenever you come in.

Nitrous oxide gas is used on patients who have anxiety instead of oral medication. Unlike a pill, it leaves the system quickly and you can drive home after. The gas is not cheap for the dentist to buy, so it's fair to charge for those who choose to use it.

My office charges $10 for the nose piece and $20 per half hour for the gas. Depending on what the dentist pays for the gas, cost will vary. Insurance usually will not pay for this, so you'll be out-of-pocket for the expense.

Is smoking weed like laughing gas at the dentist?
