What Do I Do If An Auto Repair Shop Made My Car Worse.

The dealership repaired my car and somehow made it worse.?

Well after my car(2001 Volkswagen Jetta) began to show signs of a vacuum leak, which include low end stuttering that corrected itself at higher rpm, inconsistent idle, and bad cold start, I went in search of it. I noticed a very loud leak and soon after, found its location. Yet even though I knew where it was, I had no idea what hose it was. So I called my local volkswagen dealership to fix this issue. Now at the time of finding the leak, the symptoms were inconvenient at best, and in no way made the car undriveable. I took it to the dealership and pointed the hose that needed to be fixed. The next day he me called back and told me that the hose went to the brake booster. He also told me that another hose needed to be replaced and it was kept there over the weekend. on monday morning he called and told me that the hose was fixed but it was still running "rough" and to fix the issue the wanted to charge me $75 more to run a diagnosis. since this repair already set me back $300 I declined and went to pick up the car. After paying them and receiving the keys I started the car and was in disbelief of how bad it sounded. In no way was the car in driveable condition. It was misfiring so bad the engine was shaking. I took it around the block to see how bad it truly was. When I came up to the first stop sign I also noticed that the brakes felt as if the car was off, which had not been an issue before taking it to them. After bringing it back he tried to argue that the engine sounded the same when I brought it, which is not true. I am expecting a call tomorrow but what legal authority do I have in this matter? I will also note that I have video proof of my car at idle since I made a video of my new exhaust to post online. I also took it to my local advance auto parts the same day I took it in to the dealership. The salesman ran the codes which were found to be only from the 02 sensors and was also a witness to the car's runnable condition. He didn't tell me the exact codes but he did explain to me what the codes were for. I plan to call him if the situation escalates. Do I have a case or am I wrong in this instance? I will provide more information if necessary.

How long should it take to repair a carburetor?

I live out of state. My mother took a '76 Buick La Sabre in to a dealer in Northern California on Wednesday; "it may be ready this Monday."
It gets worse - she initially took it to a Midas shop where they kept it for four days after having it rebuilt. They made the problem worse.
Do they make new carburetors for this car? If so, would it have been easier to replace it?

Insurance Check - Made Out to Me and Auto Body Shop?

I read a few answered questions here. I got my car hit and couldn't find the title to my car, so instead of making the check straight to me, they put the auto body shop's name on it as well. It was made out to me and the auto body shop. The bank isn't supposed to take it obviously, but I got mine to deposit it. I'm crossing my fingers and waiting to see what happens. What are the chances I will get the money and the bank will not catch the error? I've heard of this happening before to people with no problem. If worse comes to worse, I can send them a copy of the title and then I get a check made out straight to me. I can then either get my car fixed or choose to pay off my credit card debt with the money. I have a feeling I will get some responses saying it's illegal to not get my car fixed. Actually, it's not; I can do whatever I'd like with the insurance proceeds as long as my car is paid off. (Which it is.) Any bank personnel input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! =)

What happens if you don't pay auto repair bill?

My friend's car has been acting up for months and it quit working for an hour earlier but then she got it started again. We went to a mechanic shop(I followed her in my car) and we asked if they could tell her what was wrong. She asked about how much it would cost to diagnose it and he said"oh, it's nothing" so we left the car there. When we came back to get it about 2 hours later(that's how long he said it would take) he told us what was wrong with it. I started to walk out the door(she had her keys and the car would still run) when I heard him tell her it would be $100. She asked "for what? the cost to fix it" and he said "for the diagnosis". She started to panic(she didn't have the money. We only let them run the test because he said the cost was nothing. When I asked about it he said he meant it was nothing compared to the usual price($175 for diagnosis). He let her take her car and told her to drop the money off next week(by Friday). What would happen if she didn't pay him? He said it wouldn't cost and now he wants money but she has the car. She doesn't have that kind of money just laying around. What would happen if she never went back to pay? If it does have to be paid(like something bad would happen if she didn't) she'd have to try to borrow the money from friends and I know I don't have it to give her. We would never have left the car if he had told her it would cost. We would have went somewhere else where we knew it didn't cost(only reason we went there is because they are close to her house and she was worried about car not getting her there and back).

Can I sue for bad paint job on car?

Well the car is a 99 Crown Victoria. White. Was keeping it the same color. Door jams not included. Very little body work. I wasn't being cheap just went with the price he gave me. Its a very reputable shop that does everything from paint n body rangeing from 499.00 to outrageous paints 5000.00 plus, upholstery, rims, window tint, lift kits, ect. Warrenty all of there work. The owner has agreed to repaint. I showed him all of the errors and he kind of laughed like wow, theres alot of mistakes here. He also told me I didn't pay for a wet sand n buff or something. But like i said, he quoted me for what i thought i needed and he is the expert i thought. But Im happy now. Those who say i get what I pay for, hopefully it wont happen to you. Im in florida. Theres no shop in town chargeing 5000.00 for a factory paint. That would be more of a candy right? Oh well.
