What Do I Need To Know For Working In Construction

How come construction workers are so annoying?

I have this crew working out my front door, just hammering away. They work hard, but man they are annoying with their hammering and saws. Plus they always eye-ball the **** out of me when I need to go to my bike in the shed. I am on a strict training schedule and I do not appreciate being whistled at by burly construction workers everytime I come outside in my tights to fetch my bike. Now I know what it is like to be a woman always getting sexually harassed and belittled by a stronger gender.

Do you know why these construction workers are doing this?

Hi,

I came back from a two week vacation and found a wire fence going parallel to the street and wood panels on the pavement. The fence seems to be for protecting the trees on the street. Can anyone tell me what are these construction workers going to do with my building? I've never seen this before. By the way, I ran into a few of them and am fed-up with them flirting with me (they come on very strong), how soon will they leave? Hopefully, someone can answer this if they have any experience with this before. Thanks to everyone who reads and answers question.

Im tired of working in construction, should i go to college?

I don't see the point on going to college to one lose a good job and two become something the doesn't pay anything. Maybe Minimum wage. You know?
ADD: then again you should chase/follow your dreams!

Is being a construction worker a good job?

I'm in high school right now and I'm almost sure that I'm not going to graduate. I know that there's ways that I can catch up but I don't think there for me. I'm planning on getting my GED. anyways I have a girlfriend she's 16 and I'm 17 i love her so much and I don't want to end up as a failure in life we've been together for almost 8 months now she means everything to me. I know she's the one we plan on having a family and getting our own place later on wen we're older. Lately I've been thinking about how we're going to be able to do all that if I can't even finish school the only thing i can think of is working in construction. I want to know if construction is a good job to live off of, would I get paid enough to raise a family keep a stable home things like that, I'm really serious about this so please no rude or smart answers thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer my question!

Why do all the Mexicans work construction jobs?

Theyll do anything for a buck.*

Why construction workers are so horny?

All men are equally horny and nasty. I know that I'm always in the mood. There is a woman I work with that is very attractive but I would never let her know it. There is something about putting on a suit and tie, or putting on a uniform that gives men the knowledge that while working, certain behavior is not appropriate. I don't think contruction workers have sexual harrasment training courses either :-)

Should an hourly construction worker be required to buy his own power tools as a condition of employment?

If they do require you to supply your own power tools, then they are responsible if an accident happens with that tool. Even if the tool has been modified and unsafe to use. This is why many industries don't want personal power tools on the job. If an employee does furnish his own power tools, it is the responsibility of the company to supply the consumables for it, such as bits, blades or grinding wheels.

What is a job in construction like?

Well i have 19 yrs construction background that being said i don't want my kids to do it. These days you are just a liability to most contractors they want you to do anything with nothing and for as little as possible. When I first started it was different contractors treated you with a little respect knowing you are as much responsible for the welfare of the business as they are. They can't complete jobs without workers, workers can't work without owners getting work. You know a symbiotic relationship. But not anymore a lot of owners of big companies are the kids of the original owners with no on the job experience all they know is the fastest cheapest get it done before anyone sees it way makes them money. It used to be you had skilled tradesmen who had the time to do a quality job but not anymore. I don't mean time to goof off either I mean time to do the job correct and so it looks good. I apprenticed for 5 yrs for both my trades 6 yrs total as sprinkler fitter, 13 yrs total with school as electrician. That being said contractors would rather pay someone 6 dollars an hour to do most of a job and 1 guy 25 an hour to fix their mistakes. And now you have a new problem especially for carpenters, laborers, and drywallers. Its called illegal aliens. They come in and do any job for 5 dollars an hour or less so contractors get one person as foreman who speaks spanish and english and he pays them good and the rest of the crew is illegal aliens at 5 bucks an hour. You'll never be able to support a family for that money and why would they pay you more???? It just costs them more money. The other down side is anymore people with dirty hands are looked down upon as second class citizens these days. Your good enough to build their building but not good enough to park where people can see you. Or eat in their cafeterias or use their bathrooms were too dirty. I hate to scare you off if you want this kinda of life you'll do it but I want you to go into this with your eyes wide open. I love working with my hands and creating things working out problems and just plain hard work. But these days we are a dying breed and unless things change why would anyone want to do this kinda life? I hope you understand and good luck. Also don't forget we build so if it rains we get wet if hot we sweat if cold we shiver and snow well say hi to frosty There is usually a lack of walls and a roof for most of the job. So I hope you don't mind the elements.
