I live in Tokyo and spend a lot of time in Shibuya. The answers is that Gyaru is a subculture. Your question is like asking if guys like Goth Girls or, maybe another example - "Do American Guys Like Suicide Girls?" (the pierced/tattooed girls from the website by the same name). Yeah, sure, some guys love them. Others hate them. Just think of Western subcultures like Punk, Goth, Tattoo, etc. There are guys who love those girls and guys who hate them. From my experience, Gyaru-o guys love Gyaru. Most older Japanese guys hate them - just like older American guys often hate some pierced tattooed gothic girl. Normal Japanese guys often find them attractive, but they are scared to death of them. Try taking a normal Japanese guy to Shibuya 109 - half of them will be too scared to even look the girls in the eye - even if they think they are sexy or whatever. So, I think that easy answer is that Japanese guys look at the gyaru the same as Westerners look at extreme subculture girls like Goth, Punk, Tattoo girls, etc. Hope that helps!

Definitely! I’m a “big” girl by Japanese standards and more of a “chubby” girl by US standards. I’ve been out with/dated/had sex with my fair share of Japanese guys of all different body types. Why Are Japanese Guys so...eh?
I went to Tokyo over the summer and met some people there, and has anyone notice a big difference between Japanese guys and girls? The girls are so talkative and nice, and the guys are so...quiet. you watch japanese shows and dramas seeing these dramatic or hilarious guys, but when you see regular people, they just keep their head low and go on with their lives...the only exception are japanese buisnessmen that work overseas, they are very friendly to people so what gives? are they only comfortable around other japanese? (i am chinese, speak a little japanese) i don't get it, is it shyness? keeping face? Is this only in Tokyo, what about the suburbs/country side? what do you think? I know when i went to China, the guys speak their minds, even to complete strangers...
