What do you think about your name?

My first name is fine here in the United States, but it was awkward introducing myself to people when I visited the UK. There was more than one person who did not believe Randy was actually my real first name. One person in Scotland didn’t believe me, so I got out my California driver’s license. We were sitting around, nothing better to do, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. My passport was inaccessible, and I thought maybe he’d enjoy seeing a random government document from a distant land.Do you know how people can sometimes talk in a manner that is emotionally equivalent to throwing one’s hands up in the air in frustration and resignation? Just the prosody of their voice, not actually making the gesture? In that tone, he shouted “Your name isn’t really Randy! It’s Randall!” And that was the end of all discussion of the matter. My last name is a different story. My father was about 3 years old when he and my grandparents came to the US. It was very important to my grandparents to learn English right away and become full 100% complete US citizens, both of which they did. To this day, my 97 year old Papa and 96 year old Maye remember a man from what was then Yugoslavia in their English immersion class. But this is about the name. I wish I did not have to use my real name on Quora, but we all do. I definitely don’t feel comfortable writing my father’s name here. But, suffice to say, as part of their total English language immersion as US citizens, they Anglicized his name, first name and last. Today, he still uses the first letter of his original name as a middle initial (though it is not his middle name). And, there is no tilde (~) in English. (I can’t even put one in place with my phone’s type screen: n~ ~n nope, didn’t work.) So our family name became Nino, no diacritics, because we’re American and they don’t use them here.Oddly, had they not changed it way back 70 years ago, I would be furious not being able to type my own name with this mobile device!

What do you think of the name Caleb?

I LOVE it!!!! Caleb is a very strong name, but at the same time, a super cute name. Great!!!!! Definitely spell it Caleb. Awesome choice!!

What Do You Think Of The Name Adelaide?

Evangeline is pretty.
Liam is AWESOME lol.
Don't like Siobhan....mainly because no one will EVER pronounce it right.
Francesca is too spanish sounding....unless that's what you're going for, and then it's nice.
Cecilia is nice, a little old sounding, but nice.
Luca is very nice! Like the show ER. I love it!
Madeleine is my daughter's name, so of course I like it. Only we spell it Madeline.

And I like Adelaide......but I think Adeline or Adelynn is prettier:)

I'm not too fond of Rafael, reminds me of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle
Patrick is nice.
Jeremiah is too religious for me, but still nice sounding.
Sebastian is cool.
And I LOVE Gabriel. You could call him Gabe for short. Very cute!

What do you think of the name Elizabeth?

I LOVE it. very classic with a rich history. if you name your daughter this, she will have many female role models to choose from who share her name.

I like Beth, Liz, Lizzie, Betty and I also think Libby is an adorable nickname for Elizabeth.

What do you think of the name Jaylyn?

Umm yeah... thanks, I don't reallyk now what to say.... actually it's kind of my name. Thanks to the people that said they hated it. That was harsh! I'll pick best answer later. I was really just curious of what people thought of it. It's a combination of both my parent's names, and that is why it has two y's in it.

What do you think of "Ginger" as a girl's name?

It's a little old-fashioned. Other than that I think it's great. Classy and unique while being  familiar enough to not be too out of the ordinary.

What is the trashiest name for a girl that you can think of?

Want to know something funny?! This is even something I am proud of. I don’t know if you have seen the movie Ted with Mark Wahlberg and his one-of-a-kind talking teddy bear. But do you remember this part of the movie—I want to point out that after they say—Ted: I met a girl; she’s a cashier.John: No way! That’s awesome! We should fuckin’ double date or something, you, me and Lori and w-what’s her name?Ted: White trash name. Guess.John: Mandy.Ted: Nope.John: Marilyn.Ted: Nope.John: Brittany?Ted: Nope.John: Tiffany.Ted: Nope.John: Candace.Ted: Nope.John: Don’t fuck with me on this! I know this shit!Ted: Do you see me fuckin’ with you? I’m completely serious.John: Alright, speed round. I’m gonna rattle off some names, and when I hit it, you fuckin’ buzz it, okay? You got me?Ted: You do it. I will tell you. Yeah.My name is the very first name he rattles off as a white trash girls name in his speed round—John: Alright: Brandy, Heather, Channing, Brianna, Amber, Serena, Melody, Dakota, Sierra, Bambi, Crystal, Samantha, Autumn, Ruby, Taylor, Tara, Tammy, Lauren, Charlene, Chantelle, Courtney, Misty, Jenny, Krista, Mindy, Noel, Shelby, Trina, Reba, Cassandra, Nikki, Kelsey, Shawna, Jolene, Urleen, Claudia, Savannah, Casey, Dolly, Kendra, Kylie, Chloe, Devon, Emmalou, fuckin’ *Becky*?Ted: No.But wait, it only gets better! This is where I really got excited… as Mark Wahlberg continues to guess the right white trash girl name—John: Wait; was it any of those names with a “Lynn” after it?Ted: *Yes*.At this point I am hysterical… and why… BECAUSE MY MIDDLE NAME IS LYNN!John: Oh, I got you, motherfucker! I got you![Ted laughs]Here it comes—John: Okay. Brandy-Lynn, Heather-Lynn…Ted: Tami-Lynn.John: [Exasperated] *Fuck*!To explain to you how excited I was at this point in the movie, to hear my name— Brandy Lynn — both of my given names (first and middle, used together), to be the very first white trash full girls’ name with a “Lynn” after it, that was rattled off by Mark Wahlberg… my hysteria was like being in the stadium for game 7 when the Cardinals win the World Series! It was just too awesome!
