What Do U Do At Ur Orthodontist Appts

I haven't been to my orthodontist appointments for months and months and now they're on to me!!!?

Wow, do you actually have braces on your teeth? If so, just go in and get them taken off.

When you schedule a time to go in for an appointment, that time slot is now blocked just for you. It keeps someone else that would actually come in from being able to be seen at that time. You're really being rude by not showing up. You're just wasting their time when they could have been seeing a different patient. If your teeth aren't that important to you, don't waste someone else's time if they're not worth your time.

My orthodontist hates me?

you should talk to your orthodontist about your options. if he seems upset about you missing appointments, explain to him what you've just told us - i personally think there's nothing wrong with you feeling upset about going for your checkups when your dad took you to appointments.

however, you do need to see this from the orthodontist's perspective - there is often a long waiting list for patients, and it's frustrating when they don't come to appointments, especially if there's no reason given or apology. he shouldn't have taken off your braces early as a result of this, especially if you don't think you've gotten the result you wanted.

try and make another appointment and tell him what's been going on and if he can retreat you or fix the gaps for you. do try and make an effort to have good oral hygiene for your appointments and yourself, especially if you're already self conscious about gaps in your teeth. continue wearing any appliances (retainers, etc) he has given you after taking off the brackets.

very sorry for your loss, i hope you can get this sorted out.

My first orthodontist appointment!!!?

you might have the braces on before the concert. first they will get the basics...that is x-rays, checking out for any cavities, or obstructed teeth. next, you get the unfortunate mouth mold. the mouth mold is a painless process that makes you wanna gag, or atleast thats what it did to me.what they do baisically is make a mold of your upper and lower teeth with this purple-ish gel that dries up and forms a perfect model of your mouth, pre braces. the dentist will send in the mold to have you braces prepared and stuff. next, he sees if you need spacers between your molers. after he puts in the spacers (if you need spacers, that is) then you are free to go. next month, try to get an appointment before your concert so you can have your braces on by then. ask your otho if your braces will be in like a week befor the 21...maybe like tuesday the 13th, so your mouth will be adjusted to the braces by then. if they wont be ready a week before the concert and lets say like a couple days before it, then i dont really recomend getting because your mouth is going to be in a bit of pain that might distract you from enjoying the concert fully. dont rush into braces, because you are going to feel like you wanna rush out of them later, enjoy your time without them trust me:D have fun at your concert and good luck with your braces, soon your teeth will be worthy of a colgate commercial! if you have any other questions ask your orthodontist because after all he is the professional and braces are different for everyone. usually dentists say that its ok and braces wont hurt much, the whole "its just a little pressure, take an advil and your ok" doesnt have much truth to it because advil doesnt take away much pain from the teeth moving in your jaw.

What is a repo appt in orthodontics? & how do I get my braces off sooner?!?

Well I've had my braces in since August 2012. Almost a year and a half. Anyways my teeth are perfect, it's just my bite that they're working on. Apparently when I first became a patient, I was 6mm overbite now I'm 4mm, the rubber bands helped. She said by my next appt I should be at 2mm which is where she wants me to be when my braces come off. Also at my next appt, is my repo appt, she said that's where they'll take off several brackets and reposition them to "wrap things up" or "finish them off"
Does this mean they'll be coming off soon? I need someone to answer with EXPERIENCE!!! Thanks, oh and does anyone have any good advice on how to get them off faster? Extra care, how to make the rubber bands work extra good. Thanks 10points for whoever answers all those questions !!!!!!'

How many orthodontist appointments before people get braces?

This is what happened for me.
1. I went and he told me my teeth weren't ready for braces, so I should come back in a few months.
2. Went back and they just made dates for more appts.
3. One week later, go in for impressions
4. Two weeks after that go back and get spacers
5. One week after that go back and get braces.

Unless you have to do step 1 like I did (most people don't) you should have them by the time school starts.

What can I expect at my first orthodontist appointment?

A full face x-ray and a nice consultation with the orthodontist, which will probably be the longest time that you will spend with him.Have these questions ready and let him answer you so that you know what will be your treatment.1. How much will total treatment from start to finish cost2. A rough estimate of time in braces and time in retainer3. Will you get straight teeth and also get EXCELLENT FUNCTION!What you will need to do 1. Brush after every meal+ your normal brushing2. Floss at least once daily3. Get your teeth professionally cleaned every 3 months4. Really limit soft drinks, gatoraid, sugar in any form and really sticky foods5. Come in for adjustments for every appointment6. Wear your retainer as long as you are supposed to7. If a band or bracket comes loose, call your orthodontist and have it repaired as quickly as you can8. Listen to good advice and follow it.I hope this helps you!

I missed two orthodontist appointments? Do you think my orthodontist hates me because of it?

I missed two of my orthodontist appointments. One, because I overslept and two, because I completely forgot. Do I have a reason to worry that my orthodontist hates me or doesn't trust me anymore? Because I can't handle people hating me, especially when they're either my friends or people that help me (doctors, dentist,etc...)

When I first got braces, I got these sheets of paper saying what NOT to eat and what stuff I should have around the house. I also had a piece of paper saying that it's not fair to miss an appointment because other people might've been waiting longer than me.

What do YOU think?

Should I make an orthodontist appointment without my parents' consent? Not even to get braces, but to for a check-up (if those appointments exist).

No dentist will see you for a consultation without a parent or guardian present. Not in the US, for sure.Your mom is correct in being concerned about your dental health (hence preventing braces if your oral hygiene is not up to the mark). You need to get more responsible about brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing or using a Water Pik at least once a day. Once you get into that habit for a few months, sit down with your parents and explain that you appreciate the importance of good oral hygiene and have been following it. They will take you for an orthodontic consult following that. Most good orthodontists will be very wary of starting orthodontic treatment on children with poor oral hygiene. You don't want straight teeth with bad gums and cavities at the end of your braces treatment, do you?

Cancelling orthodontist appt last minute, orthodontist is a stickler for sticking to schedule, worried...?

I agree with Amy.....YOU are paying THEM a large amount of money for a service ...you do not need to ever feel scared of your orthodontist....You have a life too and if you need to cancel then you need to cancel...You should give them 24 hour notice if possible, if not then there may be a small cancellation fee...if it is your first time cancelling, they should waive this fee....as life can be unpredictable..
Life is too short for mean people...I would try to find another orthodontist who is not a pr*ck ,if you have not begun treatment..
They are one of the most overpayed professions out there...Granted...I know they went through extended schooling..however....here in my area, their assistants do all the work and yet they charge 45 dollars for a missed appointment which ticks me off...I work in a dental office and we charge 15 dollars for missed appointments..( and that is after many warning letters.. ).not 45..seems ridiculous to me...! They charge outrageous fees and then have the nerve to charge outrageous cancellation fees! I dont know how they sleep at night...When I am paying 4,000-5,000 dollars in treatment for just one of my children, I expect them to bend over back wards for me...not to just breeze in and breeze out ...
I personally cannot stand high and mighty doctors whom belittle you or talk down do you...no way...there are plenty of nice orthodontists out there who will not make you feel this way....seek and you shall find! Good luck to you....Sorry I sound bitter...the topic struck a nerve....:-)
