What Do You Call It When You Barbecue At A Sports Event

What do you call barbeque before a baseball game?

TAILGATING!!!

Why do Canadians call it "Barbeque"?

we call a party with grilled food, a barbeque

we called grilled food, barbeque

we call the appliance on which to grill the food, a barbeque

we just do that with a lot of words...

in the US, a lot of people call hockey "ice hockey" and skiing "snow skiing" or skating "ice skating"

in Canada, some words, unless otherwise specified, are just kind of a given...

the inconsistant use of nouns is just the way it goes...there is a difference on how people use words in various regions of the US as well as Canada...i.e. some call a carbonated beverage pop, some call it soda, it all depends...

neither is right or wrong, it's all just preference...

cheers!

Why is BBQ-ing before a football game called "tailgating"?

A tailgate party is a social event held on and around the open tailgate of a vehicle. Tailgate party is also named tailgating, you can say you are gonna go tailgating if you are going for a tailgate party. Tailgate parties occur in the parking lots at stadiums and arenas, before and occasionally after games, when people usually prepare BBQ food with a grill on their car tailgate. Many people participate even if their vehicles do not have tailgates. It is now becoming a popular event all over the US.Tailgate parties have spread to the pre-game festivities at sporting events besides football, such as basketball, hockey, soccer, and baseball, and also occur at non-sporting events such as weddings, barbecues, and concerts.Personally, it’s probably because the freshly grilled food is usually the best match for sports games. Game, beer, and grilled food, that makes a perfect day.If you haven’t done it yet, get yourself a grill and try it, you would love it. Of course, getting a right grill is important, you won’t want a tailgating event with a lot of hassles in grilling while less time enjoying. If you are looking for a right grill to starting with your tailgating experience, you can jump to our website for a look, Home - RGC , where I worked for three years and you can find different types of grills here. Now get yourself a good one and go to the party!

I want to throw my mom a surprise birthday party and I don't have a clue about throwing surprise parties. Help

It's actually for her 48th birthday coming up in December, I've never thrown a surprise birthday party ever and need ideas. I know there is a such thing as a 30th, 40th, 50th, etc birthday parties, but didn't know if it can be any age; was wondering if a 48th birthday party is ok. I just need ideas on how to throw one. Please be honest and let me know if the idea of a 48th surprise birthday party is a stupid idea. Thanks for all answers.

What do Americans do on Independence Day?

Yes. A morning parade is very common, even in small towns. Usually it consists of schoolchildren, local politicians, and veterans. The high school marching band will usually come out (how good they are depends on the town; where I was they were… a bit special, shall we say). There may be other local groups in it - the Humane Society, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, that sort of thing.Usually they give all the little kids candy to throw. If you want any candy, you have to sit at the beginning of the parade route because all the kids get excited and seriously pelt people with candy for the first three blocks before they run out of it. Then there’s no candy for the rest of the parade. After that, people go home and usually somebody is throwing a party of some sort. ‘Block parties’ are popular, where the entire block comes out and has a giant barbecue. Hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken (and bean burgers for the veggies), potato salad, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, chips and salsa, vegetable platters, baked beans, crab dip, pickles - basically anything that can be eaten off a paper plate with the hands is pretty common fare. Sometimes people will do a pig roast. For dessert you will eat a bunch of shit that looks like American flags, like flag cake:This kind was a staple where I grew up. Blueberries for the corner, raspberries/strawberries for the stripes, Cool Whip for the icing, and confetti cake for the inside. Also popular are cupcakes in green ice cream cones with green icing or flame cookies to look like the Statue of Liberty’s torch:Kinda like that, but they never look that good in real life. My mother tried to make these one year and I remember standing next to her while she tried to get the cookies to stand up properly in the cupcake and finally she went, “Fuck this patriotic bullshit, this is cake, fucking eat it.”So I did. I always liked being in the kitchen when my mother went on baking adventures because I got to eat all the fuckups.Anyway, usually all the adults are busy drinking themselves silly while the kids shriek and play with all the neighbors and wave sparklers around. Like this:This is the funnest shit in the world when you are five. When it gets dark, you go see the fireworks. Most towns will have these, though the ones in the bigger cities are better. Probably the best fireworks show I’ve ever seen was in Washington DC, which isn’t surprising.
