What Do You Call The People That Build Custom Computers And Fix Them

Will Best Buy build custom computers if you already have the pieces? Is that a service Geek Squad offers?

I doubt it. That would not only compete with Best Buy's computer sales, but put them in an awkward warranty situation with the buyer. They'd be on the hook to make the thing work even if the pieces were somehow incompatible.

Geek Squad makes money charging to fix problems. Why should they take the chance of making problems they then have to fix for free?

Sorry.

Does Fry's Electronics build computers?

Like if i went to the store and picked out parts would they put it all together for me and I know if so it wouldn't be free so could you include a price too? i would go to the store and ask myself but the closest one is 55 miles away.

Why Do people call gaming PCs a "rig" or a "build"?

A. Calling it a "rig" or a "build" suggests that it was customized to taste, either by the manufacturer or by an individual, and that its purpose is specifically performance-intensive. Such names differentiate it from a typical desktop that you might buy from Dell or HP, for instance, or from a desktop used for typical purposes.
B. Merriam-Webster lists "build" as a noun for "form or mode of structure", and "rig" as "tackle, equipment, or machinery fitted for a specified purpose", so while they might seem like unusual names, they are accurate and grammatically correct.

Custom build computer vs. pre-built?

custom build is always better... Prebuilt computers usually have very cheap and low quality parts inside, even when this is not happening and they have some popular brands parts inside still a custom wins because you can easily make an order exact on the money and needs you have :) another point on custom built is guarantee... Prebuilt computers usually give just one year guarantee for the whole machine while on custom built you can take seperate one for every part... Witch usually are about 3 years! even though custom builts in general are kinda more expensive they really worth it from every side

P.S. i'm open to it being funny

How should someone get started in building custom PCs?

It is not as hard as it seems. It is still very good to research and watch some tutorials, but as long as you get everything to match, the plugs are almost completely self explanatory. Here are some things to pay attention to:CPU type (LGA 115X for intel (1151 chips go to 1151 motherboards))RAM type (Do not get DDR4 RAM for a motherboard that can only accept DDR3PCIE slot types (if you want a premium graphics card for gaming or whatever)size of the motherboard (atx - largest \\ micro atx - medium \\ mini itx - smallestMake sure that the case will match up with the motherboard sizeMake sure that the case will accomodate the GPU / any other partsmake sure that the psu is the correct sizemake sure that the psu will fit in the case (mainly important for smaller casesWebsites such as PCPartsPicker are really good but it is important to know what parts will work togetherI would recommend Intel processors and Nvidia graphics cards. AMD based products will work fine but I’m biased

Is it a good idea to buy used, computer components to build a whole computer and sell it for profit?

Hello John,Your question about buying used parts and making a whole computer to sell for profit is an excellent question. I will try to answer it for you as best I can.Since I do that myself, buy or get for free used computer parts, and repair computers to resell, I have a little knowledge on the subject.Be honest about what's been replaced or used in the computer. This helps from having it brought up and complained about later.Don't try to get like new prices on the rebuilt computers. You can sell more at less price and actually make money that way.Just because a computer was in a dumpster and 3 inches of water doesn't mean its no good. 9 times out of 10 you can salvage good parts from it or even get it running again.Do not try to resell windows operating system unless you have a Microsoft resale license. Unless you can afford a huge fine and possible jail time. To work around this, you can easily format the hard drive and install Linux, Red Hat, or any free, open-source OS.If selling to friends or family its cash up front, no loans or installments. Thats if you want to get paid because we all know how many years it takes to get paid on credit from friends. So to answer your question, yes you can buy used parts to make computers for resale. But you can also get parts for free if you look around or even put the word out that you will take all used and junk computers. Word of mouth travels fast. Free parts make for better profit also. One thing I should mention, don't call it refurbished unless you used all new parts. That would be misrepresentation and whatever site you are selling on your rep score would drop. That would lower your sales. You want to keep your rep scores as high as possible if you want to sell on any site.Well, I hope that helps and I wish you the best of luck and sales.Eddie
