How can I stop procrastination?!?

Set deadlines for completion. Try assigning yourself small-scale deadlines ' for example, commit to reading a certain number of pages in the next hour.

Work in small blocks of time instead of in long stretches. Try studying in one- to two-hour spurts, allowing yourself a small break after each stint.

Start with the easiest aspect of a large, complex project. For example, if you're writing an academic paper and find that the introduction is turning out to be hard to write, start writing the paper's body instead.

Enlist others to help. Make a bet with your family, friends or co-workers that you will finish a particular project by a specified time, or find other ways to make yourself accountable.

How do I stop procrastinating my homework?

I am someone who constantly procrastinates homework. I got a laptop for Christmas and use it for homework constantly its very helpful. But i also get distracted with things such as my email, youtube, facebook, aim, and picnik, and yahoo answers of course. Right now as I write this I'm procrastinating my homework. It gets to be so bad that I go to bed around 12-2 am and wake up from 5-5:30 so i barely get any sleep. I've tried turning off my computer but either I end up needing it for homework or I get distracted with my cellphone. My parents have gone to the extent of putting time restictions on my phone but it doesn't work because I've replaced it with even MORE facebook and video chat! I try to stop I really do I just can't help it, I can't get myself to focus on my task. I have looked up many other people cases of procrastination on Yahoo Answers and nothing has worked for me so I've decided to ask it myself. Just to give u some background my homework load if I am completely focused is anywhere between 2 hours to 6 hours a night usually its 3 or 4. Please help me I can't keep on living on such little sleep and so much caffeine to keep me up! I mean my grades arent slipping or anything but my sanity sure is!

Which is worse: procrastinating or being lazy?

Procrastination can be a persistent and debilitating disorder in some people, causing significant psychological disability and dysfunction,so that has to be worse than just being lazy.

Can someone help me in how to avoid procrastination?

Give yourself a fake due date. When I get a syllabus I would mark the due date for papers a week or so earlier than they were actually due. It was a ploy to fool myself into getting it done early. I would still have to do some things the day before the actual due date but it was really minor stuff.

And every else in awhile I would forget it was a fake due date and get the paper done early and have time to really make it good. Those were always my better papers.

Also I cut off all Internet assess after I have done my research otherwise I'm too tempted to do other things.

Why do I keep procrastinating? How do I stop it?

You’re wondering: “Why do I keep procrastinating, overthinking, or not doing what I know I need to do?”The secret reason for your progress or lack thereof is Newton’s First Law. Here it is:An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion at constant velocity unless acted upon by an opposing force. This law is used to depict inertia between physical objects moving around in a space-time continuum. One of those objects is YOU.This law depicts the idea that momentum pushes certain objects into motion or sends them into another direction. It means you as a human being are constantly influenced by external objects, your own internal mental states, other people, widespread beliefs, and ideas. The secret to getting things done is using inertia and leveraging momentum.Archimedes said:Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. This is the law of compounding effect: the more you do something the more momentum you’ll gain.Look at a space shuttle shooting off into spaceThe space shuttle uses half its fuel just to get off the groundThe space shuttle uses over 90% of its fuel to get one foot into the airThe space shuttle uses less and less fuel as it climbs higherThe space shuttle uses almost no fuel at all once it reaches the orbit of the EarthEinstein called it the 8th wonder of the world and considered it as a universal principle.Like attracts more likeMoney makes more moneyAddiction creates more addictionProcrastination leads to more procrastinationSo it is with you wanting to be productive.Even before you sit down and start doing something, you experience immense resistance. It’s as if something’s dragging you down to the ground. You’re like bootstrapped. But once you overcome this initial barrier, you’ll gain momentum and hit the Zone. Then your voice of hesitation and procrastination will be silenced and you’ll move through space and time as if on a magic carpet rideIf you really look at it, then it’s the truth. Although a massive cliche, the Nike slogan is right – Just Do It - and keep going.Read the article: Newton's Momentum, Nietzsche's Will and the Secret to Getting Things Done - Siim LandStay EmpoweredSiim
