What Do You Like About Working For Walmart

What do you think about working for walmart?

Yes as we all no; Walmart is a huge piece of our economy and yes, they are still growing as a powerfull company. Ever since Sam Walton died and there kids taken over it walmart has been having problems Do you think its worth all that hardlabor for a lousy too weeks pay when they are screwing people with pay, like mistreating employees, lawsuits, bad investments, management stealing from there own stores. and etc. I used to work for the walmart in Bhm and i was one of the smart ones that left before things went out of hand. Now walmart is working people to death, people are getting calls on vacations to come in work, when a death in a family, walmart wants you to come in to work ater the funneral and so much more. Working for walmart is ok when your in school but making a carrier out of it that is not possible because walmart is still hiring people out of the streets and still denying people who have degrees. What i think Empires rises and Empires Fall nothing last forever. there will be a time and its coming near when walmart will shutt down and the only thing to rely on is sams wholesale which the last time i checked publix and cosco is taking out the business. From my own experience, i would not recommend working for walmart its a waist of time.

Do you like working at Walmart?

Yes, it has been a fun career so far, I started as a seasonal temp cashier, then I went to deli for a couple years and from there I went to cash office for few years, in the last year and a half i have gone to home associate then to the home department manager then to pharmacy manager then grocery support, fresh cap 2 supervisor and to assistant manager all of these changes in 6 years has kept the job fun and exciting, learning new processes and new people with each move. Its a great place to work I consider my fellow associates like family.

Pros and cons of working at walmart?

My husband works there, he is not a cashier, but works back in the electronic dept.

He complains more about the customers than anything else. Pay is better than nothing. I think anyone can have a job and make it into a good or bad thing you can never expect someone elses story to match everyones story. Different stores have different managers/people/employees so what you may find true in one store you may find it not to be true in another.

What do you like or dislike about working at Walmart?

Since I have been working at Walmart for about a month as a night stocker, I have some complaints about working under this company. Although it depends on the store and location, each places experiences varied and this is my first job in a retail environment. Firstly, the way the management and the higher ups treats their employees is not good morally. The company culture keeps you on a leash with many strict rules and regulations with a fear of being fired. Even for reasonably employee circumstances, you still get things called "coaching" which is a complaint that goes in your file.Secondly, the scheduling system is brutal as it is done by software. You are not given a set schedule each week and there are some days you may get 3 days or 5 days of work, on top of being on call. On my 3rd week of working, I had to work 9 days straight so I worked 4 days for 1st week plus 5 more days for the 2nd week of working straight.Thirdly, the work environment is very accelerated. You have managers on your 6 every hour, to see your results in a short expected time frame of your project. If you don't meet their expectations, you will get yelled, and give you another project. I am sure there are more dislikes but I don't think its worth noting. I do have some likes in the job tho. Everyone seems helpful and seem to willing to always help you out.

Is working for Walmart really THAT bad?

Working in retail is a difficult experience, especially at a place like Wal-Mart, because of the (unfortunately) crazy people that tend to shop there. There are always going to be good and bad experiences, though. I think that since you need the job, you should take it, especially since you have not had a job in the past, it could help you learn more about communication, people skills, and economics. It will also make you be much nicer to any other retail slave. I know of three great sites that offer stories of experiences working in retail, which you should read before beginning your job, to understand more about the people you will be working with.

Working for Walmart?? Job? Pay? Area?

Hi, I am a former Walmart employee. I have also worked for Walmart twice. The first time that I worked for Walmart was in the Austin, Texas area from January 1996 to June 1998. I was a cashier. When I first started working there it was great. The store was still small ,not a supercenter, and I really felt like I was part of a family and that I was appreciated. Well, during that time the store I worked at relocated to a new supercenter store and that's when everything seemed to go downhill. It seemed as if they really didn't care about anyone's individual needs anymore. I think sometime between 1996 and 1998 is also around the time that Sam Walton passed away. Boy, could you tell it too. It seemed as if they only cared about the money. The company has definitely changed since Sam Walton has been gone. :(

I don't remember exactly what I was making when I first started working there in 1996, but I know when I finally got fed up and quit in 1998 I was making $6.19 and I was about to get a 25 cent raise. I knew I couldn't afford to quit, but I just had to get out of there.

The second time that I worked for Walmart was from September 2004 to June 2005 and I was a cashier then also. I had moved from my hometown to live with my cousin in Brenham, Texas. When I got there I started filling out job applications and ,even though I didn't want to, I filled out one for Walmart too. I just kept telling myself that maybe working for them would be different since it had been a while and it was in a different area. Boy, was I wrong!! It was still the same horrible company!! Eventually, things didn't work out between me and my cousin and I had to move back to my hometown. I was able to get transferred to the Walmart store there. It was still the same old thing.

What really makes me mad about Walmart is that it seems as though the money and fame has gone to their heads. They don't care about their associates, their benefits are horrible, and the pay is really bad. It would probably be a very good idea if you put in your 2 weeks notice at Walmart. FYI: JCPenney is a good place to work.

Why do people like working at Walmart?

Alot of the time they are the only ones who are hiring. Walmart will hire you without having any experience.. When a person is desperate and needs to make some form of an income, Walmart is the best way to make it happen. Single parents, retired people and school aged people are generally the ones who are interested in applying. They need money to supplement their life for whatever reason. They may be in survival mode too and have no other choice.

Why do people hate working at Walmart?

Better question: Why would anybody LOVE working at Walmart? Working in retail is always shitty, at least in some sort of way. I'm pretty sure you have to be 16 at least; I had friends in high school who did stocking/receiving.

Why do people not like working for Wal-Mart?

This is a loaded question. First, what makes you presume that people don't like to work for Walmart? Second, this type of statement can and has damaged the reputation of Walmart for years. When false information goes viral (especially for large corporations such as Walmart) it can have devastating consequences. Rarely do people fact check statements such as this. To assume that every associate does not like to work for Walmart is wrong and irresponsible. There are plenty of associates who love to work for Walmart. It's true that there are a large number of associates, current and former, who hate or hated working for Walmart. But the same can be said for any company. I have worked for Walmart for a total of 7 years now. Four years and counting at my current location and 3 at another with a few years break in between. I have worked in many types of professions in my adult working life. None of them have ever been "perfect" nor will any job ever be.There are major changes coming to Walmart in the near future that will impact current and future associates. These changes will be both positive and negative depending on the associates work time preferences. These changes are huge and will change the way Walmart deals with scheduling for a long time. For me I severally disagree with this future change. Although it won't impact me personally because I am available to work whenever it's needed, it will definitely impact some and more than likely, most of the current associates. I don't use the word hate lightly, but I truly hate the new scheduling system that will be rolling out because it's going to force out good, long and short term associates who won't be able to change thier availability to accommodate this new system. Does this mean that I hate Walmart? Absolutely not. And no, not because it won't affect me personally. I understand that Walmart is a business and as so has to evolve to not just meet the customers needs but exceed them to survive. In closing; many people dislike many things, they may even hate them. But that doesn't mean you should hop on the bandwagon and dislike or hate something because it's a popular position to hold. Use your own personal experiences to make your own decisions and opinions. Don't follow a trend like a mindless opinionless sheep.
