What does it mean when a recipe calls for you to broil?

Most ovens in the U.S. have a broiler. In electric ovens, it's usually at the top. You select broil from the oven controls, and move a rack to one of the highest notches. Only the top heating element comes on. Ideally, you should have a broiler pan, which has an upper pan with drainage slits and a lower pan to catch the drippings.

In electric ovens, you sometimes need to prop open the oven door or the heating element will shut off to avoid overheating. The idea of broiling is there is a very hot heat source that is constantly on, browning the top of the food. It's similar to grilling.

In gas ovens, the broiler is often under the oven, with its own drawer that holds a broiler pan and a couple of different tracks to adjust distance from the heat source. The flame is above the drawer and below the oven.

Luggage rack for vintage motorbike? Do any modern rack fit or maybe I can modify one?

I've seen lots of sportsbike riders wearing backpacks to haul their gear.

It's going to be tough to find custom made parts to fit a 28 year-old motorcycle. Perhaps you could find a "universal fit" unit and modify it enough to work for you.

Try JC Whitney.com. The carry a lot of parts and accessories for older motorcycles

Can someone help me with accounting problem on Internal Rate Of Return?

Pisa Pizza Parlor is investigating the purchase of a new $41,000 delivery truck that would contain specially designed warming racks. The new truck would have a seven-year useful life. It would save $5,600 per year over the present method of delivering pizzas. In addition, it would result in the sale of 1,600 more pizzas each year. The company realizes a contribution margin of $2 per pizza. (Ignore income taxes.)

Required:
1.(ALREADY DID THIS ONE) What would be the total annual cash inflows associated with the new truck for capital budgeting purposes? (Omit the "$" sign in your response.)

ANSWER: Total annual cash inflows - $8800

2. (ALREADY DID THIS ONE) Find the internal rate of return promised by the new truck. (Round discount factor(s) to 3 decimal places and final answer to the closest interest rate. Omit the "%" sign in your response.)

ANSWER: Internal rate of return - 10%

3. (CANT FIGURE THIS ONE OUT)In addition to the data already provided, assume that due to the unique warming racks, the truck will have a $16,000 salvage value at the end of seven years. Under these conditions, compute the internal rate of return. (Round discount factor(s) to 3 decimalplaces and final answer to the closest interest rate. Omit the "%" sign in your response.)

ANSWER: Internal Rate of return ______% ???

Please help me with the above question and give an explanation as to how you got it if possible I really need help.

Thank You .

If I were to go to a car dealership's parts department and purchase each and every item separately which were needed to assemble a vehicle from scratch, about how much more would that cost compared to if I had just purchased the vehicle?

Once up on a time...years and years ago. There was a mail-order auto parts company called JC Whitney.  They're still around, of course, but in this post-internet age they are a shadow of their former (circa 1980-1990) glory.See, you used to be able to build a Jeep from the contents of the JCW catalogue.Seriously, they had the body tubs, frame, wiring, engine, suspension, brakes, driveline, wheels, tyres, tops, seats, dash and instrument panels, steering rack and steering wheel...literally everything to build your very own custom Jeep. For a lark, my friend and I priced out what it would cost for a base model jeep using the least expensive parts that were still compatible...Cost: about 11,000 US$. Not including shipping and handling. You can buy a used '85 CJ7 (in top condition) for about that much now.  No idea what they sold for new.EDIT: I was over at the JC Whitney Auto Parts & Auto Accessories website, and it would seem that you, once again, can build a jeep from their listed inventory.  However, prices would seem to have gone up a lot from 30 years ago.

What are some neat cooking or food-prep techniques that you discovered or came up with on your own, that you've never seen in a cookbook?

The best way to chop an onion is something I've never seen in a cookbook, but makes a world of difference. The trick is to leave the root end intact. Trim off the other end, then slice lengthwise through the root. Peel the halves, then turn the onion halves cut-side down on a cutting board. Make cuts lengthwise, starting about a 1/2" from the root end, spacing the cuts as far apart as you want the size of the resulting chunks to be. Rotate the onion half and cut crosswise, across the cuts you made lengthwise.I've put a how-to video on my blog that demonstrates this technique. 2 Minute Video: How to Perfectly Chop an Onion - Whit's Kitchen
