What Do You Need To Get Into Tattooing Piercing

Do you like tattoos and piercings?

I don't mind if someone has a tattoo. It looks good. Sometimes it's artistic. My friends have tattoo. That looks cool. But I am not going for tattoo or piercing myself. It's a permanent thing.I am changing every year. My philosophy and point of view keeps changing. What I liked last year, I don't like it anymore. I am learning every day.I read a lot about tattoo. It's fascinating. But I love my clean body and prefer to keep my beliefs inside my mind.Tattoo is something that we would like to have with us for a lifetime. It requires stability and strong desire. People gets a tattoo when they believe in something strongly or loves an idea; when they know who they are.I am still a “Work in progress”.

My tattoos and piercings?

I have a few piercings and tattoos. I get lots of compliments on the ink. The thing is i m 37 and kmow that 40 is around the corner. I live in Missouri which is part of the bible belt. I see plenty of younger adults showing off piercings and tattoos, but rarely see those coming of middle-age like myself with them. Am I starting to get too old for physical artistic expression? It could just be where I live too. People may feel the need to settle down once getting into their 30s and having families.

Why do people do tattoos and body piercings?

It surprises me a bit that none of the answers so far has mentioned the obvious: because they appreciate art and enjoy having something they consider beautiful on their body. It's a myth that most tattoed people do it for the effect their tattoos have on others. Most (at least those with high quality tattoos) do it for themselves, to enjoy having great works of art on their body.Of course, there is as huge a variety of reasons as there are quality levels and styles, and some people (mostly younger ones) surely do it for "shock value", but the first and foremost reason is "they like how the tattoos look". You can't compare the twenty-something girl with one of the trendy feather/bird/infinity-tattoos nearly all of their frieds have a variety of to some guy who runs to the first tattoo shop when he hits 18 to show off what a badass he is (and wishes to have at least chosen a better artist some years down the road), to a middle-aged woman who gets a photorealistic tattoo of an iguana, to the elderly guy who is finishing his traditional bodysuit at 70. Four people, four completely different styles, reasons, ways of life. But the group I know most people of are those who made informed decisions about their tattoos, waited months or even years for the artist of their chosing and spend hundreds or (more likely) thousands of Euros to get the quality from the artist they aimed for. Many of those are middle aged, have professions that allow them to spend this amount of money on body art and a few even travel abroad to get tattooed by those whose art they love. They are tattoo enthusiasts and art lovers. Simple as that. :)

Are tattoos and piercings allowed in college?!?

Colleges couldn't care less. It's your choice to even go to class. They have more important things to worry about then tattoos and piercings.

Can doctors have piercings/tattoos? What about surgeons?

I have a tattoo. It is on my upper arm, so while wearing my white coat it is not visible. But sometimes after a surgery when I talk to the parents I only wear my scrubs and it is visible. Sometimes I notice parents staring at it. Some say it’s nice, some ignore it.Most of my young patients think it’s cool.So that is not a big deal. But it would be different if it was more visible (like hands or something). The way doctors are viewed is kinda traditional, so big tattoos and/or piercings would still be a no-go.So I would say, yes they can but you should keep in mind that it should not be to big or to visible or to extravagant. It should be hideable somehow. And I don’t think it makes a difference between doctor and surgeon. In the theater the patient is asleep and your wearing long sleeves and a mask and a cap so mosttime only your eyes are visible. And nurses and other surgeons aren’t that interested in your tattoos^^It is a bit different with piercings. You have to make sure that you can’t loose them. (So they can’t fall into the patient make something unsterile etc.) But that is also the case with normal earrings.

What do you think of people with body piercing and tattoos?

I could club these into simpler term that is Body Modifications, these are generally person to person specific, behind every tattoo and every piercing there is a story for which the person having such modifications is sensitive. If someone donot really know the meaning of tattoo then surely after a decade or may be less than that you will feel bordem and also you may look for ways to get rid of the same. But a tattoo or piercing made with a right reason and right emotion can truly be a master piece on your body.I have a few body piercing and 2 tattoos on my body, being an Indian girl i have faced mixed reactions for my tattoos, my fathers name is written at my front wrist and people generally ask me if it is my boyfriend’s name, i seriously feel amused, people are people you cannot let them feel what you feel for a particular concept, and i have now started enjoying the reactions of aunties and oldies, just need to say one thing to them “ i dont care”(Haha)So let others say what they want to say just follow your heart.

Why do doctors ask you if you have tattoos or piercings?

I find it very offencive that doctors have asked me if I have tattoos or percings...and then put the info into a computer system.
why do then need this information? some would think it's in case you catch hiv from a needle, but thats not the case because it's a doctor they would just give you blood work

so why does our neo-nazi hostpital system really need to know what tattoos and peircings I have and where they are located?

When I asked why, they did not give me a direct answer can some one please explain....segragation is real and allowing these questions to be answered keeps people sterio typed and segragated

Are tattoos and piercings the sign of a broken or damaged human being?

As all humans are broken and damaged just by the process of living, heartbreak, hunger, worry, etc, then technically yes. But don't buy into the hype that a tattooed or pierced person has suffered great amounts of pain. Some of us body modifiers have, and the reason we embrace the art is to embrace our selves fully. Some of us are just different, always liked tattoos or piercings, are experimental by nature, or a little odd and wonderfully strange. The main thing that is in common with all body modifiers that I have met is one thing: We are all creative in some form.So I urge you to see past the "damaged" label of old and embrace the "artistic/creative/strange in a good way" label.Oh, and my certifications (plus the tongue, ears, labret, belly and nipple piercings you can't see):
