What is the average time from start to finish the meals when we dine in a restaurant?
Completely depends on the restaurant, but I will speak for my current place of employment.Wait time: 0 minutes up to 2 hours (and people do wait that long)Wait to be sat: 0 minutes to 5 minutesWait to be greeted: 0 minutes to 2 minutesFrom here... You might be able to put an order in immediately, if you know what you like. You could skip ahead a couple lines if that is the case.Wait for drinks: 1-3 minutesWait for apps: 3-5 minutesWait for order: 11-25 minutesFrom there, is also depends on how quickly you eat. Nobody orders dessert at my restaurant, so I can't say how long that takes.I have some guests who walk out the door within 30 minutes of walking in. Other guests will be around for 2-3 hours. Our goal is 45 minutes from sitting at the table to leaving, but from walking in to walking out we probably average about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Picking up too many shifts, and can't say no?
I'm a college student and I work part time. I'm still new on the job, but so far everyone has been taking advantage of me at work. They always tell me that they need to go home or that it's their birthday, and that they really need a shift to be covered. It's hard for me because I can't say no. There is this one girl who asks me to take over a bunch of shift and to permanetly trade my better times with her lousy ones (like her weekend shifts), and she hasn't help me at all. Actually in general, when I need a shift to be cover, they all seem to say they are busy. Arggh, where is the limit when one should stop caring :/ ? I can't keep doing this because I'm already behind on school work and everything else, but I feel super lousy when I can't help people.
What percentage of a restaurant's sales are from alcohol?
Like many of the questions here, there is no correct answer. A restaurant's bar/food mix varies significantly based on a number of factors. For example, a College Town Sports Bar & Grill could do as much as 40% bar mix. A Ma & Pop restaurant that focuses on breakfast but has wine and beer probably does about 5%. Not knowing the type and location of a restaurant makes it impossible to answer accurately. I work in the full service casual dining industry. I manage a number of restaurants that do anywhere from a 14% bar mix to a 26% bar mix.
What's the typical revenue for a small, independent restaurant (50 employees or less)?
"50 or less" is massive. That isn't a "small" restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. A small, independent, one-location, restaurant usually runs on less than twenty employees, and that's a quite huge enterprise already. For the sake of clarity I'll focus on those restaurants that qualify as small and independent. Three people in the kitchen, max; a disher; a busser; maybe two, three, waiters; and the usual rabble that makes a place work: hosts, cleaners, etc.I'll also presume that the owner is not a dumbo and actually considered location and clientele, filling their daily necessary seats to keep the place going and growing. That's the ideal standard and just about where you want your restaurant to be. On average such a place needs to server sixty five covers a night, 45 to make ends meet. The industry average for fine casual dining is $13.40 per main and $6.13 per app, with 11% of all diners ordering dessert at an American industry average of $4.46.That's around $19 per cover or, if all things work well, around $3100 per night. This fluctuates. I'll give you the revenue of a place I worked at a while back for comparison:Mon: $1849Tue: $2435Wed: $2193Thu: $3600Fri: $5430Sat: $6293Sun: $2964Week: $24764 / 7 = $3537/dayFood cost is on average 1/3 of the price of a meal, another third is labor and location.

Can I order off a kids menu if I am older than the age limit?!?
I went to a restaurant today and I ordered off the kids menu but the waitress was like "Oh I'm sorry, we only serve that to kids 12 and under" I have been to the restaurant SEVERAL times. Like 2 or 3 times a week and I've always gotten a kids meal, and I also always just get a water, no pop. I did the same today and wasn't allowed to get the kids meal.
